Poor service and company
We moved my father to Electric Kiwi after using Powerswitch.org.nz, which showed them as a competitive option. Big mistake. His bills have nearly doubled compared to his previous provider, despite the same usage.
When we raised this, Electric Kiwi refused to acknowledge the issue. For a pensioner, this is not only unfair but shows a complete lack of care for vulnerable customers. Their pricing is misleading and their customer service dismissive.
We’ve now escalated the matter to Utility Disputes and will be raising it further if no resolution is provided.
I strongly caution anyone considering Electric Kiwi – what looks like a good deal on paper may turn out to be very costly in reality.

So far so good!
So far so good. A refugee from Flick I've been with Electric Kiwi for just over a month (for electricity only so far).
Weekly costs have been comparable with Flick so far albeit I am taking full advantage of free hours and free Sundays. I'm also using the hot water automation.
The website is very good with all my info rght there; Ilove being able to change my free hour so easily.
I've emailed a query once and had a reply within a couple of hours.
After I had signed up I read the reviews and wondered if I'd made a mistake but happy to report I don't think I have.
Definitely thinking about also using the phone and internet options but a bit worried they wouldn't be as straightforward to switch. I'll keep checking the reviews for them.
So five weeks with Electric Kiwi and my power is averaging $40 a week, $10 a week less than with Flick. Will be looking into switching mobile.
So I switched my mobile to Electric Kiwi when I realised Spark was charging me $50 a month. Switch was so easy with no hassles. Is now costing me 59c a day.
Power currently averaging $35 a week. Less heat pump and dryer use with warmer weather but also my power using strategy has improved!

I really loved the service and everything and I would of given 5 stars but because I'm still waiting on my refund I can't give a review on that yet depending on whether I get it on time or not but once I do receive it I will definatly leave another review

Watch out!!! Had switched over for power & straight away the daily power charge looked to be double than normal. Looked into it more and they actually charge double per everyday kWh than everyone else in market. Power bill ended up being $800 for the month!!!

Crappy service and bills are doubling within a month
Our power bill kept increasing each month. When we asked why (we know prices are increasing - everything is) they told us that our power bill was the same as last month - completely untrue as we checked what we used. Our power bill more than doubled in a month. They didn't care and told us that maybe turning our oven off at the wall would help (we have everything turned off at the wall that we do not use). Really crappy response and liars to boot. Do not trust them.

I love being an Electric Kiwi customer. Their customer service is second to none, and they really make you feel like they value people over profits. I had a billing issue and a couple of questions, sorted super quickly and easily with their live chat function. This is why you go with independent retailers over those big gentailers!!!
