Only one item arrived , the water butt. I rang customer services who just said someone will get back to you in 2 days. They could have dealt with it then but anyway 2 days later an email asking how they can help, what's the problem. I emailed back and then never heard another thing. Customer service non existent. Would never order online from them again.

Avoid if anything goes wrong — awful complaint handling

I have now had repeated problems with Yorkshire Trading Company and the customer-service experience has been appalling.

My earlier order was delayed and eventually lost. I spent a long time chasing it, and when I telephoned, the adviser I dealt with, Jordan, laughed during the call while I was explaining that the planters were urgently needed for a memorial garden for my late father and that plants were already suffering because of the delay.

I made a formal complaint about that conduct and asked for the call and records to be reviewed. Instead, once replacement goods eventually arrived, Terri simply wrote that they “now consider the matter closed”.

I made clear that replacing lost goods did not resolve a complaint about how I had been treated. I asked for a proper investigation, written response and management review. I even submitted a Subject Access Request. Records were later supplied, but the actual staff-conduct complaint was never properly answered.

I then placed another order — Order #1397866 — and received three planters with visibly cracked and broken rims/corners. I sent photographic evidence and requested a full refund, and once again I have had to chase.

So my experience has included:

* delayed and lost goods;
* repeated chasing;
* plants badly affected by delays;
* a member of staff laughing during a call while I was discussing bereavement and a memorial garden;
* a complaint being treated as “closed” without actually answering it;
* damaged goods on a later order;
* and yet more chasing for a basic refund.

What concerns me most is not simply that mistakes happened. It is the way complaints were handled afterwards.

I would strongly advise customers to think carefully before ordering anything time-sensitive from this company. If your order goes wrong, my experience is that getting a proper complaint investigated is extraordinarily difficult.

I ordered a kangaroo dog toy and received an elephant. I email the company stating the error. I have not received a reply. They did contact me for a review of my purchase experience. This is my review.

What a gem finding Yorkshire trading company online was. Scrolling through their web page they have a lot of varied quality items at amazing prices. Branded items you might not easily find elsewhere and definitely not for the price YTC retails them for. Really cheap delivery for a really heavy order. The quality of packaging was over an beyond what someone normally receive from retailers. And the items I had purchased were amazing quality and even better than advertised. I am so impressed, thank you to all at Yorkshire Trading Company, 10 out of 10.

I was a little surprised at how badly the box was packed, which resulted in the three games I bought being squashed and bent…. I had bought these as Christmas presents.
