Due to low water levels our Magnificent Europe river cruise itinerary was modified. We were given the option of a full refund or discounts on a future cruise. We decided to continue and are so glad that we did. Our first night was spent in a fabulous hotel in Budapest before embarking on an adventure that involved a couple of coach transfers and cruising on four different ships. Due to the hard work and endless patience of our wonderful cruise director Anja ,(I don’t think she ever slept!), everything ran smoothly and we didn’t miss out on any of the super excursions and experiences. We had four ships for the price of one and they were all perfect. On the couple of days we were not on a ship, we were even given cash to buy lunch! All the staff and entertainers were brilliant. The ‘all inclusive’ benefits applied to all the ships, both APT and TM.
If you are contemplating taking this holiday during the current low water problems your trip probably won’t be exactly as planned (it may be even better!) but please don’t cancel, I think you will love it as much as we did. APT may not be able to control the water levels but they sure can organise a super holiday!

APT are a pleasure to deal with. I had a few issues with a booking and Jon dealt with them sympathetically and efficiently. Promises to resolve and email were kept and dealt with in a timely manner. If only other companies were as easy and pleasant to deal with!

In July we embarked on APT’s 14 day tour of Croatia onboard the luxury yacht Lady Eleganza. This gave us the opportunity to explore some of the major sights along and just inland of the Adriatic coast in comfort. Our cabin on the main deck was well-appointed and had ample storage space, large picture windows equipped with blinds and a compact ensuite. On the upper deck there was a comfortable, restaurant setting with five round tables, a small bar and two spacious, air-conditioned lounges. The sundeck was equipped with sun-loungers fore and aft, a small hot tub and an alfresco dining area. The food and beverages on board were varied and of good quality. The crew were attentive and friendly, and kept the vessel in immaculate condition. The galley and bar staff also did a fantastic job conveying food and beverages up a flight of stairs to the sundeck one evening.

The itinerary comprised leisurely morning cruises with occasional swim stops, guided tours led by locals in the late afternoon when crowds had thinned out and overnight stays in a mixture of small and large ports. The quality of the guided tours varied somewhat, with some guides being more entertaining than others and visits to more distant places such as Kotor and Mostar being interesting, but a bit rushed. Unfortunately, the twisting, narrow streets in some places affected the transmission of their audio. The trip gave us an opportunity to explore diverse coastal and inland landscapes, ancient and modern-day architectural wonders, the nightlife of various ports and see local people going about their daily business at morning markets.

Finally, a special shout out to our tour director Thomas who provided exceptional professional service and our fellow guests who were well-travelled, interesting and very convivial.

The only good thing about this place is its location. The wilderness lodge is in need of a major update, all electricity and hot water is supplied by solar , so tents are dark and the bulbs are not bright enough to illuminate the tent. We experienced the smell of sewage wafting through the tent from the septic tank. Food is a fixed menu with no choice for the evening meal, breakfast cooked items are cooked on the BBQ across from the dining area the bacon was covered with dark grease from the griddle, eggs looked like they had sat on another griddle for some time rather than being cooked fresh, fresh fruit and yogurt were left uncovered for flies to settle on . When we complained staff excused everything "because we are in the outback" other wilderness lodges we stayed in , in the outback, did not have these problems. I can honestly say this lodge does not justify the price you pay to stay here .

River cruise, 15 day Magnificent Europe Budapest to Amsterdam.
The whole experience was perfect from start to finish. 2nd holiday with APT and all expectations were met: booking process, travel, ship and accomodation, staff/service, food choices and quality, Signature Experiences and included trips. Our Cruise director was amazing in every way and both she and APT office staff handled the itinerary changes calmy and efficiently. Thank you, we will be travelling with APT again.

We booked the holiday directly with the APT office who then kept us informed along the way and were always happy to answer any queries regarding the holiday. Throughout the holiday, we felt extremely well looked after with guidance both on the ship and on our excursions. The cruise director and all the staff were professional, friendly and always welcoming. The food was of an extremely high standard as was the service with a wide range of choices at each meal. The very knowledgeable excursion guides stayed with us during the week so it was good to get to know them too. One of our trips included a lunch in the wine cellar of a winery which was an amazing experience and one evening we were taken out for a performance in a beautiful building and given canapés and cocktails afterwards. We could not have asked for anything more from this holiday. This is our fourth time with APT/ Travelmarvel and we have always found them very good and have readily recommended them to our friends but the staff and service on this cruise was exceptional.

The tour of Salamanca was a disaster. We had told the tour guide we were slow walkers, but she went off like a rocket, by the time we had crossed the road from the bus and climbed the incline to the city centre, she and the rest of the party had disappeared. We had her phone number so were able to contact her but by the time she found us we missed out on most of the tour. It's a shame because once we embarked on the ship the rest of the cruise was flawless and wonderful.

I could not fault my experience on board your ship. The food was very good, the service was first class. My cabin was clean, spacious and the excursions were very good.

Excellent ship, staff and crew. delicious food with plenty of choice. Well planned programme of trips - first class venues. Likeminded guests. A wonderful holiday.

Lovely trip, great food, staff attentive, good excursions, only criticism was the two ship moves because of the low river levels (not anyones fault) but I had no idea/instruction that this might happen.

Very happy with all contact with Grace at APT Travelmarvel. Waiting with expectation for our trip next year and hoping it goes just as well.

From the moment we landed at the airport to the moment we went through security coming home, we were looked after. All the people on board were so friendly and helpful, staff and passengers. The coach trips were good, and the guides so knowledgeable. Would recommend this company to anyone. We have been on a cruise with them twice, and will use them again.

No little shop on board with things you may forget!!

No small bottles of water available - other river cruise companies have them to give out on coaches.

Otherwise had a great trip - which included changing boats twice due to water level.

We cannot find any fault whatsoever with APT.
If there was any issue it was dealt with immediately.
Even though we had to change ships twice because of the lack of water in the Rhine, they made it effortless for us.
The quality of the food was excellent, the excursions interesting and the signature experiences were outstanding.
