The last time I used Chiltern Timber / LORDS for the supply of timber and fencing materials was back in 2020. I'm now starting another job and needed some advice with regards to a non-specified item and spoke to Luke who was first class, then Tim who was just as good, then a confirmation email from Barry! Excellent customer services from all named and a big shout out to Andy the delivery driver for all the careful unloading. GREAT COMPANY!!!

My experience of Chiltern Timber is nothing but highly positive.
I have bought direct from them a few times now and have been impressed by just how knowledgeable, efficient and friendly everyone there is.
Online ordering is seamless and the timber is excellent too!

My delivery arrived unannounced when we had other contractors in the drive limiting room for manoeuvre, but we might also have been out! Surely notification of the delivery date is a minimum requirement. I had a long discussion about the potential for problems with access prior to ordering but was told an 8ft drive was adequate - ours is 10ft wide. There was no way the massive delivery truck, which just had our materials on board, could possibly reverse into the drive due to it's length in a narrow road. The ton bags thus block our gate sensor and I have ended up with gravel on the garden. This company are clearly not geared to delivery to domestic customers as they do not have an appropriate delivery vehicle is way too large. On the plus side the materials are good quality and good value.

Shocking delivery charges, £120 for a 2M dado rail to Surrey. Finally got a conformation email from Luke, very vague and blunt. Didn't seem to be bothered

Checked the website for stock levels and then called to check the timescale for local delivery (HP1) and was told a couple of days. Joists turned up next morning and the delivery driver was friendly and helpful.

Joists in great condition except for 1 out of 35 which had a couple of dents from strap marks but I over-ordered to make nogs so not a problem.

Would definitely use again.

A good experience, straight forward online ordering, what you see is what you get, accurate product info, delivery in the timeframe quoted when I called up to ask. Delivery guy could not have been more helpful or friendly. Primed v cut MDF boards look great. Would definitely buy again.

Biggest shops they charge a reasonable delivery , this shop charge £200 for delivery what a rip off. stay away.

5 weeks to deliver. No communications. £102 delivery charge as well.... avoid these if you have alternatives

Luke and his team decided to not update their online system so the items that said were in stock, were not in stock. Then they decided to not tell their customer. Then after I called, still no delivery. Finally after two separate delivers and 5 weeks I got my order. They don’t phone in advance to tell you they are delivering either. So all in all, very frustrating and Luke did himself no favours in the comms with me. No offer of a discount for poor service....

I wanted to but 2.5l Osmo wax. Delivery cost 30 quid!!!!!!
Scam? Be aware...

Big thanks to Luke and the team at Chiltern Timber, can’t give 5 stars due to delivery lead time but quality of products are great and the delivery driver was very courteous and helpful!

Have used these guys a few times for some projects at home. Have found the customer service helpful when you call, deliveries swift and the products consistent quality.

You need to train your customer service girl some customer service skills and telephone communication.... what an attitude.. think it’s safe to say I wouldn’t use Chiltern timber for my construction needs.

Despite the extra strains on their delivery service, they got my order to me the following day (the website said about a week but I asked if there was any way of speeding it up). Easy to get in touch, speedy response and very friendly and helpful delivery driver.

Excellent and very prompt service. Ordered timber on Saturday and it arrived Monday.

When phoning and placing my order, the phone was answered after just a couple of rings. I was advised that there would be a delayed delivery due to amount of orders which is perfectly understandable in the unprecedented times. I expressed that any improvement on the schedule would be appreciated as our requirement of the order was quite urgent. The very next day early in the morning my order was delivered by a very pleasant chap. Fantastic service would highly recommend them.

Delivery charges horrendous, should have a warning on the site avoid if in Scotland, wanted to place an order for £177 with delivery came to £447 ! Scotland is still in the UK, and if I recall excessive charges to deliver to Scotland were banned by the UK government.
These charges should be shown up front, not after you have spent hours measuring and deciding on items.
The term Scottish Highlands is so vague, and not defined shame on you.
I found the items in Devon delivered to Scotland for £40

C16 timber is pressure treated and stabilised by ‘kiln-drying’ to 20% water content. Chiltern Timber store this product outside in all weather. My consignment was very wet. The company said that this was their normal practice. Best to shop after a long dry spell…

Just to thank you for the magnificent effort you made to deliver our cut sheets of MDFat the start of this lock down. Having been let down by another company and had to wait for 30 DAYS before we could cancel and then re-order through you, we were beginning to despair that our job would ever get done. Frustrating because this was a golden opportunity whist we are all self isolating at home. We were due to collect the sheets on the day of the lock down so imagine our delight when the delivery was unexpectedly made the following day. The sheets are accurately cut. Well done Chiltern Timber.

I live in northern Ireland, and ordered a small gallows bracket costing £19. The delivery quoted on the website to my address was £25. With some hesitation I accepted the cost as I needed the bracket for a job that I have to do. Chiltern Timber rang a short time later to say the delivery would be an extra £20. Yes, that's right. £45 to deliver a tiny bracket costing £19!!! The lady said that was the price they had been quoted from their courier, which I thought was outrageous so I said I'd organise my own delivery. I had a quote from DPD which was £16.50, and much more realistic. Anyway, when I enquired about getting a refund of the £25 I had already paid for delivery, they said no. They needed that for putting the bracket in a box. Again you heard it right.....they needed £25 for putting an item in a box, and refused to refund it. I would stay very very clear of any company who uses such shady tactics. I for one have been sorely bitten, but do yourself a favour, and look elsewhere.

Not about the supply, I didn't get that far.

I just wasted time believing what was on the website about lengths of oak skirting. Luckily before ordering on line, I checked to be told that the website was wrong, and the info had been out of date for some time.
The receptionist was going to pass the info on.
