Cornerstone Removals Reviews 

Do not use this company! They are very good at the contract negotiation stage, but fail to point you to section 8.2 of the contract, which states the maximum liability per item, if they admit fault, is £40. Their removers damaged our three seater bed settee and admitted fault and told us to claim. That's where the fun started! Cornerstone refused our claim and pointed out the above section of the contract. They denied responsibility and stated their removers had acted under our instruction and supervision and so was our fault. Once they agreed to pay out, to "leave on good terms", it was nearly two months since our moving date before we got the money. And we still have not had an apology. You have been warned!

Brilliant from start to finish. We had a video call to work out how much space we needed in the vans. All communication was clear and helpful. The men who helped us on moving day were so efficient and I would highly recommend.

You cannot fault their sales pitch, Elizabeth promised everything. Unfortunately, it is not followed through on.
The team who turned up on the day didn't seem to know what they had to do, they didn't have the inventory, and I needed to explain what was going and what was staying.
My soft furnishings were unprotected during the move and were delivered dirty. The walls in my new home will need a new coat of paint as they were made scuffed and dirty during the move.
A big decider in choosing which removal company to hire was whether they were able to take out the window in my living room to remove the sofa as it wouldn't fit through the door. During the initial consultation I told them of this and with it being a video call I also showed them the window and explained what had had to happen to bring the sofa in and that the same needed to happen to take it out. The assured me this wasn't a problem and they could do this, (other removal firms I spoke to also provided this service). This requirement was written in the move plan they sent me. I also called back a few days later to make sure they could do this as this was my biggest worry. Yet again, it was confirmed that this wasn't a problem. On the day the men were confused by the request and said they didn't know how to do it. I called the office and Elizabeth said there shouldn't be a problem with this and that she would sort it out and get back to me. When she did get back to me it was to say that they didn't provide this service and she thought I had meant the window just needed to be opened. I was obviously taken aback as this just wasn't true. We had discussed it multiple times and I had actually shown her the window! I had to resort to spending £200 on an emergency glazier to do the simple
job and then spent a stressful remainder of the day requesting a discount as they hadn't provided the service they promised. Elizabeth decided to refuse delivery of my possessions until I had paid the full amount accusing me of lying about the window. The contract also stated items that we had agreed I didn't want and they were to take to the recycling centre but they point blank refused to do this. I was shocked at the disgusting behaviour of this firm and looked deeper into the company, past the so called good reviews and discovered that they have been taken to court many times and have had their membership from the National Guild of Removals and Storers revoked.
They have, of course, ignored my email of complaint.
I am now in the process of taking them to court also.

Claudio and Adrian did a fantastic job today packing the van efficiently and quickly. They worked cheerfully and took great care over the possessions they were moving. Efficient service which I would recommend

Paid £1500 for a special care package and extra insurance. The subcontractors with no equipment dropped my heavy item down the stairs. Nearly killing their staff member. It's January 2024, 7 months on, still have damage to my new home, and my item is still waiting for it to be fixed.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. Jack the manager sweet talks you that everything will be fine. Assured me his best insurance team member is on the case. Then stops replying.
This company was recently on Ripoff Britain, there's no wonder why!!
I wish I never had any dealings with them.
They are not members of BAR British Association of Removers.
You'll get subcontractors turn up with no equipment and damage most things you own.

Do not risk your removal with this company.
They are happy to take a video walk around but we demanded a physical visit to quote the move as we wanted confidence that any removal company knew the size and scope of the job. Their assessor clearly underestimated the size of the job- major issue number 1.
Cornerstones subcontracted the entire job out to a brilliant company called Greenwood’s (in Chichester) who I highly recommend. Greenwood’s did everything to try to resolve issues not of their making. Book direct with them next time ( even for a Surrey move). Cornerstones under-ordered manpower and packing materials, so the guys couldn’t pack the house. Things like promised carpet protectors never materialised and nor did the Cornerstones people care at all. The Greenwood’s people were telling us what should have been waiting for them and the extent to which the job had been underestimated.
Cornerstones underestimated the job, number of people needed and time needed. Greenwood’s immediately identified the problem and called for an extra van and packers from their company who arrived within a couple of hours.
Cornerstones blamed the packers for slow progress. They took zero responsibility for anything- trying to blame Greenwood’s for all issues.
When I started to complain at the chaos and numerous issues they sent some Cornerstone people down the day of the physical move, including a Manager. The packers could hardly speak English and perhaps as a result did not properly label any boxes, (many boxes were totally unlabelled), they used clothes and cuddly toys to protect breakables, creating mixed boxes that were impossible to identify. It was a nightmare to unpack and most boxes had to be opened and moved to identify what room they needed to be in.
The ‘Manager’ was arguing with the Greenwood’s guys and me- when for most of the time he was wandering around the house with a clip board- watching not helping. Cornerstone decided they should finish the packing ( which had the right materials have been there should have been finished the day before) but they did a pretty poor job- including not even finishing packing up the kitchen- we had to do that ourselves on move day after completion!
Greenwood’s admitted it was one of the worse planned removals they had seen.
I complained immediately to Cornerstone who hid behind the ‘contract’ and were clearly fobbing me off They told the contractors not to continue to offload until I paid the bill in full. Under duress I had to and told the Cornerstones office I had no confidence that they would answer my claim for compensation- they assured me they would. As expected, since they have ignored every email and every phone call.
They were utterly disgraceful and I cannot warn people off them any more- they are not worth the risk. All the mistakes were their’s but they took zero responsibility at all. I never got a reply to my compensation claim, never mind any compensation.
We checked trustpilot reviews before booking Cornerstones. I believe there must be a lot of fake reviews on here as these were the most unprofessional movers who were rude jobsworths who created a chaotic and super stressful move but blamed everyone else. We contracted with them and could not have regretted that more. Avoid at all cost.

Delighted with the service, our two movers Gabriel and Marian were friendly and helpful despite a very challenging moving situation with a curved 3 floor staircase and no elevator. Cornerstone made sure we were prepared properly and saved us money too with a great solution for our volume of furniture.

Complete mockery of a removal company.

Have Romanian workers who cant speak English. Who are thieves. They trash your belongings & have a system where they take pictures of damage & “upload to there job sheet” it can b said the “damage was there before”

They have vans that are un-road worthy. With bald tyres. Binding brakes.

They over load there vans with your belongings to which your belongings & contents could be impounded by the police.

Un safe. Non professional. No care house or belongings. Stay away!!

Furniture was dismantled and reassembled with care.

Minor breakage to lampshade but everything else in one peice

The team were on time, very friendly and polite. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
They worked well as a team and seemed to enjoy each other’s company which created a relaxed atmosphere.
I would recommend them and they were excellent value for money.

Liliana has done a brilliant job and been so careful with all our precious fragile things. We are very grateful. Regards Jenny

Efficient service, great value for money, quick responses to all enquiries, made moving stress free and painless

I believed I had booked a local company but on moving day I discovered the job had been outsourced. This meant the crew had driven 2 hours before reaching us and our moving destination was another 2 hours drive up the country. This meant the crew were tired before starting to unload which affected the quality of the work. All minor issues but still frustrating and caused issues for us re-building furniture and minor dents to some items. Very pleasant young men though who did work hard for us on the day,

Turned up on time for moving from West Midlands to Cornwall. Gabriel and his mate worked none stop loading the van with care and all was secured. Arrived in Cornwall and again unloaded with care. Very good service

We had an absolutely terrible experience on our move day and after with Cornerstone Removals.

We paid for the full packing service, as well as moving. The packing team, Liliana and another lady, were pleasant and efficient, but, when we came to unpack, even though they had labelled boxes, they clearly just threw anything and everything into any old box and closed it. To give just one example, the kettle was in one box and its stand / plug in a completely different one, not even labelled as “kitchen”. Total nightmare to unpack, couldn’t find anything easily and there were lots of small items that hadn’t been packed with care and are therefore broken or damaged.

We were unfortunate to have Paulo and his team for the actual move. One of the first things Paulo said to us was that he was super hungover from drinking too much cachaca (a Brazilian liquor) the night before. This was very alarming, especially as they had just driven over 3 hours to reach us, so were, most likely, still over the legal drink drive limit in terms of alcohol whilst driving.

Paulo left most of the work to his, inexperienced (his words) assistants. In fact, I went to check that everything had been packed from the office in our old house and found Paulo laying on the floor taking a nap. He didn’t even get up when I left the room.

By the time we got to the new house, Paulo was feeling really unwell (his words, he said he wondered if he had covid and not just a hangover) so did virtually nothing, whilst leaving the inexperienced assistants to it. Paulo actually went and sat in one of the vans to have a nap (again).

It took them a long time to assemble our wardrobes in the new house (they dismantled them to transport) and they didn’t follow our instructions as to where we wanted them, but once constructed they were too heavy to move, so we’ve just had to live with that, which is far from ideal.

The team brought the boxes into the house with absolutely no regard for the labelling on them (not that that meant much, as it turns out). They also gave no thought as to how we might be able to move around the house once they left - it was virtually impossible because they had just dumped boxes anywhere and everywhere.

About 30 mins before they finished unloading, Paulo woke up and actually had the audacity to ask us if he could stay the night at our new house, as he didn’t feel up to driving back. Naturally, we said no, which didn’t seem to go down too well, but the whole thing made us feel very uncomfortable.

The following day, 24th November 2023, we found that our microwave was missing and immediately contacted Paulo directly (as we had his number from the day before) who confirmed he had our microwave and it had been missed because it was in the cabin of the van, not the back of the vans that we were shown empty at the end of the moving day. Paulo then said he would buy us a new microwave and asked for us to send options to him. He clearly found the options we sent to be too expensive, so said he would bring the microwave back and did in fact do so on 25th November 2023, along with 2 doormats he also found of ours in the cabin.

Finally, it was on 28th November 2023 when we were unpacking that we discovered they had seriously damaged an expensive musical instrument of mine. What’s more, they had clearly tried to cover this up, as they had put a part of the musical instrument (that had clearly fallen out of the case when they dropped it) into a different bag that had clothes in. As well as emailing Cornerstone Removals directly, we contacted Paulo via audio message to let him know about the issue, at which point he called me directly and apologised profusely for this and said he had spoken with his team to find out what happened and told them they should have told us on the day that this had happened.

However, since then, I have been unable to get hold of Cornerstone Removals on the phone (they just don’t pick up) and they only responded to my email over 2 weeks later (when we threatened legal action) on 14th December 2023. They have since denied all responsibility, saying they spoke with the removal team and they say they didn’t move that item (which they clearly did, and I’ve asked them to provide proof they didn’t - needless to say, no further response).

As such, I will be pursuing legal action against them to recover compensation for the significant damage to this instrument.

Also, just to warn people, Paulo is in the process of setting up his own removal company called Macho Removals. I can see they have appeared on Instagram in recent days - he gave us his card so we could recommend him, which we obviously won’t be doing! So, I would be very wary of using Macho Removals if you are ever looking for removals as well, as I am sure he and his team won’t be any different to this experience!
