What a brilliant accounting service alternative to the traditional accountancy! Easy to use and navigate, very helpful customer service!

Ember has been great for someone like me who is completely financially illiterate and is confused easily by banking and accounting language! They respond quickly when you message them in the support chat and are so good at explaining things clearly and sometimes multiple times. I think I would be very lost without their support and would recommend to anyone who is new to being self employed!

Ember came highly recommended to me by a colleague who had used them during a tech start-up. I've been impressed with their support in setting up my business. Accountants reply quickly and are knowledgeable and you have full control as to how much advice you choose to access. For my small limited company, it is much more cost-effective than a traditional accountant.

Ember are a fantastic option for your accounting needs. Easy to use and their super helpful and friendly staff are there to support you if you need any further assistance.

Cannot recommend enough. I had submitted my own self assessment for a property I owned the previous year and was told I had paid too much tax. I found Ember on an Instagram add and contacted them when it was time to submit the current year. They reviewed my tax for current year and previous and managed to get me a rebate! So happy with the service. Steve was also super patient and friendlt throughout. Will use again.

Really good overall service which does it all for you
Only thing I would love to see improved is the automation around receipts matching with transactions and being automatically approved. Would save a lot of time. And also would love to be able to do bulk import receipts + approval when manual approval is necessary

I love ember. I have never understood what my accountants are up to and what I should do to organise my business and minimise taxes, but now I have full control and so much more information available to me, helping me to make the best decisions. I’ll never go back!

Over the past 2 years I moved from one accountant who went AWOL, to another who responded months after any enquiry. I chose Ember after being showed the platform along with patience and helpfulness shown by Steve when discussing the migration.

What is even more gratifying is that once onboard the service continues to be exemplary. Finally I feel that I have accountants who respond quickly, don't talk in jargon, and are genuinely interested enough to think through any issues.

I have really benefited from using Ember! The software is very easy to use, and helps create the much-needed overview of finances. The personal service is great too, I always receive an immediate answer to my questions. I use Ember for my Ltd company and it's a relief to have my accounting taken care of.

I was struggling with understanding my tax submission so I jumped onto the free online chat and within a day of back and forth, Ember had laid out my options and gave me sound advice without trying to charge me. Great customer service.

As a self-employed person I've always found accounting and doing my own self-assessment very intimidating. I'm glad I stumbled upon Ember who were on hand to help me out and save me some money in the process!

The Positives: the software is great. It makes tracking your tax easier.

The Negatives: the accountant help needs a lot of work. Often on the chat, an accountant will answer one question then leave you hanging for hours or days as they chat to other clients. Not having a single point of contact is inefficient and removes accountability (pardon the pun) from any one accountant taking responsibility for actioning things. I've been trying for weeks to get my accounts transferred to Ember, to get VAT registered, to add a company director and salary. It's all FAR harder than it was with my previous accountant, for whom I'm feeling nostalgic.

I feel bad knocking this young company as I think they have a great concept and they are still figuring out how to deliver it. But their argument that Ember replaces a conventional accountant is not, in my experience after a month with them, the case.

Improvements they need to make:

-a commitment to response times. For example I have an open chat with a question I asked 6 days ago, still unanswered.
-checking with you that they have answered all your questions on the chat before disappearing.
-accountability: if you ask an accountant for help with something, that accountant should see the job through to completion
-proactivity: its frustrating to keep having to chase to see if things have been done.

Hopefully if they can improve the interpersonal side of their business, Ember will be great. For the time being Im sticking with them to see.

The team at Ember have done an amazing job of registering my new limited company and holding my hand through the initial setup of my business. Their app is awesome and I love being able to get help from real, super friendly people through the integrated chat. I really think this is the future of accounting!

Takes a bit of time to get your head into if you have no prior experience with accounting/accounting software, but they have a great team that are usually pretty quick to respond with help.

Easy to use software, easy to get help, nice bunch of people. Recommended.
