About Vets Now
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

meh, i expected better.
The receptionist and the doctors were lovely.
However, this is the first time i've ever had to bring my budgie in for any medical treatment, and he is very small.. i was given two different antibiotics to give three times a day for 5 DAYS!! which is quite a lot. it's incredibly overwhelming for someone who's never had to do this before. I asked the vet if he could do the first dose, so I could watch, and learn how to do it, and he just said no.
pdsa which is a charity, no matter how busy they are has at least taught us how to do it administer medication for the first time.
for that reason I would not recommend.
We used the out of hours service
We used the out of hours service, because our cat was limping and we knew that it had damaged its back leg, the cost of an X-Ray was £400. That was just to confirm a leg breakage when it was not needed, if it had been I would expect a charge of around up to £120 would be reasonabl, but despite the trained staff who I do not doubt their compassion and passion and care could not just advise to take care and see the vets in the morning and make a reasonable assumption from their experience that it was a breakage or simply bruising. It is incredible to see how much vet erinary charges actually are.
Help for a sick puppy...
We are very happy with the service provided by Vets Now when our puppy (5 months) licked a jellyfish and vomited very soon afterward! They answered the phone faster than the local vet line and offered an appointment at 7pm on Bank Holiday Sunday at their nearest clinic. The guy was reassuring and professional- just what we needed!

Why is it my dog always eats a sock out of hours. Second time using emergency vet’s. Great service and sock retrieved quickly, I’m just £445 lighter! I do think the initial consultation is very steep. Granted some times it can be claimed back on insurance, not everyone has insurance and I didn’t claim for a sock that hadn’t passed the stomach, just in case one day she may need surgery which I pray she doesn’t. But over £300 pounds to walk through the door, wish we could go back to independent vet practices again and it not be about making the corporation richer!
Excellent and very professional
A long wait but the vet was excellent as was the nurse. They explained everything and advised I should see my own vet as a p. They provided medication

Blown away by the emergency op and service received at the Peterborough branch over the bank Holiday, whilst my own vets was closed. Such a lovely team that reassured me through the tough moments and I was just thrilled to have met such great people that were caring for our lab.

The Vet i saw was a definite 5star my main concern is the price to be seen in an emergency. You expect to pay more when your own Vets are closed but £302:50 is a trifle expensive.
Emergency Service
The service was excellent especially in an emergency situation like ours the process was explained every step of the way and the treatment immediately administered very happy customer

I was able to get Ace treated promptly on 30/8/26
Arrived at 11.30 pm ….. wait 2.5 hours
Arrived at 11.30 pm
Receptionist saw us and we weighed our dog!
Then waited for 2.5 hours (eventually found a switch to open to external doors as we were locked in!) having shouted through lots of doors to ask why we hadn’t been seen. Nobody around at all!!!!!!
Thinking that obviously they had an emergency.
Once we were able to get out the building we pressed the buzzer … seen promptly but were told the vets had no idea we were there. Saw our dog and treated her. So the actual vet side was amazing. The 2.5 hour wait was unacceptable and to be still charged £612 was in my opinion unfair! In this instance waiving some of the emergency call fee would have made things a little better.

I brought my 13 year old cocker spaniel…
I brought my 13 year old cocker spaniel in due to breathing and coughing issues. I was dealt with compassion as i was blubbing like a baby. They thoroughly checked over my girl and went through all options available, even ringing my husband to inform him of options. They didnt rush me in making a decision. They showed immense compassion, care and love and advised of next steps if no improvement. All the staff were kind and caring.
Poor claims admin
The actual service we received for our dog's bronchitis was good. However, I paid the additional fee for Vets Now to administer the claim. Over four weeks later and I am still phoning the Claims Dept chasing them to submit the claim to my insurance company. Always promised it will be done, but never is. Meanwhile, I remain out of pocket for a not inconsiderable amount of money.
Excellent service
All staff from the lady who answered my initial call, to the receptionist and vet were friendly, helpful and polite. Totally transparent about cost involved . Quick appointment and treatment.
