Avoid
Avoid, like most reviews, very poor in every way. wrote the Will a week before my sister passed of cancer, lost it within a week of her passing, as others have said, formatting errors all over the document too! Didn't tell us it was lost for weeks, whilst they looked and produced a "statement" that it had been lost As they lost the original Will and no copies, Probate wouldn't accept, Banks wouldn't accept for the trust fund either. Every time an institution asked for further clarity and i contacted Simpsons, I was told it was with document management and nothing ever come from the calls and emails on many occasions, just ignored. they simply did not care at all to return one single call or email.
It took 9 months to sort the estate, mostly because I had to find solutions to the problems caused by Simpsons losing the will.
So that's my experience and it seems to be others too - i didn't have the time to find an alternative, time wasn't on our side, just make sure you use anyone but this organisation.
Absolutely disgusting my solicitor…
Absolutely disgusting my solicitor Christopher kitson has not been in touch with me for months regarding my will
Simpsons solicitors cannot improve as they are incompetent.
Simpsons solicitors cannot improve as they are still making the same errors we as customers are complaining about. My case is too long to write down and unbelievably so I am saying to all do not use Simpsons solicitors Rubery.
They even wrote themselves as executors in my will without my permission
Money down the drain
My husband and I purchased a trust fund will each. We paid around 1k upfront. The initial call with them was fine. Months went by and no contact. It was around 6 months after paying that we finally saw our draft wills. They were full of mistakes such as spelling errors, incorrect relations, there were about 16. They were supposed to be almost mirrored wills so couldn’t understand the amount of discrepancies. We complained, was promised the amendments would be made quickly but at least two weeks went by. It came back with errors again. We got frustrated and complained again asking for a refund. We were not happy with the proposed refund amount so went to legal ombudsman. After months of waiting, they basically agreed the refund amount was reasonable due to work having been done on the wills. It took about a month to get the solicitors to refund us. By this stage a year had passed since we started this process. We have ended up around £700 out of pocket and no wills. We were told we could still get them completed with them but we lost all faith.
Not just incompetent - illiterate
My wife and I made the mistake of using Simpsons Solicitors to prepare a will. This should have been extremely straightforward: there are no complexities in our financial or family situation. We just wanted peace of mind.
We got the complete opposite. At first everything seemed as though it was going well. Then we were asked to proofread the documents to confirm they were as we wanted. They were not. Names were mispelled; addresses were mispelled; dates were incorrect.
We were surprised that so many problems had cropped up with routine documents, but we duly made all the corrections and submitted the files via Simpsons' online portal.
We then went through this process three or four times. No matter how many times we submitted corrected documents, errors persisted uncorrected. Even more annoyingly, as this process dragged out over months, we would receive nagging emails demanding that we approve the documents by a set deadline or have them filed by default.
The latest round of this cycle culminated with a demand that we physically sign documents that had been posted to us. Unfortunately we had received no documents. When we finally managed to get in touch with someone about this, they expressed puzzlement that we hadn't received them. Mysteriously they arrived two days later. I am virtually certain they had simply never bothered to post them in the first place.
And the wills *still* aren't right.
Absolutely useless. I'd have more confidence in an online service charging 20 quid for wills. And I would have saved substantial amounts of time and money if I'd gone with that option.
Our original Solicitors seem to have…
Our original Solicitors seem to have been taken over by Simpsons. Our Will was and still is fine no changes needed. I have been inundated with phone calls from this Company still do not know why they need to keep calling. Sometimes 3 times a dsy, this harrassment. I will be contacting the Law Society to make a complaint about this harrassment.
AVOID getting even a basic will made…
AVOID getting even a basic will made with this company. They are hopeless. And as others have said, poor communication, errors, lost paperwork and endless delays doing even simple things make the whole experience frustrating at best.
Wish we had read the reviews
Wish we had read the reviews , they are a terrible company , had to change from the first trainee solicitor after she canceled meeting 3 times at very short notice
I telephoned and asked for the process to be cancelled and for them to return funds , I was promised there would be no problems and told no more charges
Now 10 months later they are demanding more money.
We have asked on many occasion for a breakdown of the funds we have already paid ….still Nothing !!!!!
BE WARNED , I WISH WE WERE
Do Not Use!
Do Not Use!
By overlooking the core evidence and misapplying a key legal test that actually supported the claim, a lawful and legitimate claim was rejected without proper consideration.
It is disappointing that this type of incomplete review can result in GMB union members being let down, especially where the evidence clearly meets the required legal requirements for a valid claim!
LACK OF COMMUNICATION AND RUDE
LACK OF COMMUNICATION AND RUDE
After chasing numours times for updates on the estate and receiving no response for months. To receive a rude responce is disgraceful and appalling to say the least. "My manager is reviewing the file" is a good line they like to use.
AVOID AT ALL COST
Avoid! Not worth the hassle!
Reading other people’s reviews hasn’t surprised me after the experience I have had. My will was “acquired” by Simpsons after my solicitor apparently stopped providing or storing wills. My husband and I assumed that both our wills had been transferred to them but one of their very nice solicitors informed us that they only had mine (three years after the transfer).
My husband has tracked his down. We’ve decided to go with a local, recommended solicitor for new wills with amendments but Simpsons are refusing to send my will back to me and being very obstructive to my wishes even though I never asked for my will to go to them in the first place.
I will be making a new will with the local solicitor whether they return mine or not but the way the operate isn’t impressive and doesn’t instil any confidence in their ability to provide the service you need!
Paid for a will three years ago, still don't have one!
I paid for a will three years ago. The first meeting was comprehensive; however, the solicitor didn’t reply to my final email. I contacted them again and finally received a reply last year, when I was told I would need to pay to recover my case.
After checking the terms I had signed up to, I pointed out that there were no details to recover, as they hadn’t produced anything, and the fee was waived. I then made some progress, but later received a letter in the post including my “draft will", except there was no will included, just the covering letter.
This year I was called and told my solicitor had left. Eventually I was contacted by Ellie Surridge. We’ve had a few email exchanges and got to a draft will; however, it was incorrect. I submitted feedback, and I now have three unread messages in their portal over two months later and still don’t have a will, and I’m £1,500 worse off for the experience.
As many others have also reviewed: don’t bother.
Very disappointing experience
Very disappointing experience. We asked Simpsons of Nailsea to draft our wills for us but the process was beset with errors on their part. Wills had to be drafted 5 times due to basic grammatical errors (such as referring to my husband as a woman); errors that had been corrected resurfaced in later drafts, and there was clearly no proof reading. When I complained, there was no acknowledgment that this was a poor standard of service. These were very simple wills so I would not recommend Simpsons at all.
Terrible
Terrible!
My mother did a LPA and will with this company . They got the dates of birth and the spelling of the names wrong . It took nearly a year , delay after delay rude email replies saying we spelt our own names wrong we even provided passports . The will has been done not as requested and names also spelt wrong . I have asked for a refund but they refused. Save your money pick a different company .
Free Will service provided by these solicitors.
I had my Will written by them at their Southwick office. It was totally free as I am over 55 years. They were very helpful and the Legal Advisor who handled my case was very knowledgeable. He was also very prompt with reply to emails and in answering my questions. They were very friendly too. I would recommend them. No issues whatsoever. I now have a complete Will stored at their offices for FREE and forever. Thank you.
Dreadful
Dreadful, don’t use. Impossible to contact, unreliable. Documents supposedly sent never arrive.
Disgraceful and shameful practice.

Extremely disappointing and stressful experience
Our case was transferred to this firm after Terry Jones Solicitors went into liquidation. We had an initial conversation and meeting where a quote was discussed, but we never signed any terms of engagement or authorised work to proceed.
After chasing for updates and receiving no meaningful response for months, we were suddenly sent draft wills along with an invoice for over £1,000. We immediately made it clear that we did not wish to proceed.
Despite this, we are now receiving aggressive debt recovery letters, including references to legal action, for work we did not agree to or formally instruct.
Attempts to contact the firm by phone have been unsuccessful, and communication throughout has been extremely poor.
This situation has caused unnecessary stress and concern. We are now in the process of raising a formal complaint with the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Based on our experience, I would strongly advise others to ensure they have clear written agreements in place before any work is carried out.
I would not recommend Simpsons…
I would not recommend Simpsons Solicitors
We instructed them to amend my husband will to reflect a change of address and my name following our marriage because our original solicitor had gone into administration and they had taken over. This should have been a straight forward and routine amendment, however the work provided was of a very poor standard. Most concerningly they failed to correctly update my name in the will, despite this being one of the main reasons for the instructions. Given the importance of accuracy in such documents, this was not a minor issue and along with other mistakes meant we could not rely on the will as drafted. As a result we had to instruct a local solicitor to redo the work properly. They were able to complete the amendments quickly and without difficulty, highlighting the shortcomings in the service we had received. We paid substantially for work that ultimately had to be redone and had to pay fully for again, I raised a formal complaint but this was not handled satisfactorily and a refund was refused. Given the importance of wills and the need for accuracy I would strongly recommend avoiding this organisation.
Demanding payment for a "Free Will"
A friend of mine was visited by them to write a "Free" Will.
She decided not to take up the option as she found them unprofessional. She has now received a phone call demanding £1,400 for a service she did not receive.
She feels so intimidated she is going to pay it.
Not a nice way to treat a pensioner in her late 70s.
