David Hopper and the ApplyPass team delivered a level of professional services that I have never seen anywhere else, in any industry. David was there to coach me before every interview with actions to take to prepare as well as after interviews to go over what to learn from them. Having someone in my corner made a huge difference not just in improving my skills but in keeping up morale in what can be a long and grueling task.

I had many years of experience in software development but had taken a multi-year break in academia, getting a Ph.D. and working as a professor for two years. Job search had changed quite a bit since I was last in it. I needed help navigating the new world of interview loops and leetcode.

I found that I had hired a whole team, not just David. This included coaches for leetcode problems and coaches for system design, as well as mutual help with other senior engineers also in the midst of their job searches. ApplyPass provides access to weekly classes in these topics as well as interviewing techniques.

Some more ApplyPass services that I benefited from: rewriting my résumé, rewriting my LinkedIn profile, figuring out how to present my background and the value that I provide, and working out my "stories" for behavioral-interview questions.

ApplyPass made a huge difference, applying to literally thousands of job openings for me. Unlike most engineers I know in job search lately, who have to struggle to get an interview every few weeks, I had my choice of several new interviews a week—so many that I couldn't even do all of them. This enabled me to learn the interview game much faster, especially with David's help. I just started my Applypass journey and so far, it's been stellar. ApplyPass helped me twice, first landing my new grad role after a CS Master's, and again after a layoff in January 2025. Both times, I mostly relied on the interviews it brought in.

I'm a skilled engineer with years of high level experience and I do very well in technical interviews, however it always takes me up to a year to find a new job because the process of applying itself is so mind-numbingly tedious that I give up after just a few applications. Their AI-powered automatic application service allowed get back time that I would otherwise have spent on looking for available jobs, "tailoring" my resume and jumping through company portals in order to get rejected without an interview anyway.

Eventually the persistence of the service paid off and I was able to land an assessment for an engineering role, which I subsequently CRUSHED so COMPLETELY that they skipped the behavioural interview step and went directly to the onboarding process.

Before ApplyPass, I had been job searching for 4 months without landing any interviews.

Then David from ApplyPass helped me rewrite my resume. His advice was very sound, and it inspired me to sign up for ApplyPass Premium 3-months subscription.

With ApplyPass sending out my resumes, I landed my first recruiter call after 140 applications in less than a week. Then I went through 3 rounds of interviews, including my first-ever live coding challenge. While I wasn’t selected by that first company, I gained valuable interview experience.

I then had a few more recruiter screens; one of them resulted in three more interviews, including live coding and my first system design interview. Although I wasn’t chosen, the feedback was positive, especially on the behavioral and system design parts.

Just as I wrapped up my interviews with that company, I got my first interview with a new company. Despite a great experience there, I didn’t hear back immediately.

It would take me 1-2 hours a day just to get through the emails I received in response to the applications and complete any actions: fill out a form, do a test, etc. I noticed that when I stayed up-to-date with these emails, I was getting recruiter screens and some interviews.

Soon, I had another recruiter screen that led to an interview with five people, covering everything from React and JS concepts to live coding. Less than 24 hours later, I received my first offer!

With this offer in hand, I let the company from the on-site interview know about it, and they scheduled a meeting right away. They made me an offer, along with a personalized 90-day onboarding plan. This was the second offer, and the one I ultimately accepted.
