Booktopia claimed to have my order available for 3 - 5 day delivery on 22 May 26. Part arrived on 8 June. The rest was delayed til 22 July 26. I've now received another notification that there is a further delay & the rest of my order is now not due to arrive til 5 to 7 August 2026. I suspect the 8 year old intended recipient will be in University by the time it actually arrives.
Extremely poor service.

I’ve been supporting Booktopia because I thought they were an Australian bookseller. They don’t have the books apparently You buy a book they don’t have but rely on a third party to supply it.
They’ve just had my money for 2 weeks but can’t get the book. It will take 3 days to get a refund they say. Never again.

Excellent experience

Packaging not adequate as both of my books covers were damaged, not happy, I'm awaiting 2 more books, I hope they arrive in better condition, if not I won't be using Booktopia again, a lot of money spent for damaged goods, thanks

I've ordered from Booktopia several times over the years. Last year I ordered a book and after 15 days it hadn't been posted. I contacted them and with that prompt from me the book was shipped. My most recent order I contacted them after 14 days as it had not progressed in any way. I was told it would be shipped. I waited another week and checked to find it had not been shipped. I contacted them and received no reply until I sent a follow up email in which I told them I would be taking the matter up with external agencies. I was again told it would be shipped. I'm still waiting. The shipping cost $9.99. I would rather not use Amazon but I will be looking for another alternative as Booktopia is wholly unreliable. It has now been over one month since i placed my order and after again checking there has still been no progress. This company is deeply unreliable and i would be amazed if it survives much longer. Don't order from them. Expensive, unreliable delivery, unreliable customer service. This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to write a negative review of a company but feel people need to be warned.

Ordering textbooks from Booktopia is an issue. Often the textbooks have 'in stock, shipped the next day', yet this is not the case. Do not order textbooks from Booktopia, unless you have a flexible timeline.

Booktopia provides a great variety of excellent quality books at reasonable prices. Transactions are easy and delivery is prompt. The items are delivered in strong, secure protective packaging and communication on the delivery progress is very good.

Do not buy from Booktopia. I thought I bought the right book but it wasn’t correct and they do not swap or refund/return. Now I’m stuck with a $50 book I don’t want and the book I needed was meant to be for a 6year old’s birthday

I ordered a book online, and it says it will be shipped the next day. But once I made the order, they had to ship it from the supplier. After over 2 weeks, I am still waiting. I tried to do a live chat, but the employee said it will get shipped. Yet I am still waiting

The book arrived promptly and in “as new” condition. I love Philip Carlo and I’m enjoying yet another of his great works. Thanks very much

I placed an order for the piano book on 20.05. After almost four weeks, I still had not received my order. I sent several messages to follow up, but unfortunately no one responded to my emails or phone calls.

Today the order finally arrived, however the overall experience has been very disappointing. My son was unable to properly practice for his piano classes for half the term due to not having the piano book,

I was eventually only able to get a response through the chat system, as there was no reply via phone or email.

Based on this experience, I will not be purchasing from them again. It was a waste of both time and money.

Ordering a gift voucher through Booktopia was even easier than I ever imagined

In the last year I have pre ordered 3 books at different times, each book has never been shipped out or processed on the release date, the last two pre orders I had to cancel as the estimated delivery from pre order date was over a week later, was easier to just get at the book shops.

No communication.No reply to emails.tracking gives no information. Bot sends you to another bot that doesn’t reply. No contact number.

My last order was for two books; one of them was quite expensive at about $100. Only the cheaper one was delivered. I have tried to contact them several times but their customer service is non-existent.
After my posting this review Booktopia replied that the second book had been held up because it had needed to be printed first, but that it had finally arrived and would be sent if I still wanted. It should arrive within a day. I have consequently revised my rating from one to three stars. I do not recall the Booktopia website mentioning that the book had to be printed by a third party first: it is something for prospective buyers to ask about, so that they are prepared for a delayed delivery.

I ordered three books in the same order on May 26th, but have only received one. The estimated delivery time on the website was June 2-4, 2026, for the remaining books.
I received one (the cheapest) book on May 28th. Since then I have heard nothing about the other two books.
I sent an email to Customer Support on June 3, as there was no tracking number or information for the remaining two books. I have received no reply from Customer Support, or even acknowledgement of my email.
It seems like Booktopia has taken my money for 3 books and only wants to send me 1 of them.
Pretty disappointing and frustrating, as I also need the books for my work asap.
Not ordering from Booktopia again.

you will never receive your books. You can send in enquiries and never get a reply your order is always stuck in order confirmed or processing. Been 3 weeks since my order and no updates, no we have placed your items on order nothing. I've sent an email for cancellation for this order and to receive a full refund, im not expecting to get my money back.

About 4 years ago some family members have had these same problems with this shop. Don't waste your money

One of the worst experiences I've ever had dealing with an online retailer. Customer service is terrible - rude and dismissive. I won't be shopping there ever again, and neither should you.

Book arrived in perfect condition, the tracking was quick to work and the customer service was really helpful with past orders.
