Before I joined this community, I was struggling a lot with the academic writing process. My papers kept getting rejected, and I felt this constant mix of insecurity and burnout, even though I loved my field - psychology and psychoanalysis. I created a sustainable writing habit by watching lectures, studying, learning, and working with perfect worksheets focused on each part of each article type. I feel like I have made incredible progress. But this process takes time, of course. So be patient with yourself.

My mindset has changed. I used to be goal-oriented and focused on getting a study published. Now I understand that writing is a meaningful journey that needs order, principles, and feedback. Using the templates and worksheets of the scholarly community is like having a GPS for academic writing. Each step feels interesting and safe.

I don't usually write reviews (no time) , but Marek and his team are truly amazing. Sure, it’s hard work, but you get tons of support throughout, and the content is broken down step-by-step, which makes it super manageable. It covers everything you could imagine and more. It's not just about writing—there's so much on mindset, planning, using AI effectively, making professional contacts, and even presenting your work. It's a complete guide to academic success, and I couldn't recommend it more if you're serious about improving your academic writing skills.

I had been searching for something like ‘Academic English Now’ for years and finally found it in 2023. I've been a member for a year now, and there's no doubt that it has helped me improve my English writing!

The service includes being assigned a coach and having the opportunity to join several 1-hour calls each week, where you can ask questions and discuss matters related to academic writing in English. Additionally, there are so-called master classes where invited speakers discuss specific themes, such as what an editor looks for in submitted articles. There are also numerous videos covering ‘how-to’ aspects of writing, such as productivity tips, overcoming procrastination, and writing a discussion section in a paper. While these topics aren't necessarily new and can be found in other guidebooks for students, the great thing is that they are presented in a more personal way, which serves as a common frame of reference for the weekly calls.
You also have the option to send written text to your coach, who will correct it and explain the corrections. That part was absolutely the best for me, and my coach was great (perhaps a bit too busy, though).

A community of students surrounds AEN. As a faculty member who needed to improve my writing in English, I found many of the discussions in the calls a bit basic, but I understand that these discussions might have been very helpful for the many PhD students. My interests were more focused on the English language side. I had also hoped for a more critical approach and less of an uncritical, anglocentric/'international' perspective. The members come from all over the world, which is absolutely great. Unfortunately, this was almost never reflected in the discussions.

A small note, but important to me, is that the ownership behind AEN is unclear, as is how the coaches are selected or what their qualifications are. AEN is also a very young company, which comes with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. The advantages include the team's enthusiasm, the ability to suggest ideas, and the sense that ‘we are in this together.’ The disadvantages are that things don't always run as smoothly as they could, AEN tries to cover all academic disciplines (which is, of course, impossible) and thus lands in a very general middle, and that the balance between the English language part and the academic writing part hasn't quite found its optimal equilibrium.

This is exactly the info I've been searching for. I struggled to translate business research to academic research.. The course is very articulate, well organized and has had a real impact on my writing structure. as I attempt to make the transition from business to academic research. Great Work!

I joined AEN at the end of 2021, and at that time, I was lost in my thesis writing! The results were ready, but I could not start writing since I was thinking, "I am a bad writer." This program provided the needed writing support that helped me start and finish my thesis. I struggled to be clear in my writing, and the coaches' support made all the difference. Although I took a course in grad school on how to write, it was not detailed or structured. This program is very structured and covers the PhD journey from the start to the end, like finding your research gap to preparing for your PhD defense. It is a 6-week program with 5-6 lectures each week, giving you all the support you need during your PhD. Also, the ongoing feedback and support from live coaches (thanks to Marek and Lynn) helped me keep up the writing habit, even when my advisor was too busy. I have finished writing my thesis, a research article, and a review article. I definitely recommend the program since it is a PhD saver.

I was totally lost in my PhD journey! I'm so grateful for their support. I had just passed my qualifying exam and I was struggling with putting together my dissertation proposal. This program provided the very needed structured support that helped me to make progress.The videos on 'How' to write for academic research are AMAZING. Yes, I took a course in grad school on how to write, but it was not as detailed or structured as this material. The ongoing feedback and support from live coaches really helped me to keep up the habit of writing, even when my advisor was too busy...I never felt like I was stuck waiting and waiting for feedback. I also like the weekly opportunities to talk through my thought process with other PhD scholars who are not experts in my field. I was really struggling to be clear in my writing and the support from this group made all the difference. Now, I'm focused on finishing the dissertation, presenting at conferences, and attending invited keynotes using the skills from this program.

It is a late review. I joined in 2021 and finished my PhD dissertation in 2022. Due to COVID-19, I received my degree from the Philippines in 2023. I have more great news later. In 2024, I received my offer as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the U.S. and am publishing my PhD dissertation as a book. :-) I am thankful for all the support from Academic English Now. I feel more confident after joining the program and learning from Marek's course videos. The course is excellent, very organized, and advanced. Going to the coaching videos and connecting with other scholars is also wonderful.

I am a PhD student, and I have joined the program two years before. It was a lifesaving for me as I had problems organising my thesis. I benefit from the material in the course and from the valuable feedback from my lovely coach Margarita.
