Simple answers to my quetions about solar panels and planning

Had a great and informative meeting with Faith from the planning portal, she totally answered all my questions and was very patient and easy to talk with.
I would recommend using the planning portal from TerraQuest as it has really focussed me on how to proceed with my planning application

Had a productive chat on the phone, got exactly what I needed

I needed advice on a potential planning permission, however after 20mins with Jasmine, I found out I didn't need it, which was a fantastic result.
Jasmine was clear and concise, and knew the planning process really well, this gave me confidence and allowed me to progress swiftly with my project.

I had a great experience with Planning Portal. A really useful call where all my questions were answered and a helpful referral to another company who could answer questions about Building Regs. Would recommend if you're about to start a building project and got lost in all the rules and regulations.

I didn’t have a choice, but the UI was pretty intuitive and it guided me through the process.

The support was very thorough and very professional. I was left with a very good understanding of next steps in the projcet we're engaged in.

The Planning Portal is really straightforward use and acts as a great repository for multiple applications. However there are two things that definitely need improvement,

i) Planning Portal price should be included in all lists of planning prices so that applicants get a true picture of the cost.

ii) Councils vary in the amount of time taken to register applications. This gives potential for lost time on applications before registration. Councils should have a max time to register an application -maybe 48 hours.

The website is initially confusing as there is a lot of irrelevant information to plough through and you don’t know if it applies to you or not. It would be best to do a form for each thing, eg: replacement windows rather than leaving inexperienced individuals to Wade through it.

Planning portal provides a complete set of guides and advice in order for a householder to be able to compile and submit a complete planning application.
However, it is expensive, especially for repeat users such as planning agents, who have to pass this on to the client.
Added to the increased council planning fees I think that this will put people off building legitimate improvements to their properties.

Having a national planning portal is great !

But

increasingly LPA s are randomly introducing their own forms and checklists that are far too complex, are poorly formatted for users ( not even editable documents in many cases )and frankly not fit for purpose …

This undermines the national planning portal and the centre needs to dictate to LPA s as it makes it a mockery.

Just this week had an LPA refuse to process a simple pre app without completing their 4 page sustainability check list.. really !!!

Central government needs to be stronger and put some common sense back into the purpose of a national planning portal.

There should be zero need for local documents in addition to all of the usual questions, which are often clumsy, ill informed, far too detailed and often trigger countless stupid reports costing thousands of £££ to prove nothing !

The process for submitting an application for approval of a condition on the planning permission was simple and fast.

Used this site to help me make a planning application for a fence above the permitted development height. It made the process relatively simple and straightforward to the extent the Local council planning team had no queries

It is now 7 days since i submitted a request on the portal and i have had no contact other than an initial email receipt

A lengthy drawn out experience. The whole process took too long and was extremely costly. Our Application took just under a year to be approved. We submitted 31 supporting documents. Communication between our agent and the planning officer was very poor,
