ToursByLocals Reviews

We have used this company to book tours in several countries. We have enjoyed all the tours. The guides have been knowledgeable and flexible.

Marie did an excellent job of showing me the island. She was very knowledgeable about the history of the island and turns out is a descendent of one of the original land owners from the 1600's. Can't get any more authentic than that. Comfortable, clean transportation and was very flexible in where we stopped. Exceeded my expectations. Thank you!

I wanted to share this wonderful feedback I received from my clients following their time with Sara T in Rome. They were truly impressed by your service and wanted me to let you know right away how much they appreciated everything she did for them.

Their words say it best:

“Dio,

We’ll elaborate more after our trip, but we wanted you to know right away how absolutely wonderful Sara was in Rome. She was truly beyond exceptional.

Sara is not only incredibly knowledgeable and gifted at what she does, but she is also warm, friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel so well taken care of throughout our time with her. She always seemed to know exactly what we needed and consistently guided us in the right direction.

We sincerely hope she receives many referrals from you because she is an absolute gem and a tremendous asset. We would give her five stars without hesitation, and if there were ten stars, we would gladly give her all ten!

We are so grateful for the wonderful experience she provided and look forward to sharing more after our trip.

Thank you,

Debra & the Gang”

We are so grateful to Leti for preparing and guiding us around the streets and points of interest within the historical city of Cadiz. Communication ahead of our arrival in Cadiz was easy and Leti made sure to plan a route that would meet our needs. Some last minute adjustments were necessary due to traffic and pedestrian disruption, but Leti kept us informed in the days before the tour, and the 4-hour tour was brilliant. Leti’s knowledge of Cadiz from its Phoenician roots to present day, and her communication skills (fluent English for us) made this such an engaging and interesting tour. Stopping for refreshments and comfort were easily arranged and the time passed by too quickly. We have no hesitation in recommending Leti as your Cadiz tour guide.

We were incredibly fortunate to connect with Agatha. Before our trip to Krakow, she worked extensively with our family to help us achieve our primary goal: finding the town where my grandparents were from. After I shared all the information I had, Agatha successfully located the town and arranged a two-hour trip there, including a meeting with the local priest to walk through the cemetery. She was just as excited as we were when we found the gravestones of possible relatives.

Beyond her dedicated research into our family heritage, Agatha showed us the beauty of Krakow. She introduced us to amazing Polish cuisine during a tour of the public market and the Jewish Quarter and provided excellent restaurant recommendations for our evenings. She spent three days with us, and our family was truly sad to say goodbye. We have traveled the world and been on many private tours, but Agatha was an exceptional guide who ranks at the very top. She is a true asset to TourByLocal and a must-book guide for anyone visiting Krakow.

Dewi is a wealth of knowledge and a terrific entertainer. He guided us through an engaging Spy Tour with loads of facts and great stories.

TBL is a fantastic platform to find the most experienced and hospitable guides. We have used them many times and this Paris trip guided by Claudio A., was no exception. It enhances the experience and is well worth the additional investment. Chances are, you'll do this one. Get it right.

Adam is knowledgeable and super entertaining. We really enjoyed our time with him. In addition to the tour, he gave us valuable local insight and recommendations.

Jelena was a wonderful guide for the history and architecture of Split

Xavier was a great guide for our group in Quebec City. He was very knowledgeable and interesting in his presentation. We had a lot of questions about the area not even related to the tour and he was happy to answer those. We would highly recommend him.

ToursByLocals is my first place to look! I know exactly who I'm booking and what my tour will be. I travel a lot with my mom who uses a wheelchair and we have had so many fantastic tour guides that have accommodated our needs to their tours. I really appreciate being to contact the person giving the tour before I purchase. I'm not contacting a company, I'm contacting the person directly. Every tour has been sensational. Superb site to book tours!

Spent a fun, relaxing and very informative day with Alphonso Munoz in Segovia & Avila! His knowledge of the history & details about these two beautiful towns was impressive. He was organized, punctual and genuinely interested in sharing his passion for the history of Spain. We highly recommend his tours; what an amazing day!

We had a 5 hour tour of Thessaloniki on October 3, 2026 with Dimitrios. Dimitrios is a tremendous tour guide, but even more, he is an extraordinarily knowledgeable historian. His knowledge is not limited to Greek history, but expands to a great understanding of biblical history. He is warm, engaging and quite amusing, which we enjoyed a great deal! We are thrilled that we were his 100th tour with Tours By Locals!

My wife and I visited the Isle of Skye at the end of September 2026.

We booked a one-day car and driver tour through Tours by Locals with Stuart M.

Stuart gave us a wonderful tour.

He is friendly, knowledgeable, well versed in local history, patient, accommodating, and his car is very comfortable.

We recommend Stuart to anyone visiting the Isle of Skye.

Alluring Bangkok Custom Made Private Tour with Jay K. was one of the best experiences we had in all of our tours with Tours By Locals. She was informative, experienced, helpful, caring, and catered to our every needs. She accommodated us on the sites we wanted to see and made sure we enjoyed every moment of the tour. I highly recommend this tour if you’ve never been to Bangkok. Thank you Jay!

All four of us are greatful to Chia Tai for his excellent work as Gied. He is a bery professional, knowledgible, and very friendly person. He made our time in Kyoto memorable.
Thanks a lot Chia!
Eugene, Marina, Leonid, Bella.

We really loved it! Lui's deep family history in the Pearl Harbor area, personal service in the navy, and passion for the full history of the Pearl Harbor attack and events leading up to it really made it an enjoyable excursion for us. In addition to seeing the sites, we really learned a lot. Lui was there right on time and made it easy for us to connect with him and get started. We did it as part of a cruise stop and Lui stayed on top of the timeline we needed to get back to the ship.

Juan Pablo was great. He was knowledgeable, flexible, and encouraging, and we had an awesome day on
Cotopaxi

We booked two private tours with Martin, and both were highlights of our time in Boston. Martin is a wonderful guide. He has lived in Boston for more than 30 years and shares sharp insights, great historical details and his own stories about the city.

Tour 1: The Freedom Trail and Boston's neighborhoods

This tour showed us how Boston has changed over the centuries. We saw Boston Common, the State House, Granary Burial Ground, King's Chapel, Old South Meeting House, the Old State House, Faneuil Hall, Paul Revere's house, the USS Constitution and Bunker Hill, and we had time to go inside the Old North Church. Martin's telling of the Battle of Bunker Hill was a highlight. He also drove us through the North End, Charlestown, Beacon Hill, Back Bay, Fenway and Copley Square, and offered a cannoli stop in the North End. There were plenty of chances for photos, including great stops at the Old State House and Beacon Hill. There's a moderate amount of walking, but it's never tiring.

Tour 2: Lexington and Concord

Martin picked us up downtown and drove us past Harvard (we made a quick photo op stop here too!) and MIT, then followed Paul Revere's route to Lexington and Concord. We stopped at Lexington Green, the Hancock-Clarke House, Munroe Tavern, Buckman Tavern, Battle Road, Orchard House and the Old North Bridge. He brought the events of April 1775 to life, and we came away understanding what happened and how it unfolded. Most of the tour is spent in a comfortable private vehicle with short stops at each site, so there's very little walking. That makes it a great choice for anyone who wants the history without a long day on their feet.

Whichever tour you choose, we highly recommend Martin. With both tours you'll see a lot of history and a lot of Boston with a knowledgeable, friendly local.

We have took two tours with ToursByLocals in Scotland and both were great experiences. The guides have been local and expert in the region and subject matter as well as personable and informative. We feel like our vacations are more enjoyable when we get this kind of tour and insight.
