100% disabled veteran and I'll make appointments and they never call. When you call them about not keep phone interviews they laugh at you and continue to hang up! Horrible people most should be able to be fired but never will because it's a government job!

Social Security changes my banking information to a closed bank account. Hence, I am not getting my checks. I depend on this money to pay my mortgage. I can’t work with them on the phone because they say they can’t. I don’t have a car. I was hung up on today when I asked for a supervisor and I wasn’t even being rude or anything. I am stuck. I feel bad for anyone who has to deal with such an enept and antiquated program. I wish this wasn’t happening. I can’t pay my bills. I am at their mercy. I guess a scammer could get through easier.

I would like to thank PSO M. James and the officer Mr. Dave Corbin for the excellent service I received on 6th of May2026 at the Trenton SSA office. Everyone was courteous, patient and very helpful in answering my questions and guiding me through the process.

My late wife was awarded social security disability after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer and breast cancer. My wife received treatment and still wanted to work. My wife, every month for 3 years checked in with the Hermitage Pennsylvania Social Security Office on Garden Way. Every month the social security office assured my wife that she was properly abiding by the rules regarding the hours that she was working (told her she is not working more hours then allotted). My juvenile son was also receiving social security disability because of my wifes disability. 3 years later here comes the famous Hermitage Pennsylvania social security office overpayment scam letter. Social security claimed they were overpaying my wife for 3 years (meanwhile my wife checked in with the social security office monthly and told her everything was fine). The social security office retroactively went after my wife claiming she owed a large amount of money because of the alleged overpayment. Then social security went after my juvenile son again claiming that there was an overpayment. My wife hired an attorney and filed an appeal. The alleged overpayment was clearly the fault of the social security office because they obviously are unable to do basic math. In October 2024 my wife came out of remission and was diagnosed with cancer in her liver. In addition to the cancer, the stress caused by the incompetence / deceit of the Hermitage Social security office resulted in my wifes passing in February 2026. My wife went to her grave thinking that she not only was a physical burden but also a financial burden. After my wifes passing I went to the Hermitage pa social security office. I declined any survivors benefits for myself and my juvenile son. The clerk asked why I was declining the benefits and I explained that I did not want the social security office coming after my son, years later, with another alleged overpayment scam. The clerk stated " WE WOULD NEVER COME AFTER YOUR SON, HE WOULD BE GRANTED A WAIVER". A month after this conversation my son received 2 social security letters demanding that he pay 2 different monetary amounts (1 letter had one amount, the 2nd letter had another completely different monetary amount). My advice based on the vile experience my wife and family suffered is this. The Hermitage Pennsylvania Social Security Office is making up for their mishandling of OUR MONEY that we paid into social security by claiming these "overpayment" scams. They purposely wait for several years, fabricate a false amount and then demand you pay immediately. The employees are very inconsistent and each time my late wife had a question and called the office, the employee would give her a completely different answer from what she received before. They are thieves, liars ( lied about not coming after my juvenile son and granting him a waiver) and will put someone in the grave for something that they didnt do. Immediately hire an attorney before interacting with them. We also never got our appeal hearing because, according to the Hermitage social security office, the appeal was "lost" on a desk for 10 months (so much for our day in court).

I am very concerned with how the disabled and struggling are being treated by this organization. This agency doesn't consider the struggles of younger people enough. I suffer from severe fibromyalgia, endometriosis, and asthma that interfere with my work life and make me miss more work than able-bodied people. I had to drop out of school because of how severe my conditions were. There are many like myself who have been living with disabilities since childhood, do not have access to healthy support systems, and are in fear of becoming homeless. I make less than 1500 dollars per month, yet I keep getting denied just because I'm working. I am tired of this invalidating "you're not disabled enough," rhetoric when I am living in existential dread every day and worried that I will not make it in this world. During the most difficult period of my life, too.

I have heard very similar stories from other people who are going through even worse times than I am and are older, yet they STILL cannot get benefits. This system is broken. And for those who do get approved, they may not even be receiving enough to fully cover their life expenses.

Also, their website's UI is awful and not user friendly at all. I need a lawyer to help me navigate and file appeals on my behalf because it's too hard to find what I need myself. It is so difficult to get in touch with a real human over the phone. One time, I was on hold for almost an hour.

The website asks for one verification after another, and makes you enter each one multiple times before allowing you to proceed. The phone service is the most vile I've ever experienced. It takes at least five calls to get through to their voicemail and when I finally reached a live representative, after forty minutes, he was nasty, quick, abrasive and totally unhelpful. I'll be ready for death benefits before I'm able to get through and apply for medicare.

Absolutely horrible at listening, doesn’t complete requests in a timely manner, and never notates on any people’s files to make sure things get done and there is a paper trail. SSN was to cancel Medicare in January for my mother, didn’t officially get cancellation confirmation until last month and are still charging her in April! Horrible excuse for people in charge of people’s wellbeing and retirement. SSN and Medicare should be one in the same or have nothing to do with the other-no organization or communication on their end until I have to call and message back and forth for months at a time to get answers. SSN shouldn’t be involved in enrollment or disenrollment of any health benefits.

I went to the social security office at 9:30 window 8 ., the lady got really annoyed because I went back to ask her why my bank account didn’t seemed to be updated on my phone and I showed her that I already have benefits and I wanted to know how fast were the benefits gonna be transferred to my account and she just kept saying I already chafed your bank account if you have any other problem you need to fill out a form ., I’m like I just want to know if there’s a way for you to know how fast I’m getting my benefits., my husband just passed And I need my $ to buy food it’s so hard to go out and talk to people and this people are just so rude ……..

They are a bunch of crooks, especially the administration judges. They give benefits to scammers but deny disabled veterans

I spoke to three different agents and got incorrect information from all of them. Go to your local office where they have genuine and accurate answers to your questions. I was told they did not automatically calculate additional work years after you begin collecting Social Security benefits, that I had to come in to provide proof, and that Social Security used people to calculate and there weren't enough of them so calculations would take 3 to 5 years. Terribly confusing and incorrect. iI I didn't know better....

Online interaction with Social Security is horrible! Instructions do not relate to the problem to be solved. Methods and links are cryptic. I wasted 8 hours getting nowhere trying to access my SS account. I'm hoping that a visit to the post office will work, but I have no confidence.

I just called the 1-800-9979550, the live agent was extremely rude and condescending and kept insisting that I was not listening to her. I told her that Green Dot money card would always release my social security payment on the 29th of the previous month that is assigned to on the 3rd. She proceeded to say that I was not the only one complaining about this issue and told me to take the issue up with the bank and then hung up on me. I have severe rheumatoid arthritis, require the use of bilateral orthotics on my hands therefore I cannot use the keyboard and I cannot drive. This agent told me that I have to go to my bank to go figure out this discrepancy! I told her she was rude and condescending and should not be a customer service agent for the elderly and she did not have the patience nor the professional training to assist us. This individual should not be allowed to work with the elderly.

I just had a horrible experience with Social Security administration. My taxes were were offset by Treasury to pay Social Security which wasn't supposed to happen. I have an active payment plan with them I make monthly payments to them for Years! My overpayment started off at 10,000, from there it has risen to 41,000 SS said it's because they have been sending me payments when they weren't supposed to. I have not received a payment from them for 7 years and I have been making payments to them this whole time through their website. I strongly believe they're at fault they have been provided with check stubs from me for my pt employment. They actually need to hire new staff, staff that is very well knowledgeable in math. Someone that cares needs to look over my file and do the correct adjustments. I have also asked SS for a fair hearing since day one and I still haven't been granted one. These ppl are unknowledgeable SS needs to hire a younger generation that will come in ready to work with a fresh Brain and full of wisdom to clean up they're mess!...I went into one of the appointments in the Glendale office a Hispanic gentleman was supposedly being helped by a female worker in the window next to me. This lady was so disrespectful to him she was raising her voice at him, she kept smacking her teeth she had no empathy she was just plain evil and mean! She made this man cry, he was in a wheel chair with a large oxygen tank explaining to her that he had just gotten out of the hospital he was in there for a few weeks and he was still feeling sick. He also mentioned that he hadn't received his check and he needed it to pay his rent and utilities. She turned around and said oh well you should have kept your appointment if your lucky I will approve it tomorrow if not it won't be till next month. He said but mam please! She turned around and said what part did you not understand do I have to repeat myself. I then leaned in and said you are so rude and nasty this is a grown man your talking too he is not a child, definitely not your child. You need to stop treating him like that is it because your mistreated at home. Well don't come taking out your frustration upon your customers he isn't asking you for anything you have a job because of ppl like us. We have worked hard for for many years for this money it isn't coming out of your pocket. She said mam I'm not talking to you, I responded no not directly but you are making his business known to everyone with with your rude load voice!...
I told the gentleman to ask for her supervisor, file an aggrievance against her! I'm not sure where they had his check or they provided him a hand written check but the Supervisor handed it over to him. Ppl were saying finally someone spoke out to her and the gentleman was appreciative.
And no I wasn't being nosey but I also wasn't going to sit there and allow for this gentleman to be bullied and mistreated by this worker!...

The social security administration is one of the top agency in my opinion that can ease a individual finanancial difficulties when faced with a life changing event. I had a life changing event 16 years ago and my expierence with the customer service rep that answered my call to the claims rep who I met on the day of my appointment was kind and compassionate. No one individual is perfect, the employees that work with SSA are caring, kind,compassionate, empathetic, and understanding. Everyone expierences may not be the same and while many of us are dealing with health issues and life changing situation can oftentimes be frustrated at how long the wait time can be either on phone or in person visiting an office. What we as the public should remember is that the employees are human and they provide and give each individual their best on any given day. SSA is consitently trying to improve and implement methods to improve the customer expierence.

Today, March 18, 2026 I had the unfortunate experience of witnessing the most unprofessional security officer that I have encountered. The officer who was assigned to the post/ desk located near the kiosk in the lobby of this SSA office on Hamilton Rd in Columbus, Ohio needs reprimanded for his poor attitude, tone of voice and condensing comments:

*This officer told another grown man to “Take a ticket out the kiosk and sit”!!!!

*This officer scolded another man take his drink back to his car and when the man said can I just keep it in my pocket, the officer said very aggressively “ there are no drinks aloud anywhere in this lobby”!!!!

*This officer also threatened the entire lobby because a couple of citizens apparently forgot to silence their cell phones. His excessive sarcasm and demeanor was very unprofessional.

The service at this Social Security office was extremely disappointing. Most of the staff were rude, dismissive, and treated people with very little respect. It felt like they had no patience for questions and were not interested in helping the public.

The attitude of several employees was unprofessional and, at times, came across as discriminatory. People come here because they need assistance with important matters, and they deserve to be treated with dignity and professionalism.

The only person who was kind and respectful was the security guard, who actually greeted people and treated them politely. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff should learn from that example.

This office seriously needs better customer service and professionalism.

The answers from the staff was responded quickly. The information was easy to understand.

People in this business should just quit if they don’t like there job. I can’t stand rude disrespectful people for no reason. Waiting 30min is fine but to talk to someone who doesn’t want to help just help everyone and quit.
