Monastery of St John the Baptist (Online Bookshop) Reviews

Brilliant service, speedy delivery, very well packaged, good communication throughout. The book is of excellent quality. A blessing. Thank you.

I will start this review by saying that the content of all the books the monastery publishes that I have read has been exceptional.

For those of us who hunger for the deeper life with God they provide insights and bread crumbs that are helpful, inspiring and challenging. Definitely things to aim for……

As for the physical books themselves - I ordered a few last spring and just recently downloaded an audio book from the monastery and I have been so impressed by both!

As for the physical books - they are truly beautiful!
The binding, the ribbon book marker and all the other “little things” that take a book from being functional to being something special are there.

The ordering process was easy and being in Canada (where I am used to very high mailing fees from places much closer) I was amazed at how reasonable the postage was.

My more recent purchase of an audio book has been equally impressive.
To be able to listen and contemplate such works while out and about - or doing mundane tasks is a real blessing.

I am hoping they will issue more of them soon!

Fast, efficient, courteous service. Book very well-wrapped.

Very beautifully packaged with love and care for details, speedy delivery and I am so very grateful for the bookmark and card of St Sophrony which includes his Kontakion on the reverse. Glory to God for All things!

Outstanding service in providing a deeply illuminating theological work. Thank you!

The packaging was so carefully and thoughtfully done, and the items arrived in perfect condition without any damage in transit. I really appreciate the care and attention you put into every detail — it truly shows.

Fantastic experience purchasing from Essex Monastery! Quick delivery and packaged with care. The book itself is beautiful and high quality. Would recommend without hesitation.

The package arrived perfectly — secure, neat, and on time. The book itself is absolutely beautiful, even better than I expected. Everything about this purchase was perfect. Highly recommended!

Excellent
Very good

Each book that the monastery offers is a spiritual treasure, and it’s wonderful that they are now being offered in audiobook format, which is well suited for the busy (too busy) contemporary lifestyle. I’m incredibly grateful to have access to such straightforward accessible resources in the spiritual life that are as inspiring as they are informative.

My experience with book and misc. items from the monastery has been efficient and reliable. But, beyond that, I wanted to especially recommend buying gifts for people from the monastery bookshops. The reason is not only the superior packing of whatever I order, but that the person who is tasked with high class gift wrapping is a truly artistic aesthete. I have seen the coordinating array of papers, cords, ribbons, raffia, and wax seals, and I can absolutely count on my gifts posting directly to the recipients, in good time, and in perfect condition. I could never wrap the gifts that well!!! So, you can simply send an email note to the Fathers in the bookshop, and let them know your different orders and addresses. These conscientious people will wrap and send your gifts to the doorsteps, and you will have improved everyone’s day.
They are truly works of art! Kathryn B

Prompt postage, well packaged with love.
Thank you and God bless you all

Best book delivery i have ever seen, i always had a respectful approach towards books, it came wrapped up like one would ship a glass object (this is how one respects the book), couldn’t praise them enough, the book itself doesn’t need a feedback as it speaks for itself! Thank you !

I am so impressed by the quality of these volumes and the service provided. God bless you!

Not only did the book come quickly but also wrapped beautifully and contained lovely icons of the Theotokos and St Silouan. A joy to receive and read. Thank you so much!

It is a pleasure to purchase books from Essex Monastery. The books are amazing and I could find them in english and in romanian! The package arrived promptly and beautifully wrapped. Thank you for small icons!! Great surprise!!
