I have recently arranged my new mortgage with Cumberland (Matthew) and one of my conditions were to have home insurance in place. Matthew my mortgage advisor since my offer of loan has been approved has been nothing but helpful always there to help and when I spoke to him about this condition he was able to get me the right insurance in place to suit my needs. Poor service from start to finish.
Took out a plan through uinsure and answered all of their questions honetly and to the best of my knowledge, however I then tried to make a claim on my roof which was then declined as the insurer said it was wear and tear.
I am not a roof specialist and did not know that the roof was not in a good state of repair, and I was not advised to get it, or any other part of the house checked by a professional. I could only answer the question as best as I knew, and the roof was not leaking so I of course assumed it was all ok. I had not been up there and nor had I been told to check it either. The uinsure questions are literelly "is your house in generally a good state of repair".
I think that this could be an issue for many people out there and I think they need to do more to help stop things like this happen yet they just want the money.
During the cliams process, I found the whole process very restrictive and geared around trying not to pay out.
