BEWARE OF CARLY SCAN TOOL SCAM FOR YOUR VEHICLE

If you purchase the scan tool from their website like I did, you select what appears to be the scan tool with choice of basic scan or a premium scanner.
I paid about $150 for the premium version, received it in the mail and its been sitting on my desk waiting for an engine light for over a year.
Fast forward the following year later they charged my PayPal/bank acct an additional $180 without any notice!

Upon complaint, they claim its a subscription and they are not required by law to send out any invoices or reminders (at all), and they claim its in obvious print on their check out, while its clearly not. But I went back and found it in the fine print on the very last step before you pay. Which is sneaky as fk.

Neither my bank or PayPal could help.

This company actively steal from you. Auto renewal of subscription, £100. was taken from my account without my permission. I got in contact with them only to be told they do not do refunds. Do not buy from This greedy, unhelpful company.

Scam! This product does not work and is junk, plus the only care about you buying the product and then let you know there are no refunds!

I would give this company a lower rating than one but it’s not an option.

Purchased the tool a year ago for $111 which I thought was fair for a obd2 scanner tool. My daughter took it and hasn’t even really used it this whole time. 1 year later I get a renewal for $134 from my checking account. I contacted them Carly that very day and explained that I was not using it and did not want there services. They advised that they are a German company and I am bound by German law. That per agreement, I had to cancel one month prior the renewal and the prices are clearly marked on their website.

This is infuriating as they are selling on American soil. So you must follow our consumer laws. It requires that they notify you in advance before a renewal fee. Luckily, I purchased through PayPal and it’s in dispute. Why on earth would I pay an additional $134 for just your service when I can buy the service and tool for $111 off their website.

Totally got scammed on this one! PayPal will make it right though.

Their website is very unclear that you are actually signing up to a subscription that auto-renews, not just buying a product for a one off fee. There are zero notifications before they debit your card for nearly £100 a year later. You have to contact support to cancel the auto renewal, but they will not refund the second subscription payment. The fact it’s harder to cancel than sign-up, and there is no notification of the upcoming renewal, is in breach of EU law.

The app is slow and unstable and looks like a school child designed it.

The only thing the app/scanner could reprogram on my car were the electrically adjusted seats, which my car isn’t even fitted with. This is despite their website listing 20+ customisations that were supported for my car.

Save yourself the money and the hassle of a charge-back on your card and steer well clear of this company.

Carly I hope you read this. Do the world a favour and shut down. Imagine being employed by a company whose business model relies on deception of their customers.

Absolutely shocking product. Will not connect to any car then they auto renew your second year, watch out guys I’m over £200 out of pocket and they will not return money .

Before Carly respond, no doubt this company will try to defend with more deceit, but the fact that so many consumer reviews say the same thing about being mislead, scammed and conned in to a hidden subscription says it all.

Purchased the Carly OBD last year thinking it was a single purchase item BUT it is actually an annual subscription. They seem to hide that fact in the small print, preying on consumer tendancies through the design of their website and communication. A year later, PayPal messaged me to say £122 had been taken from my account. I received no prior notice. On the day of renewal, I messaged Carly to to cancel the subscription explaining the situation, thinking that would be normal and acceptable, to which they replied with a load of gobbledygook about German consumer law and small print hidden in their t&cs, and needing to cancel within a month of renewal. Rather than being transparent with their costs, they deliberately use dark practices to mask the extortionate cost, knowingly taking advantage of consumers tendencies and innocent oversight. They did not provide a refund. ABSOLUTE LIBERTY

I have since seen in reviews that this is a recurring theme, of people complaining about money being taken from their accounts, and their product not even being all that good. I used it once, and now have a paid subscription I will not use. They even had the cheek to cancel my service, and requested that if I wanted to use it during the new year that I contact them.

ABSOLUTE JOKE, no courtesy, no goodwill, they deceive consumers on purpose AVOID!!!

Firstly, you can not 'code' on all cars, it only works with SOME cars and worst of all, you WILL get STUNG with HIDDEN CHARGES and ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION CHARGE! There is more chance in finding Elvis than a phone number for these clowns and any kind of any customer service IS NOT in their Ethos!!!

Essential features of the app simply do not work. In my case it was the battery registration function for a BMW. When the error was reported, Carly customer service admitted that this feature does not work and that a solution could take a year to appear. Since I purchased their app and scanner specifically for this function, I requested a full refund, but was offered only a 20%, then 30%, refund. I am currently pursuing legal and regulatory remedies against this company. Based on my experience, my advice would be to avoid dealing with this product and company.

This is clearly a scam for them to make money from a product that doesn't work at all. I bought a license for Audi and I tried to code the lights on my Audi A6 and it just keeps giving me an error and failing. I tried customer support to help me, and the response was simply that it didn't work and they couldn't do anything about it. It's a complete money-making scheme, and after I asked for a full or partial refund, they simply replied that no, it was my problem... It's a complete waste of money, money given to this company to grow in a shameful way... I do not recommend it at all.

Where to start. Bought direct from mycarly. No mention of a reoccurring subscription. So paid what I thought was a one time fee. Scanner comes in and right off the start it was terrible. Took over 15 minutes to scan my car. Did not let customization like the say it does, had to look up everything it said was wrong. It is not very user friendly. Fast forward 12 months and I’m hit with a $110 charge. I was super confused and had to even look up what the company was since I wrote this scanner off as junk. It would be one thing to just be a bad product, but to have a hidden subscription that you have to cancel 30 days before renewal to avoid another charge is criminal. Junk product, junk service and a horrendous company. Buy any other one scanner.

Annual subscription for 115 euros for nothing. Carly does nothing more than free OBD scanners. And they don't remind you of the anniversary, they just charge the amount from your card... Thank You Carly!

Terrible company who rely on crude free scanner and expensive software that cannot be refunded even if you are not satisfied with product or it's incompatible with car.

Horrible support that do not support at all.
Far better, cheaper products on the market.
