Our government is encouraging Scottish Energy to promote HEAT PUMPS when the whole country knows they are Useless and cost a fortune to install and cost a fortune to run. Our government are on the wrong side of technology and science. The EU are correct and are investing in Hydrogen which is more economic. 27 countries are right and 1 country is wrong the UK. Hard to get support and every time i speak to them the line is very poor and no one cares to call you back.

Scottish power... Absolutely rubbish and incompetent company... I can't stand this company... They hsve been harassery me... And they r going 2 force me... To have a pre-paid meter... Against my wishes.. This will make me... Hate Scottish power even more... Making a customer stick with them... Even though they... Can't stand Scottish power... Terrible company
Terrible company, extortionate preying on vulnerable elderly people. Terrible attitude from there employees. Aza from the solutions department needs to learn about customer service and how to treat customers (long-standing customers at that). Would not recommend.
I had a call from Scottish Power to…
I had a call from Scottish Power to offer me cheaper electricity for approximately 10hours a week.
This sounded like it would save me money so I went ahead and switched.
When we started using the service and I asked about the half price electricity they said I couldn’t have it as my smart meter wasn’t communicating every 30 minutes.
I didn’t think this would be a big deal and just asked for somebody to come and fix it.
They offered to put me on a list of customers waiting for repairs but said as I wasn’t without electricity they could give me no idea of a date.
From a customers perspective this is unacceptable and so I have switched back to my original supplier .
I found the call centre in South Africa unhelpful and unable to solve issues.
I found the call I had from South Shields provoking and also unable to offer simple customer resolutions .
As far as I am concerned we will never use this company again their management team must be incredibly arrogant and have created a culture of ineptitude .
I never new customer service levels could get as bad as this.

Absolutely full of it. They lied at my door told me they was utility and i have them on camera doing it. They need closing down, I will be putting the video on line for everyone to see. I will be canceling ani hope your company goes bust you set of losers. I don't mind going to court neither your not the first company I have delt with I have you o camera completely liying to me. No wonder no one wants to be with you

Oh how I wish I had read the reviews on here before I signed up last month. They took the direct debit about three weeks earlier than the agreement date. There wasn't enough money so it was returned. Complained about it but only received a very half-baked apology with no resolution offered or any reason why they were taking it earlier than agreed. They are even going to attempt to take again next week despite it not being due until the end of the month.
Poor customer service
My goal was to have inconsistent markers removed from my credit report. I first spoke with Wazeed from the Direct Debit Goodbye Team, who confirmed he had sent a request for them to be reviewed and removed.
When I called back for an update, I was given completely conflicting information. One advisor told me the markers were accurate and wouldn’t be removed, and even claimed I still owed £16—two years after the bill was marked as settled. When I tried to explain, she refused to listen and ended the call. Another representative then told me the markers had been approved for removal, only to contradict himself moments later, which added to the confusion.
Eventually, Wazeed called me back and confirmed that the markers had been approved and removed. He was professional, honest, and genuinely helpful—the only person out of the eight representatives I spoke to who provided clear and accurate information.
Unfortunately, the rest of my experience was extremely frustrating. My complaint handler, Jesmien, failed to support me when needed but was quick to get in touch once the issue had been resolved.
While I’m grateful to Wazeed, the overall service was disappointing. I will not be a customer again and would not recommend Scottish Power.
Called Scottish Power this morning…
Called Scottish Power this morning spoke with a CS member named Ulanda. Could not explain at all why my debt had increased from £60 to £153 after giving a meter reading. I only gave a meter reading 3 weeks ago!!! Why is this happening again!!!! With no explanation. Really really disappointed after having a very positive 40min chat with Connor from their social media team. Should have known this feeling “good” with SP would not last long! Really need to look elsewhere for my energy.☹️☹️☹️

Offered £40 compensation, still waiting, phoned up to question it a week ago, apologies after apologies, phoned today to be apologised again and to make another complaint, which is again another hassle when your working.

I see I am not the first to hop on the Scottish Power hate train, and all I can say is all these reviews are 100% true. While using Scottish Power they were hard to access and hard to contact, and persistantly overcharged us. However the real problem has come after I switched companies, for almost a year they have been hounding me, sending a debt collector after me, over a bill that ISN'T MINE. I have contacted them upwards of 15 times, and even managed to get the debt collector to stop. However a few days later they sent ANOTHER DEBT COLLECTOR. I'm a man on the lamb at this point, they'll probably be hiding in my shower soon. They will call me at all hours, text me and email me incessantly. If you want the energy equivalent of a stalker ex, I would recommend Scottish power every time.

Absolutely disgusting treatment from Scottish power I have been a customer for over 20 years they call me up with a so called better deal. And cancelled my direct debit and now for some response they can’t set up a new debit debt. I am getting harassing calls every day. They are not logging our conversation and no manager will call me back. Scottish power are an absolute disgrace now. Leaving them as soon as possible. Avoid this company total joke.

Incompetent and most unprofessional energy provider I have ever come across!!!
I closed my account and moved out of my flat recently giving them my last energy readings and requesting my final bill and a refund for any credit left over. On the phone I had spoken to an advisor and gave her the readings and my correspondence address and was told everything was up to date. Three weeks later, I logged into the account and I just realised I have a lot of outstanding credit built up that’s owed to me on the account, so I contacted them on the chat to find out how to have this refunded and to ensure my account was finalised and closed. 2 hours on the chat, delayed responses, no communication telling me what they were doing, an advisor called aieshwariya was who I was speaking to (and my god was the whole conversation the most frustrating thing I have ever experienced), took 1 hour to look into the account and barely replyed. Not helpful, kept fobbing me off. I wasted another 2 hours having already wasted 2 weeks when I thought they had already finalised everything there end and I was just waiting on the final statement.
On the chat, it was obvious she had no intention of helping me and probably on a game online with her friends because I cannot understand how someone could be that slow to reply to one message and look into an account. She finally told there is a glitch in the system so they can’t issue a final bill. Apparently, the meter readings I gave 2 weeks ago were inputted incorrectly by the advisor I spoke to on the phone, and that same advisor also messed up my correspondence address which was spelt incorrectly!!
Meaning, I have to now wait a minimum of another 24-48 hours (supposedly) for the bill to be generated, only because I insisted as they said it could take another 7 days! Due to their system glitch, and the previous advisor’s incompetence, this is now dragging out and potentially taking over 2 months to sort. To top it off, I’ve always paid by direct debit for several years but despite this, I’ve been told the credit owed to me would need to be refunded via cheque despite paying by direct debit, which I had only cancelled 1 week before closing my account and after my final instalment was paid. Due to the delays caused by them, th e refund could take up to another 20 days to be issued!! According to them, had I not closed the direct debit and kept it active they apparently would have refunded the money via bank not cheque! None of this makes sense and it sounds like another delaying tactic to not refund me my money!
The whole process has been a joke! Complete incompetence, poorly trained advisors and a complete lack of urgency.
They will delay paying you what’s owed and yet hound you with spam calls. They also sell your data to scammers when you close an account so scammers harass you with calls 3-4 x a day for over 2 weeks either selling you their services or demanding a payment that doesn’t exist! Which has happened to me and the calls are relentless! I am getting these calls daily for the past 2 weeks, which my phone thankfully screens and blocks!
Please stay clear. DO NOT USE! Awful company! Use octopus, their customer service is unmatched!

Customer service is awful and the supplier literally scammed me out of my own money. I’ve closed my account in January and been told I’ll get some money refunded, which I did. They then charged me almost £140 in one month after I’ve already closed my account and a further £15 the following month, telling me that it’s a late payment fee? Despite the fact that they have confirmed to me my balance is £0 and the account remains closed.
I’ve been going back and forth with them via email asking them to speak to me in simple terms, as I simply don’t understand their very formal emails, but they couldn’t care less AND named the subject of our email thread as “spam”! How ridiculous. At this rate, it looks like I’ll have to raise a dispute with my bank, as I’m clearly not getting my money back from SP.
Second review of this scamming company
This is my second review as my complaint is still ongoing a year later. ScottishPower are still billing me for an address I haven't lived at for over a year. I paid my Gas by DD and my electricity was prepayment. I received a closing account statement from them, actually stating that they owed me money! Despite providing all the proof needed that I vacated the property they continued billing me, they have affected my credit score, have mentally abused me with continuous calls texts and emails demanding money I do not owe. I have now contacted the energy ombudsman, I am a pensioner and will not pay a debt i do not owe. This company is getting away with scamming leaving customers big time. There is a Facebook group I came across regarding SC complaints and I am staggered with the amount of customers and ex customers going through the same. When i provided all the evidence requested by them, they stopped communicating personally with me, and completely ignored any of my emails. Please please do not use this company as your energy supplier....you will eventually be scammed by them

No further forward with Scottish Power raised a complain Aug 2025 still ongoing constantly cancelling my direct debit without cause and make it very difficult to set it up again. Judging from complaints dealing with complaint arranges call backs calls and apologises for delay then cancels call with another date to call back and then cancels again! This has been going on for month. Try to pay online system will not update. Spoke to someone on the phone and chat can’t deal with me has to be complaints department. It’s a shambles. Now in debt and unable to make a payment to resolve this as they simply will not accept direct debit or payment on the app or phone. Something is not right here! Back to the Ombudsman I go! Please do not use this company it’s a disaster zone!

I have been with scottish power for 25years. I was so happy with them i decided when moved home i would reject British Gas and keep scottish power its been a night mare i camnot get onto my account for my new address because even though being promissed twice they have sorted out all the details they have not closed my old address account down. My old house a 3 bed semmi was costing me £120 a month i got £182.00 credit when i left my new home a 2 bed bungalow 2 times smaller than my old house is ,£165.00 per month how does that work. Worst still they have taken 2 payments in 5 weeks £330.00 they tell they sent me a welcome pack which explains the payment dates when i requested my own preferred date. Im paying way over the odds so they can keep my money to make intetes off. Not good enough.and i cannot open the welcome pack for my mew address to read it because it defaults to my old address and it wont let me log in. Absoloute shambles. I wish i would have just left zBritish gas in here i asked for a dmart meter 6 weeks ago ive heard nothing. Think hard people before you trust Scottish Power again.
