Potential buyers in Ireland, particularly anyone buying an e-bike as a Christmas present, should be very careful with most of the bikes advertised on this site.

Under Irish law, an ordinary e-bike must meet specific requirements, including 250W maximum continuous rated power, pedal assistance only, and assistance cutting out before 25 km/h.

Yet most if not all bikes advertised by Electric Power Ireland list features such as 32–45 km/h speeds and pure-electric/power modes. These specifications may mean the bike is not legally classed as an ordinary e-bike in Ireland and could instead fall under e-moped regulations requiring registration, tax, insurance and the appropriate licence.

Gardaí are actively enforcing these rules and have been seizing non-compliant e-bikes and e-scooters.

Do not assume that a bike advertised as "250W" or "25 km/h" is automatically legal in Ireland. Check the exact specification and legal classification before spending your money.

This is especially important before buying one as a Christmas present — you could otherwise end up with a very expensive bike that cannot legally be used on Irish public roads or which will be seized after christmas.

When I questioned the new laws about scooters and e bikes they became very aggressive which left me totally shocked. I then showed the website to a neighbour who is a Garda detective and he informed me that 99% of the e scooters and e bikes are now part of the banned list and would be confiscated from anyone caught on them. Take my advice and buy if a reputable business and not one based out of a council estate in finglas. I would also doubt how genuine the positive reviews are for this company as it’s easy to create your own reviews

Also you are correct it is not illegal to sell them and anyone that buys them for use on private land like a farm or something will be ok but anyone who buys one for themselves or their kids for use in public needs to understand that they will be seized and destroyed.

My advice is to go into a shop where you can see the goods and try them out and be fully aware that what you buy will not be seized and destroyed by the Garda

I contacted ElectricPower.ie to get a Bike to Work quote for a Shengmilo S600 Dual Motor Electric Bike. Initially the process seemed straightforward, but things became confusing and frustrating once pricing was discussed.

The bike was advertised on their website at €1,469.99, yet when I requested a Bike to Work Scheme quote, I was given significantly higher prices. During the email exchange, I was first told they would effectively match a competitor's much higher price, despite their own advertised price being lower. At various stages I was quoted prices ranging from €1,699.99 to €1,879.99, while the bike remained advertised online for €1,469.99.

When I questioned the discrepancy, I was told there had been confusion between different bike models and that the advertised website price was an "online exclusive" offer. However, I never received a clear explanation as to why a Bike to Work quote should cost substantially more than the price displayed on their own website.

What made the experience even more frustrating was that the conversation seemed to shift from discussing the bike's advertised price to justifying higher prices based on competitor pricing. In my view, price matching should benefit the customer, not result in a higher quote than a retailer's own advertised price.

I also found the website difficult to navigate and the overall buying process lacked transparency. As an additional concern, when I looked up the business address, it appeared to correspond to a residential property in Finglas West, which added to my uncertainty about proceeding with such a significant purchase.

To be fair, responses to emails were reasonably quick, but the inconsistent pricing and lack of clarity ultimately led me to abandon the purchase and look elsewhere

Edit: as a response to your crying here on trustpilot because of your bad customer service, Don't advertise something as one price then charge another price. Also maybe get better at your job and you would not have these issues that you seem to receive all the time. You are a scam company and no matter what you want to say or do will change that. Just be decent and give customers the prices you advertise otherwise change them on your poorly designed website to reflect the correct information. It does not bother me, contact my company they will also call you for what you are. ;)

Before you spend a single euro, make sure you understand exactly what you’re buying.

Many of the e-bikes and e-scooters sold are capable of speeds that exceed the legal limits for use on Irish public roads. If a vehicle exceeds those limits or doesn’t comply with Irish law, it is not intended for normal use on public roads and should only be used on private land or off-road.

The Government has announced that from August new laws will introduce stricter rules, including a minimum age of 18 for e-scooter riders, mandatory helmets and high-visibility clothing, and new legal obligations on retailers. Enforcement is expected to become much stricter.

Don’t rely solely on what a salesperson tells you. If you buy a non-compliant bike or scooter and use it on public roads, you—not the retailer—will be responsible for the consequences. Make sure the vehicle is legal for the way you intend to use it before handing over your money.

Everything's fine, the delivery was on time. The bike is in good condition. The only thing is, the box smelled like mice, and there's rust on the pipe where there's no paint. It's weird, but not fatal. And it looks like one bolt is missing from the leg.

Electric Power is one of the best cycle stores in Dublin.

I honestly don’t know where to start when reviewing them—from buying my e-bike, to assembling it, to purchasing accessories even a year later after my warranty had expired.

The owner went out of his way to get my e-bike fixed as quickly as possible. I contacted him about my issue just three days ago, and the next message I received was that the required part had been shipped from Germany. Within three days, the part arrived and my bike was ready.

This is what true customer service looks like.

Without a second thought, he is the person to go to if you want to buy an e-bike and receive excellent service both during the purchase and long after the sale.

Electricpower.ie sent an email with a quote for bike to work scheme and stated the following. "Please note we offer the best price in the market for this model for bike to work scheme and if you find elsewhere cheaper we will beat that price"
When I told them I had a cheaper price (Which I have, much cheaper) they just stated "If you get it cheaper that fine"
