⭐ 1 Star – Horrible Customer Service and a Frustrating Experience

My experience with Car Buyer USA was extremely frustrating. I brought in my 2014 Audi S5 for an inspection and received an offer of $2,500. After reconsidering the transaction, I decided I no longer wanted to proceed.

Instead of handling the situation professionally, I was told I would have to pay a $500 fee because I had signed or initialed paperwork. I was also told that I needed to send the payment through Zelle before receiving a receipt and release.

I felt pressured and uncomfortable with how the situation was handled. The communication and customer service left a very bad impression, and the entire experience became much more stressful than it needed to be.

I would strongly encourage anyone considering selling their vehicle here to read every document carefully, ask questions about cancellation fees before signing anything, and get all terms in writing.

Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend this company.

Do not under any circumstances sell your car to these guys. They will make an offer on your car that they absolutely can not fulfill. They take your car to an auction center to see how much they can get for it and will adjust the offer after they've already taken it. Trying to get your car back is a nightmare. They offered me 20% less than their original offer when they couldn't sell to super fast for a profit. I wrote this as review as I was sitting at the junk yard trying to retrieve the car. They are super responsive when trying to get your car, but once you reject their lowball offer they become incredibly hard to get a hold of.

I also was told that the car was showing up on Carfax as having sold at auction the day before I tried to pick it up. The fact that they had it listed at auction before ever coming to an agreement with me is infuriating. Then they had the gall to try to flip the script back on me for trying to be an unreasonable seller and trying to extort their business. These guys do not deserve to be in business.

Do yourself a favor and just take the car to Carmax, auto nation, or even your local dealership and you'll have a better experience than working with these guys.

The owner is claiming I am trying to extort cash in order to not leave a bad review. That is totally false. I asked for a $500 payment as their offer was made in bad faith and the offers I had received from other dealerships had decreased by that amount while they jerked me around. A BBB review is absolutely warranted here as they are operating an incredibly shady business with unethical business practices.

Horrible, like many others have said. They give you a great offer, then nickle and dime after the inspection. Ended up selling my car to carvana for almost $3k more than what they offered after the inspection. Don’t waste your time

I just want to say that they said my car was worth up to $13.50, so I drove to their location which was an hour and a half away, left my car for their inspection and two days later said they could only give me $500 the car was running driving ice cold AC and only had a oil leak, and a broken window only 126,000 MI perfect running and driving car other than the two problems listed I did not want to take Uber back to their place of business so I took the 500 did not read the fine print they charge me $199 and title fees or so they say when I call them back they never would answer any text messages, never answered any emails, and never answered any voice messages they are liars and scammers and get away with it I would not recommend this place to anyone if you have read this far do not do business with this company or you will regret it also please reread and be advised just don't do business with this company

Should have checked here first before doing business with them. Same awful experience as most. They pull you in with a high online quote, then lowball you after inspection, icing on the cake was the $200 title transfer fee they slipped onto the contract and never discussed with me. Avoid this company.

The guys make a killing off of people who don’t know any better or don’t have the ability to stand up for themselves. They hope that they can get away with telling you what’s wrong with your vehicle, rather than you knowing what’s actually wrong. They give you a great initial offer to get you pulled in. Then they have you do an inspection where they will basically just look for problems whether they’re a problem or not. I’ve never seen more of a joke of an inspection though. And then I had to argue with some kid on the phone who was probably 19 and didn’t have a bone in his body that knew anything about diesels or what they’re worth. I couldn’t get a release form for my vehicle fast enough. As annoyed as I was that I had my time wasted, I’m also glad I got to waste their time. I hope they had to pay for that bullshit inspection. They called. Custom paint job “damage” to each quarter panel. Damage…. It’s not damage just because you’ll have to find a specific buyer for something custom. That’s your job…. To sell cars. I’m not going to take a hit because you suck at selling cars. They called a mounted rollout bolted to the bed frame “frame damage” 😂😂 like you can’t make this up. Absolute F’N joke of a company. Like I said, they stay in business by screwing over people who don’t know any better. So if you don’t know much about your car, find someone you can trust because it’s not these people. I’d be shocked to see a real review of someone saying they got a good deal out of these guys. If you’re getting rid of a junker… this might be the place to go because you’re not looking at much money anyways. If you’re selling something with more than 10-20k value, just do a private sale. This is not a scam, but it’s damn near close with the way they try and get you to let go of your vehicle for next to nothing so they can sell it for probably more than the original offer they gave you. Also, there’s two Brian’s that work for this company. One is older. One is younger. Older Brian is great. Solid guy. Younger Brian….. absolute DB. Kid doesn’t know his ass from his elbow. Lot of growing up to do.

OK, so they offered 7600 online, took the car in, offer dropped to 1900. After some back a forth went to eventually 5K. Then got paid, 4801. They deducted an inspection fee.
I'll never sell to them again.

All this reviews are correct I mean 1 star reviews , they offered me $7200 for my van and after inspection they offered $2900 my van is like brand new it’s cargo van ? They are liers you will be wasting your time , if you wanna give car to this liers free then this is dealer for you otherwise stay away

If I could give them zero stars I would. They really practice a bait and switch. They make an offer and then have u drop it off and after they do a condition report reduce their offer after the car is dropped off at the intake facility they use and then charge a dealer charge of $199 of your settlement without telling you. Run ! Don’t do business with this shady company ! They will hang up the phone on you ! They should be ashamed of themselves !

I dont like the shady buying tactic. Offer a price. Have the car taken with the keys. Have an inspection done designed simply to create a high repair bill, so you can low ball the owner. If the owner doesn't agree, there is a $500 charge to get the car back. The whole thing was shady AF.

Zero Star - Classic Bait and Switch
I was quoted $14,400 for my car by both Carvana and CarMax. CarBuyerUSA sweetened the deal with $16,200—almost $2K more—and I thought, why not? Big mistake. They insisted on me dropping it off at their Manheim, NJ auction site (red flag #1). I drove there, handed over the keys, and waited a day for their "inspection."

Boom—suddenly it's "only worth $9,800" after they nitpicked a bunch of issues I already disclosed upfront. $6K less? No way. I said return it, but getting my own car back turned into a nightmare. The place is a massive labyrinth of enclosures and parking lots—you're walking forever just to find it. And their reimbursement? A measly $50 max for Uber. It covered only partial fare and I shelled out way more for the hassle and Ubering home.

Wasted 3 full hours, plus the drive back to Carvana where—surprise—they honored the original $14,400 quote without drama. CarBuyerUSA is straight-up scammers: they lowball you hard once you're hooked, all sweet talk until the keys are in their hands. BS ratings, fake issues—avoid like the plague! Go with Carvana or CarMax or anyone else honest. AVOID them at all costs!

This company employs bait-and-switch tactics. Initially, I received an instant cash offer of 50k which was $1k higher than my other offer. I uploaded all the required photos of my car, along with my driver's license and title, and delivered the vehicle to the local Manheim location for inspection. After the inspection, they reduced the offer to 33k from the original offer amount. Additionally, they posted my car on OVE auction site for sale $55k with know problems listed from the inspection report for 3 days. Once I notify them why my car was on the auction site and I wasn’t paid yet, no response. I called and told them to give me a release form so I can pickup my car, that took another 2 days to get. I pickup my car and took it to Carvana I received 49k, 1k less for my car. I also took my car to my shop for an inspection and they found no issues with my car. I wish I can give them 0 stars, don't use them.

They stole my car!!! I took it to be appraised after they told me it was theirs now they had possession of it and it was gated and I couldn’t get to it!! So besides the threats they lied about the value of in perfect condition 2010 650 V8 and only 70,000 miles no accidents etc. So you tell me is $701 a good price besides not letting me have my car back when I wanted it back in the beginning!!!! Which part is the worse?? The thing is terrible and criminal and I know I’m not the only one who has been through this with them!! Can you say class action suit!!’

Other online users had said that this company offers much higher prices than others, but then cites several issues with your car upon inspection and reduces the offer significantly. My experience was exactly the same. They initially offered me a price $3000 higher than other car buying services, but then during the inspection, cited issues such as normal wear and tear one should expect from a used car, and then lowered their offer by 33%, much lower than other offers I received.

This company is bad. They contact you, they tell you what they will offer you. You agreed to their offer and you never hear back from them. They're a joke. Move on, go somewhere else. They do nothing but lie, very bad company.

Some guy will text you. Also they DO NOT come to you. That is BS.. They want to go to some auction house 45 miles away..

Liars and scammers they quote a price then lower it by hundreds of dollars when you take it to them, after promising the quote wouldn't change, then when you tell them you want your vehicle back you have to wait till they are good and ready to give it to you do kit recommend avoid at all cost

This company agreed to pay me $630 — which was already a ridiculously low offer — but then sent a written quote for $550, with a hidden $125 fee that would’ve brought the total to just $425. When I pointed that out, the agent kept insisting it was $450, ignoring both the math and their own documents. They also gave me conflicting instructions to delay the pickup and avoided all responsibility. When I asked fair questions, they responded with attitude, rudeness, and blame-shifting. This was not just bad service — it was calculated and unethical. Avoid at all costs.

I was offered a good price for my car. I drove at 80 miles to their facility and waited a day for them to inspect it. They called me back with a counter offer of less than a quarter of the original offer. Which was about 3000 under value. When I told them I would just go pick my car up that I would not sell it for that. It was almost impossible to get the voucher to go pick it up. I had to finally call the main office to get any satisfaction. I do not recommend at all! Run!
