I trusted ACX because of their immediate connection to Amazon and Audible, thinking it would be a safe platform for authors like me. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I never imagined it would be so easy for scammers to operate on their platform.

I recently encountered a scammer who openly admitted to using AI for voice narration, which is a clear violation of ACX's policies. When I reported this to ACX, I expected them to take swift action to remove this person from their platform. Instead, they did nothing. The scammer is still active on ACX, which is incredibly concerning.

To make matters worse, I paid this scammer over $1,000 as a deposit, money that I am now seeking to recover through legal action. While I understand that ACX is not directly responsible for this loss, they should be doing a much better job of vetting the people they allow on their platform.

Dissolving the contract with this scammer was also a ridiculously time-consuming process. ACX promised it would take up to three days, but it ended up taking five days and a phone call before any action was taken. This added unnecessary stress and delay to the process of hiring a new producer.

As a result of these delays, all my paid advertising for my book's release is now inaccurate. My new producer couldn’t complete the audiobook in time, reflecting poorly on me as an author. The integrity of my book was compromised because my former producer violated ACX policies by using AI and had access to my manuscript—my intellectual property—before the book was even released.

This experience has been incredibly frustrating and upsetting. ACX needs to take more responsibility and enforce stricter policies to protect authors and narrators from scams and ensure the integrity of their work. I trusted ACX, and they let me down.

I gave two stars because I started with zero stars, but the encounters with their employees and support have been prompt, helpful and kind. At least their customer service is on par.

Total trash nonexistent 'tech' totally manned now by foreign or Canadian operators who have no clue how to assist since ACX 'upgraded' their platform removing timestamps etc. Half my chapters have audible "hiss" that is NOT in my file recordings. And NO ANSWERS. Apparently they were all abducted by aliens

The company, in particular its risk management team, considers themselves as God who could manipulate people's lives and ruin their rights at will just because they hold such a large share of the audible market. I spent more than 30 hours setting up the account, filling in forms, creating audio files complying with their stringent requirements etc., then I went on a business trip for a few days. On my return, I found my account deleted and everything is gone. Then I noticed an email to my personal addressing commanding me to respond within 24 hours regarding some proof of title thing, or else they'll terminate my account (as obviously they did). Even the Federal Government doesn't send an email demanding a 24-hour turnaround or else without a reminder of a phone call or something. And their emails were extremely arrogant in tone, giving a whiff of "We are a dominating platform so we control your life and do whatever we want" feel. I felt upset at first then I went through reviews of their team and now feel extremely lucky - apparently there are authors earning royalty just have their accounts closed like that, without explanation, and told the outstanding royalty will no longer go to them - that's like theft - glad I got out of this lousy platform at the early stage (kicked out, to be exact)

The financial section of this site is thieving. It either shows all the Bonuses as missing or somehow closes the winnings without paying them.

As an author I think it's atrocious how people can listen to darn near a whole series of your book and then get a refund back after listening. We work too hard on our stuff to keep enduring this. It's bad enough we barely get paid anything to begin with. Authors wages are ridiculous these days with kindle unlimited and with ACX. Then I had one issue with getting paid on time that really took the cake. They need to really change some of their rules and policies-especially concerning returns!

I am a good writer and my company do well and clean job for their customers

Website barely works meaning uploading or completing tax forms is impossible, the contact centre are incredibly rude. Their marketing platform is also useless, everything about ACX is just terrible. Personal advice is to stay clear from them.

I took a public bus from my house to school, it was stressful and tiring with a lot of noise from the bus and arguments. I got to school late and i had to wait outside for the ongoing lesson to be over because i wasn’t allowed inside. Lesson here is don’t always take public buses while trying to meet up with an important appointment you may miss it and it consumes time and energy. If you must take a public bus you have to be more early to as to hop on early bus to get to your destination.

ACX wrote me a check that bounced once I had deposited it at my bank. My bank charged me a bounced check fee on top of it. When I sent ACX a demand letter via Certified Mail at their 1 Washington Park, 16th Floor, Newark, NJ address, the USPS said the business at that location was closed (for good), and there was no forwarding address.

Their feedback is rudimentary and consists mostly of links that they don't really care to clarify. After several submissions they declare that they just don't want to speak to you anymore. I guess they don't need the work.

God this has been hellish working (with? they were rarely there to help) these people. The closest experience I've had to ACX in terms of customer service and functionality was when I flew out of a government-run airport in the developing world. It's taken years for me to get this audio project completed. Good luck getting cover art accepted. And your narrator paid. Things that should be done with one click take months of pain and stress. And customer service barely reads their emails and replies with things that make it clear they don't know what they're doing. At the end of the day, leadership is responsible for this monstrosity. But where else to go? Findaway Voices is an alternative but I can't say whether they would have been any better. Honestly just doing it on your own and putting it on your own website with no producer cut is what I would recommend and I probably will go that route if I ever do this again but ACX has made me not even want to bother as a longtime author.

This company can improve by stopping ripping off it's authors and narrators, and answering questions asked and not sending out the same non-explanatory links time after time after time.

ACX IS HORRIBLE!!! THE END OF 2022 I MADE A ROYALTY SHARE AGREEMENT WITH A NARRATOR (LATER FOUND OUT THIS WAS HIS FIRST TIME NARRATING) THE PRODUCER REACHED OUT TO ME INTERESTED IN NARRATING MY NOVEL. HE SOUNDED GOOD FOR THE AUDITION AND THE FIRST 12 CHAPTERS OF MY NOVEL. THEN AFTER CHAPTER 12 HE MADE A LOT OF MISTAKES FOR THE REMAINING 20 CHAPTERS INCLUDING ERRORS IN DIALOGUE AND HIS VOICE CHANGED INTO BRITISH ACCENTS. (APPARENTLY HE IS SOME YOUNG WANNABE ACTOR BASED IN CHICAGO)

HE LET ME KNOW THAT HE WAS THANKFUL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY AND THAT HE IS ALSO NARRATING ANOTHER AUDIO AT THE SAME TIME HE IS DOING MINE. (RED FLAG)

HE FINISHED THE FIRST AUDIO BOOK AND IT WAS FILLED WITH MISTAKES THAT I ADDRESSED TO HIM. HE SAID THAT THE DUE DATE IS APPROACHING AND HE DOESN'T KNOW IF HE CAN FIX IT IN TIME. I TOLD HIM THAT I CANNOT APPROVE THE AUDIOBOOK IF IT'S NOT COMPLETED ERROR FREE.

I TOLD HIM IF HE CAN'T FIX IT THAN WE HAVE TO TERMINATE THE AGREEMENT BECAUSE THE AUDIOBOOK ISN'T UP TO PAR AND IT SOUNDS TERRIBLE. HE Agreed TO TERMINATE IT. Then 4 HOURS LATER TOLD ME I OWE HIM $1,100 DOLLARS FOR THE ERROR RIDDLED AUDIOBOOK AND I NEED TO WIRE HIM THE MONEY ASAP IF I WANT TO TERMINATE IT.

I TOLD THIS YOUNG MAN THAT WE AGREED TO ROYALTY SHARE AND THAT I OWE HIM NOTHING. He OWES ME A REVISION WHICH IS IN MY RIGHT. HE NEVER RESPONDED TO MY REQUEST AND HAS LEFT THE BOOK ON "WAITING FOR FINISHED AUDIOBOOK" SINCE MARCH 29, 2023

AFTER OUR BACK AND FORTH MESSAGES THE PRODUCER DECIDES TO LEAVE A DISGUSTING REVIEW ON MY BOOK ON AMAZON (I SNAPSHOT THE REVIEW AND MADE A COMPLAINT TO AMAZON AND ACX) HOW IMMATURE IS THAT TO DO WHILE WE STILL HAVE A CONTRACT.

I REACHED OUT TO ACX ABOUT 6 TIMES AND NOT ONLY WERE THEY RUDE BUT ARE NOW CLAIMING THAT THE PRODUCER DID REVISIONS WHICH IS A BOLD FACE LIE. I HAVE PROOF HE DIDNT DO REVISIONS. I AM STILL WAITING FOR THE REVISIONS AND NOW ACX TOLD ME THAT I HAVE TO GET LEGAL COUNCIL LIKE GET A LAWYER IN OTHER WORDS TO RESOLVE THIS WITH THE PRODUCER.

NOW MY AUDIOBOOK HAS BEEN TAKEN HOSTAGE. I HAVE NO REVISIONS AND I CAN'T HAVE AN AUDIOBOOK MADE FOR MY FIRST BOOK IN MY SERIES UNTIL THIS IS RESOLVED WHICH IT WILL NEVER BE RESOLVED. ACX IS RUDE, INCOMPETENT AND THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT AUTHORS.
