Driving lesson
The appointed instructor lacked communication via text and during the lesson he was more focused on his phone rather than guiding/explaining. During the lesson he was for some weird reason already agitated so he'd unwillingly take it on me, causing me to panic and lose focus while driving. Other than that the experience was good, and if appointed a good instructor, I'd recommend it to everyone!

I’m new here but when I contacted this company, it was a weekend and was directed to book a phone call which I did surprisingly this call was on time and I spoke to a very lovely girl named Katie who sounded very experienced in her job and polite.

John has been absolutely amazing…
John has been absolutely amazing throughout the whole intensive. I've done a few tests with different instructors and I feel like I learned a lot more this time. John was very patient with me and we managed to figure out what to keep me calm during the exam and how to do everything properly. I would highly recommend John to everyone (even if I didn't pass but I did thanks to him)

We’re sorry you feel this way, but we do feel this review is somewhat misleading. Our prices and fees are clearly displayed before a booking is made, so customers are able to see the full cost and what the service includes before proceeding.
The £600 fee is not simply for “sourcing a driver and a theory test”. There is a considerable amount of work involved in arranging, coordinating and managing the service, which is clearly explained at the time of booking.
At present, we’re also unable to trace a booking based on the first name provided in this review. We have therefore requested some additional information so that we can identify the booking and properly investigate the circumstances.
We’re always happy to address genuine concerns, but we believe it’s important that reviews accurately reflect the service provided and the information available to customers before they make a booking.

National Intensive promises more than it provides
Initial customer service was helpful, but unfortunately that seemed to disappear once I had paid for the course.
My instructor regularly cancelled lessons, sometimes without telling me in advance, and I found the lessons far less frequent than I had expected. I signed up for an intensive course, but in practice I was sometimes waiting around five weeks between lessons. I also felt that my instructor was often more focused on his phone than on providing me with proper instruction.
When I raised my concerns, National initially refused to provide a refund or arrange a new instructor. It took me threatening legal action before the situation was finally resolved.
I also looked up my instructor and found that he had not agreed to abide by the Approved Driving Instructor Code of Practice. This was disappointing given National's emphasis on the vetting of its instructors.
After around 8 months, I eventually received a partial refund as part of an out-of-court settlement. I have since been able to restart my driving lessons with a local independent instructor, without going through a third party, and I am now getting lessons much more frequently and intensively than National ever provided.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company. My experience after paying for the course was very different from the level of customer service I experienced at the beginning, and not what one would expect from an "intensive" course.

We are sorry that you feel this way, but we do feel it is important to clarify that the account given in this review differs significantly from the information provided to us by the Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) involved.
Our understanding from the ADI was that a significant issue throughout the booking was the student’s availability when attempting to arrange lessons. This resulted in time being set aside by the ADI that could not always be used, and there were cancellations and changes from both sides. It is therefore not accurate, in our view, to suggest that the disruption was simply a case of the instructor regularly cancelling lessons without notice.
We also did not simply refuse to assist when concerns were raised. We offered to arrange an alternative ADI for the second half of the course in an effort to resolve the situation and allow the remaining training to continue.
We would also like to address the reference to the ADI Code of Practice. The Approved Driving Instructor register referred to in the review is a voluntary register, and an instructor’s decision not to be included on it is not, in itself, an indication of their integrity, professionalism, conduct or suitability as a driving instructor. We therefore do not believe it is reasonable to suggest that the instructor’s absence from a voluntary register demonstrates that our vetting process was inadequate.
We appreciate that the experience did not meet the customer’s expectations, and we ultimately agreed to a partial refund as part of an out-of-court settlement. However, agreeing to a settlement should not be taken as acceptance that the events occurred as described in this review.
We have tried throughout to deal with the matter reasonably and to find a practical solution, including offering an alternative ADI for the remainder of the course. Given the circumstances and the information provided to us by the ADI, we feel the review presents a one-sided account and that some of the conclusions drawn are unfair.
We wish the reviewer well with their continued driving lessons and hope they are now receiving the frequency of training they are looking for.
