Never answers the phone when you call
Took my car to their facility for inspection. Was given offered a lot less then what I originally was offered. Trying to contact them is very hard no one answers the phone and they take their time to call back. Finally settled on a price a third of what they offered with the promise that I would be paid right away. Did not want to sign the title and they had possession of the vehicle without getting paid. I was assured that when they received the title they would deposit the money in my account since we were under contract. How they have such a good rating on BBB. Blah blah blah. Horrible experience so far.
I sure wish there was a rating of “0”…
I sure wish there was a rating of “0” stars ! This was the worst experience ever with a vehicle transaction! I even had a locked in offer and they still lowballed me and they have you do endless requests then ghost you when you aren’t happy! Now I need to go all the way across town and pick the car back up! There’s a possibility I’ll have to pay for the storage and inspection from the auction company I dropped it off at upon their request. I repeat do not use this company DO NOT! Sell on your own via marketplace or Craigslist! Just be very open and honest and print off a bill of sale from your state!!
Unpleasant and a Waste of Time
After requesting endless information, they came back with an offer so low I had to laugh. Even dealers offer more. This was a waste of time. I should've stopped sooner, but the rep was very accommodating, it seemed. I pushed back on things like signing the title over to them if we made a deal, and then they would send me a check. I don't believe they would have pulled anything, but it was an odd request.
Have my title held hostage
Have my title held hostage. Will not call back or respond.
What a joke of a company!!!!!
I will call an attorney!
The website was easy to navigate and I…
The website was easy to navigate and I did get an instant offer. The next day they called to tell me that they are no longer going offering that and dropped it down about $1200. I do not recommend.
Complete rip-off
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH CARBUYERSUSA!!!
Like many reviews stated, the Company baits-and-switches with prices then refuses to negotiate even on THEIR mistake.
They "mistakenly" quoted us $13,167 (a little above $2000) after I told them the car had sludge in the engine. After I came back saying we would accept that price they told us they made a mistake and could only offer us $3000.
The car was being held at a dealership with the engine issues. They took so long to respond about this misquote that the dealership had started charging us $50/day. I asked them to pay the $600 in fees, and they took days to respond saying "no." After telling them that was ridiculous since this happened due to THEIR mistake, they told me they could pay the fees and the car was getting picked up.
After a week of 0 communication I called back and they had never picked up the car and they lowered the quote to $2000. (If you are keeping track that is now $11,000 under initial quote). After some angry discussions they agreed to give us $2000 and they would pay the fees.
Half a week later I got a call stating the vehicle was inspected, they offered us $2000 and are taking the $900 in fees out and only giving us $1,100. We managed to get them to give us the full $2000 eventually but this process took nearly a month and the company is flippant with their estimates to get you locked in then lower their quotes.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH CARBUYERSUSA!!!
Misled me with their initial offer
I received an online offer of about $18,500 from Car Buyer USA for my vehicle. After visiting a couple of car dealers and getting cash offers from various sites like CarMax and Cars.com, Car Buyer USA’s offer was the highest I received. I discussed this offer over the phone with a Car Buyer USA customer service rep, and after I described the minor issues with the car (small scratches, paint chips, and a crack in the windshield) and provided pictures of the car, he assured me that I would receive an offer very close to $18,500 after their inspection.
For the inspection, I had to drop off the car at an auto auction lot, which was somewhat disconcerting, and remove its license plates. This means I had to pay for an Uber back to my house.
One day later, Car Buyer USA provided me with a report listing about $500 worth of repairable damage to the car. They used this report to justify dropping their offer by about $1,200 to $17,300. This didn’t make any sense to me. They offered to increase their offer to $17,500, but this still put it below the next highest offer I received. As a result, I had to decline Car Buyer USA’s offer and pay for another Uber back to the auto auction lot to pick up my car. Car Buyer USA stated that they would reimburse me for the first Uber trip, but I’m not sure that they actually will.
Overall, I wasted about 2.5 hours of my time and about $50 on Uber rides, because Car Buyer USA misled me with their initial offer. If they had initially given me something closer to their final offer, I could have avoided all of this. If you receive an online offer from Car Buyer USA, just be aware that the number may be inflated to lure you in.
I can’t say that my experience was entirely negative. Car Buyer USA’s final offer was higher than the vast majority of other offers I received, and their communication was good overall. But their scheme of artificially inflating their initial offer to lure me in just left a bad taste in my mouth, so I can’t recommend them.
bait-and-switch
This company employs bait-and-switch tactics. Initially, I received an instant cash offer above the Kelley Blue Book (KBB) value. I uploaded all the required photos of my car, along with my driver's license and title, and delivered the vehicle to the local Manheim location for inspection. After the inspection, they reduced the offer to half of the original amount. Additionally, they never reimbursed my Uber expenses, despite their promise to do so.
They will promise you one price then take it back last minute
They will promise you one price, run you around, and try to get you invested as much as possible then at the last minute cut their offer in half. also the sales guy was super rude and get an attitude as soon as you say anything about it
Car Buyer USA, The Best
Everyone at Car Buyer USA, was knowledgeable and courteous.
The price received after inspection was
very reasonable. I would highly recommend Car Buyer USA to anyone who is thinking about selling their car. Choose
Car Buyer USA.
Scam! Scam! Scam!
Do not waste your time. After receiving a $34,500 offer they came out and did an inspection and offered me less than 30,000. The truck is like new with only 18,000 miles on it. They told me that it had undercarriage rust. They then tried to get me to send them a copy of my Carmax offer to try to beat it. This company is a scam and will offer you more for your vehicle upfront, then do the inspection and lowball you.
Guess what? Final offer lower than initial offer
They called me to make an offer on my 2009 Honda accord. Their offer was higher then carmax, autonation and carvana. They asked me to send many pictures and confirmed their offer as long as no problems were found by their inspector. They scheduled their 3rd party inspector to come to my house to view the car. The inspector gave the car a great review (low milage, always been garaged, top notch interior and exterior condition). After the inspection they called to lower their offer. They (Brian) said the inspection went very well but based on resale "market conditions" they had to lower their offer by $750 from their initial confirmed offer of $9500. In short, it appears that they hook you with an overly high offer and then reduce what they are willing to pay once they check to see how much they can resell it for (all with in a 2-3 day period.) Do yourself a favor and check all the more legitimate companies including autonation, carvana. Check out the many many reviews with similar or worse stories.
Just Sell Private
Hello all,
I wanted to express my disappointment with the experience overall at Car Buyer USA. The inspector was wrong to label the body of the car “moderately damaged”. The dings and chips were over exaggerated and would have cost around $100 to fix them. I have the paint to match, for those things, which is EXACTLY what these guys will use. They said I had stains on the seat. Had the inspector taken the time to apply a damp towel, it would have come out. These “stains’ are from when I drove to and from Arizona. Dust and sweat is all it was. That would have cost me $125 for a deep interior clean, or a bottle of Dawn soap and water. It was my fault to not have cleaned it first but your inspector said it is preferred to leave it how it is. This is to not appear like you’re trying to hide something. The skid plate was damaged and I did not know about. My daughter (primary driver) confessed to driving it when it came off and not telling me. One of her friends used zip ties to put it back on. That would have cost me about $300-$500 to fix. These guys dinged me $1170 from the original quote. I was open about the driver and passenger doors being nicked. I had many people look at this car and all of them pointed out the seats and a few nicks but they knew, those issues were nothing to worry about. Now, if I had sold it to one of them and they noticed the skid plate issue. I would have gladly paid for it. I still would have made more than what they gave me. Its a 2018 used car. Most of the exterior damage, which was very little, is from wear and tear. In there initial online evaluation you say normal “wear and tear” does not need to be listed. Why are they dinging me for it then? I sent pictures of every angle, did not leave out what I considered damaged. Still screwed me. I only sold to them because I did not want to sell as is, so I would have had to replace the skid plate and I was not up for it.
I had no problem with knocking off $600-700, because I honestly did not know about the skid plate. I had to plead with them to get from $16,500 to $16,600. There was no reason to take as much off, as they did. Then, to make things even worse. I did not get a call from anyone until 6pm 4 days later. At that point, they said they would be arriving between 8-9pm. Why so late? Anyways, I was okay because I just wanted the process over. Around 6pm, I get a text saying they would be delayed until 9-10pm. He got here close to 10pm, if not at 10pm. I asked to delay until the next day because who the hell wants to deal with all this at 10pm. He said “I have to be in GA tomorrow, please let me come tonite.” What in the hell am I supposed to say? No?
There I was standing in the rain at 10pm, waiting for him to take all of his pictures. He was done around 11pm. I left to go back in my house about 20 min before he left. He was very polite and apologetic, I will say that. Also, I got paid a day before they picked up the car, which was nice.
Horrible customer service
I guy named Juan called me, He was disrespectful and rude. They wanted to take my car to inspect it in their installations and pay me two days later. I don't recommend them
SCAM AND FRAUDULENT BUSINESS
SCAM AND FRAUDULENT BUSINESS
FBI INVESTIGATION
THEY STOLE MY BANKING INFORMATION AND TITLE
I was told numerous times that the price wouldn’t change but they lied and offered me $10,000 less
I was told numerous times that they give me $25,000 for my 2017 Honda CRV with very low miles at 53,000 miles. The offer is not going to change Myles kept saying we don’t do business that way. But of course it changed. No longer can I speak to Myles. He won’t call me, I text no answer back. it changed of course to $12,000 then $15,000.
Beware - Dishonest Fraudulent Tactics
Beware, Eddie Richard lied from me the moment that I called CBUSA. He offered me $56,300 for my 2022 RAV4 Prime pending inspection. Eddie clarified the only way that price would drop was if they found damage to the vehicle, or there was a title issue. The car is 3 weeks old with 1400 miles. Their inspection came back immaculate and the car has a clean title in hand. When the funding manager Hal Ross called me, he said CBUSA would only be able to pay me $54,000 for my car. His reason: Eddie Richard lied about the number and was "never authorized" to change the value of my car. Eddie Richard lied numerous times to me on the phone and assured me that the multiple BBB reviews stating these same bait and switch tactics were fake and that it was only from customers who lied about their cars condition. The owner and CEO Bill Coleman wrote two blanket statement replies to my BBB complaint about how they try to maximize value for their clients, but never addressed the fake offer they baited me in with or acknowledged me at all. Stay clear from these dishonest, fraudulent staff members and company - CBUSA.
Their site sucks
Their site sucks. You put in the info, it says to wait 20 seconds, 5 minutes later, still nothing. It doesn't say it's working on it, you hit contact and it causes all your info you filled in to drop off
Like others experience this is a total…
Like others experience this is a total bait and switch. Dropped offer over 4K after great inspection. Said things like they will need to replace the tires (less than 20K on them, Car has minor scratches, etc.. Yeah there are a few small blemishes as most cars with 57K would have, but interior is perfect. Unless you are trading in a Tesla or another high demand vehicle, I wouldn't waste your time. The experience felt just like being at an old school dealer. Defeats the whole purpose of the "Online Experience"
Scam, Bait and Switch
Scam! Bait and Switch...CarBuyerUSA made me an offer for my newer Truck (only has 233 miles). They sent out an inspector, who stated the vehicle was flawless, basically a new vehicle. Then I received a call from the buying manager/funding team and they offered me $5,800 less that the original offer. When I questioned why and asked about the inspection I was told the inspection was all positive but that based on market condition he would not change the now lower offer. This all transpired over a 24 hour period, the original higher offer was only used to start the discussion and agree to let someone come inspect the vehicle, then they commenced to try to beat me down on a lower price.
