Suzuki Swift Purchase & First Service – Feedback
I recently purchased a Suzuki Swift from your dealership, and it underwent its first service on 26th August. While I appreciate that the service was completed, I wanted to share some feedback about the overall experience.
On arrival, the gentleman at reception seemed to be under considerable pressure. Although I don’t believe he intended to be rude, his manner was quite abrupt — I was simply told to “wait over there,” which unfortunately meant I wasn’t able to ask any of the questions I had prepared. This was disappointing, especially as a new customer hoping to better understand my vehicle.
More importantly, I’m still experiencing an issue that was present from the day I collected the car: a flashing orange warning triangle that appears throughout most journeys. In addition, the sat nav system has proven unreliable, frequently cutting out — often in the middle of complex detours. With road closures being so unpredictable these days, this has made driving unnecessarily stressful and has taken away from what should be an enjoyable experience with a new car.

The true measure of a car dealer is the after service particularly when there is a problem.
Rob looked after us really well , and went above and beyond to resolve the issue. We had a courtesy car provided whilst the issue was sorted and he kept us regularly updated .
Although the car needed substantial work and it took a while I can’t fault quest - they really did look after us very well and were equally frustrated with the issue that was in my view

I recently took my van for an MOT at…
I recently took my van for an MOT at the Quest Motor Group in Braintree and was disappointed by the experience. My van failed due to the following issues:
- Front tyres needed replacing (past legal limit)
- Wiper blades needed replacing
- Driver-side wing mirror was smashed (mirror broken and plastic housing for indicator was damaged)
I was informed that if I got the repairs done within 24 hours, I could get a free retest, but after that, it would be £27.50 for a retest. I had 10 days to take the retest. Here’s what I was quoted for the repairs:
- MOT Cost: £55
- £103.84 per tyre (£207.68 total) for 2 budget front tyres
- £301.41 for a new driver-side mirror, fully fitted (£198 + VAT for the mirror itself)
- £53.22 for new wiper blades, fully fitted
Total quoted cost: £617.31
These prices seemed excessive, so I decided to get the repairs done elsewhere. Here’s what I actually paid:
- MOT Cost: £55
- MOT Retest: £0 (turns out I had 10 days for a free retest, despite being told otherwise at first!)
- Budget Front Tyres: £70 each at a local tyre garage (£140 fully fitted instead of £207.68)
- New Driver-Side Mirror: £40, ordered online and fitted myself (instead of £301.41)
- New Wiper Blades: £36 fully fitted at the same dealership (instead of £53.22)
Total amount I actually paid: £271
Total savings: £346.31
My Issues with This Experience:
Overpriced Quotes – Their prices were significantly higher than what I paid elsewhere for the same parts and service.
Inconsistent Information – The service advisor initially told me the retest would cost £27.50 after 24 hours, but when I called back, I was told I had 10 days to take a free retest!
Misleading Pricing – I was quoted £53.22 for wiper blades, but when I called back, they were actually only £36 fully fitted.
This whole experience left me confused and frustrated. It feels like they were trying to charge me way more than necessary, and if I hadn’t questioned the prices, I could have ended up paying hundreds of pounds more than needed.
I won’t be going back to this dealership again, and I’d strongly advise others to double-check quotes and shop around before agreeing to any repairs!

I booked my car in for an MOT at Quest Motor Group Braintree, it failed by ‘near side headlamp aim too high’, I was told the car was now illegal to drive and I couldn’t take it away. They then phoned me later saying I needed a new headlamp, they had to get it from MG directly and it was going to cost £1003 altogether. I had done some research by this point and spoken to friends who are in the car industry and they advised they should be able to just manually adjust it, so I called quest back (15 times as I just couldn’t get through) asking for explanation as to why I needed a new headlamp and they informed me it can’t be adjusted as it’s damaged.
I decided to take the car away and get a 2nd opinion at another nearby garage and I am so glad I did! The other garage adjusted the lights for me within 5 minutes, I asked them if there was any damage to the adjusters at all and they said no!! I took the car back to quest for a retest and it passed!
I wanted to leave this here to warn others to please get a 2nd opinion!! I’ve saved myself over £1000 by taking it to another garage! I should also add I bought this car from Quest less than a year ago!
I did not receive an apology from quest for this mistake they made, nor will I be taking my car there for any more MOT’s.

Bought a second hand car from here and am very happy with the service and the car. What I liked about it was not being harassed into buying anything or constantly chased after my visit. They were very helpful and I would happily recommend.
Unable to fix an issue that appeared 2 days after purchase. Mis-sold a car under pretence of it having a full history when it doesn’t.
I bought a used Kia under the premise of it having full service history but it in fact doesn’t. A warning light came on 2 days after buying the car (along with other smaller issues like wipers not being adjusted correctly and trim missing or falling off) and for the last year I’ve been going back and forward with the garage trying to get the issues rectified.
Because they had been unable to resolve it themselves, I took it to my local Kia and they said that they can continue with diagnostics but it wouldn’t be under warranty as the car missed its first service. Since then the car has been back in with Quest twice and currently off the road for 18 days and counting. They seem unable to fix the issue and unwilling to pay Kia to fix it.
The staff have been polite and tried to help where they can but a serious lack of communication, short staffing and poor customer care has led me to writing this review.
Do not use Quest Motors. The point of sale of very good, but every moment since then has been a headache. Find your dream car somewhere else and do not make the same mistake I did.

Update:
I gave them a call, like they requested on their comments. Reply I received saying 'Offside Gaiter may have fallen off' while I was driving. Typical reply from a car dealer. Completely waste of time to contact them.

It’s not often I receive excellent service so I feel I must congratulate Quest Motor Group on the attention I received when I recently bought a Land Rover Discovery. Dishonest salesman
I purchased a 2nd hand van from this Quest in Braintree. I’m very happy with the van but realised since I purchased it I’ve been lied to twice. They lied about when the service was carried out and also lied about a repair to the paintwork that was suppose to have be done before collecting it. I contacted the salesman to try and resolve these problems but he wasn’t interested. Would definitely not recommend this company as I hate being lied to.

Untrustworthy
I have a Citroen C3 (2014) I have been servicing my car at quest motor group since it the car was bought.
In the recent MOT they told me that the timing belt needed changing and they quoted me 1500£ to complete the job. I felt that the person quoting me the price was trying to persuade me to make a quick decision and book with them to complete the job. However, once I got home, I directly called the Citroen branch in Colchester to check if the price was the same with them. They told me that the price was unreasonable and quoted me 499£ for the same job. Now that is 1/3 of the price that Quest motor Group quoted me.
Since this event, it made me reconsider the trustworthiness of this place and I doubt I will continue to take my car to them in the future.

The service they provided was fine however on collevtion it the delivery driver contacted me and sent photos showing that my car door was scratched while in their garage and no one is taking responsibility. Despite the sceatched clearly being fresh, they're claiming it must've been done before the car arrived. My car was not scratched before it arrived
