ToursByLocals Reviews

Go was the perfect guide for our group. He was friendly, knowledgable and flexible. I would welcome any tour that he led

Our excellent guide Susan's depth of knowledge and passionate love of Charleston's history and architecture infused and energized every step of our 2.5 hour walking tour. Her ability to weave the stories of people and places (buildings) into an engaging and informative narrative gave us so much more understanding and appreciation than we could've gotten from large group or trolley tours or on our own with guide books. We highly recommend her tour.

We really enjoyed our tour with Oliver. He was very knowledgeable and shared so much interesting information about the history, culture and local life. we especially appreciated his helpful recommendations for local restaurants and massage places, which made our trip even for enjoyable.

Tours by Locals has been my go to company for all my private tours in European countrys. The latest is true for our tours in Portugal and Spain on our latest vacation. Nuno, Miriam, and Al. Highly recommend this companies.

Our tour guide Mateo was absolutely the best an fantastic that he is a native of Venice and also has a master in art history from the University there. So personable with perfect English. We saw details and facts we would never have experienced if not for his guidance. Thank you tour by locals and Matteo! Plus the extra bonus of getting a second day with a boat tour was amazing seeing things normal tourists don’t.

I always use tours by locals for my travels and consistently have excellent experience. The guide are usually very enthusiastic and knowledgable, transportation comfortable and itinerary quite flexible.

Well prepared to tour and learn about the city. Saw what we asked for and more. I have trouble walking and it was no problem as Hakim helped at all times.
He was personable and you felt like family. Truly great experience.

Steve was a terrific tour guide, he was knowledgeable and mindful of my interests. I got to see everything on my Hanoi wish list and more, and I gained valuable insights into Vietnam culture and history.

Betty Lopez was great! First of all, a person in our group had dehydration issues the day before and Betty brought plenty of water and hydration powders. She was passionate and very informative about San Miguel de Allende; I cannot recommend her enough!

Sally did a wonderful job with my tour of Sydney. She is a traveler as well and understands both sides of tours for seasoned travelers. Her knowledge of Sydney was excellent. I have used her information on the rest of my stay here to make the most of it.

Great and knowledgeable guide and the grand bazaar and lunch was awesome! Been to Istanbul several times before never knew there was so much to be seen. Would recommend this tour and Aykut is a great guide!

We had a fantastic day exploring Istanbul with Sergün and would highly recommend him to anyone visiting this incredible city!
After our cruise ship docked at Galataport, Sergün met us and walked us to the tram, helping us with the ticket process and making everything easy from the very beginning.

We explored Istanbul’s historic Old City, starting with the magnificent Blue Mosque, followed by Sultanahmet Square and its three historic monuments: the Obelisk of Theodosius, the Serpent Column and the Walled Obelisk. We wandered through a charming little bazaar, visited the fascinating Basilica Cistern, explored the bustling Grand Bazaar and Spice Bazaar, and discovered two more beautiful mosques, including the impressive Süleymaniye Mosque, with its stunning views over Istanbul and historic cemetery.
Sergün also introduced us to some local Turkish food and took us to a shop selling locally made baklava. The baklava was absolutely delicious!

Throughout the tour, Sergün was knowledgeable, engaging and passionate about Istanbul’s rich history and culture. He brought the sights to life with his interesting stories and information, while ensuring we felt safe, comfortable and relaxed. He was thoughtful and flexible, happily accommodating those in our group who wanted to do some extra shopping before walking us back to the cruise port.

We couldn’t have asked for a better guide. His friendly manner, local knowledge and willingness to go the extra mile made our day exploring Istanbul truly memorable.

Highly recommend Sergün if you’re visiting Istanbul! He made discovering this wonderful city an absolute pleasure.
