The best supplier of eggs and pupae i have found. I don't understand the bad reviews, this is not a production line. Moths and butterflies are fickle creatures. Sometimes we have to wait. Great selection and always great quality. Thanks again.

Very poor experience. I ordered butterfly eggs on 7 May for use in science teaching and was left under the impression that dispatch would be reasonably prompt. I received no product by the time it was needed and only received a customs notification on 12 June, over five weeks later.

The most disappointing part was not even the delay itself, but the response when I raised the issue. I was told that the delay and international risk were “clearly stated”, despite not seeing anything that suggested such a lengthy wait before ordering. I was then refused any refund or compensation.

If you are ordering for a time-sensitive purpose, particularly from within or outside the UK, I would be very cautious and would strongly advise finding an alternative supplier.

I love being able to help our native moths and butterflies and watching them grow from egg to adult is a wonderful way to do it.

We have had such a great experience ordering from Bugs and Butterflies UK, I would highly recommend them. The information on their site meant that we could get the set up just right before the eggs arrived. The care guide was clear and easy to refer back to once they hatched so now we have lots of voracious woolly bears getting plump and ready to up the numbers of an endangered species in the UK. Their customer service is exceptional, even checking in that everything was going well with our brood. They were prompt and very knowledgeable when I asked questions. It's been an amazingly fun and rewarding experience for the whole family, we can't wait to do it again.

I've ordered from worldwide butterflies and bug and butterflies.
I've sent emails requesting an update on my orders and received nothing from either businesses.
Have opened an account now with both, still nothing.
Not what I expected, very bad business practice. Next port of call will be my credit card company to get a refund and make an official complaint.

I was really excited to try this company as they offered a variety of butterflies, so as a school project for nursery kids it would have been a winner. I paid for 48 hour delivery- I think it was, so I was shocked when after 3 weeks the caterpillars still hadn't arrived. I then sent an email after rechecking the website. It did say that
'Availability times are estimates, to the highest possible accuracy, but are still subject to external conditions such as weather which cannot always be mitigated for, e.g. a particularly cold or wet spring would delay the breeding of most butterflies'
and the estimated delivery would be spring/summer26.
So I asked for an estimated time of arrival as I had planned this for our second spring term- they could not give me one, so I asked for a refund. The answer was a no- credit note only, so I sucked it up and said that I would still have the order.
Now I did recently get an email of which I was again excited ( for me and the nursery children that said my order would be dispatched, this was from Royal mail- 48 hour delivery... this was 12 days ago and they are still waiting for the package!!) as too am I!!
Noted I didn't read the information on delivery either- which may have swayed me, but I am an optimist and was thinking along the turn around of 'INSECTLORE'.
it did state-'Note that delivery times refer to the time taken from dispatch to delivery, not from ordering to delivery. Please do not expect your order to arrive the day after ordering.

In the UK, most packages arrive the day after dispatch; EU orders tend to arrive in a week or less;'
Again I have emailed enquiring about my new arrivals I have heard nothing...
I think that they need to be more transparent on their website, and honest with customers. Luckily for my lovely nursery children we had also ordered a failsafe INSECTLORE, of which I would highly recommend people using instead.
If I have not heard back from them soon, I shall have to enquire about getting a refund by other means.
*Note the date of experience and this is now 13 June, that's 2 months folks, and still no joy!

Oh I'm still waiting for my 10 stick insects, I literally forgot I ordered them.......I wonder if my 10 stick insects have gone back packing to a foreign country, or maybes they are hitching a lift down to me ?????

I've had nothing but positive experiences, any email I have sent has been responded to quickly and if there's been any delays, an apology and understandable explanation was given. They have happily fielded my questions as a newcomer to the hobby, which really, is entirely on me or anyone else looking to be responsible for living creatures, so this was additionally helpful and appreciated. The reviews that complain about no instructions is actually embarrassing, why are you buying these animals if you need the most basic things explained to you?! Be prepared and aware of whatever species you are taking into your care. Be that a horse, dog or a moth. The species I have already had emerge were a pure delight and I intend to get more whenever possible. Thanks again for such a pleasant experience! It is very hit or miss in this hobby and you can tell they actually care 👌🏻

From the first contact looking at the webpage it was easy to navigate with clear instruction and wonderful images, to putting my order in with out any issues at all. Fabulous communication throughout, delivery quick and updates regularly on ETA. Good packaging and instructions on care. After care Emails were informative and very friendly would highly recommend.

Ordered moths that werent available by accident, when they were available they shipped them to me immediately and i hatched two lovely moths

The service has improved significantly since a year ago. Nowadays their response time is quick and helpful, and the follow up contact is good too. If this continues moving forward, I will be able to change this to 5 stars!

Ignore the negative reviews its down to not reading the information about fulfilment and delivery

They were packaged fantastically non were damaged and the communication I recieved from the company when I had questions or enquiries were fantastic.

I recommend purchasing from them and I will be purchasing again in the future im just unsure what to get ha

My order was processed swiftly and I received the moth eggs within five days. They have started hatching and the team followed up with me to check how things were going, they also provided great advice on how to feed and otherwise care for my caterpillars. I would recommend the site. They’re a brilliant UK based small business who are offering a niche service.

When royal mail failed to deliver as expected offered a replacement should my hatch rate be low luckily I had a high hatch rate . And with second eggs again good yield

Received our pupae quickly and one has emerged beautifully already within the week. The others are changing colour now and looking forward to seeing them all. Will definitely order from here again.

A great experience using this company for the first time. Ordered Alpine Newt Eggs and they arrived within 72hrs. Really good hatch rate and the larvae are thriving.

So upsetting I was scammed by this company DO NOT order anything. I have reported this to trading standards, please do the same if you have been scammed.

Despite having a thicket of Buddleias we did not have many butterflies, so ordered some from this company.Very happy. We have had eggs and pupae.The eggs went in the fridge until they started to hatch and the pupae are in a butterfly cage 'up the garden'in a sheltered spot.The caterpillars are chomping away at the nettles and doing a grand job.Will definitely be getting more.
