Senior railcard wasn’t sent , I received a network railcard instead
Back in March 23 I purchased a senior railcard , but unbeknown to me the card I received was the wrong card , I didn’t realise this until I used it the other day on a long distance journey to Norwich , the ticket inspector told me he couldn’t accept it as it was a network railcard , this card is useless to me as it’s only for people living in the southeast and London network , I live in the midlands ,
I was horror struck when he told me I’d have to pay the full fare to Norwich a single ticket one way costing £66 . I then asked for time to ring Trainline , which the call I made was useless and a waste of time , I was refused a solution to the problem and had to purchase another digital senior railcard online . The ticket inspector who kept coming back to me and standing over me like I was a criminal did however agree that if I purchased the new senior railcard during the journey he agreed to not charge me anymore . This I did after a good while of searching for proof of age etc . I had to prove to the ticket inspector I had purchased the railcard , I could only show him the email as proof of purchase as the card wasn’t yet in my Trainline app account. So I went on my way happier, but the experience of that journey was very upsetting and unpleasant .
On my return home I called Trainline again to explain my issue , the card they digitally sent me was the wrong card , not the senior railcard ordered ,
a network rail card can be purchased by anyone regardless of age , when I purchased my senior railcard I had to prove my age with either my passport or driving licence number , it wasn’t untill I used it on Tuesday 13th June , 2 months after I bought it that it was the wrong card . They told me they couldn’t refund their mistake because it was outside of 2 week deadline for making complaint and informing them .
I asked to speak with a senior officer there but he wasn’t available to speak with me .
For anyone receiving a railcard from Trainline ensure before you upload it that it’s correct and if it’s wrong complain before 2 weeks , don’t wait until you use it .
