Bad Advice
They advised me to use the Financial Ombudsmen Service (FOS) as the FCA regulated Financial Adviser had not paid my Pension I had paid into for 20 years and was in breach of their regulations because they didn't respond to my complaint within the required timescale. I subsequently used the FOS for my complaint. I wish I hadn't because they changed their own adjudicator's decision to uphold my complaint after over a year and took two and a half years to rule in favour of the Financial Adviser who never paid my Pension. A totally inept organisation with arrogant staff and complicit with an equally inept, corrupt, untruthful and unaccountable Financial Ombudsman Service.
I don't make these claims lightly and if the Service wishes me to substantiate the above I will be more than happy to do so.

An incompetent institution failing in its mandate
The FCA describes this as their mandate:
protect consumers – we secure an appropriate degree of protection for consumers:
-countless instances of fraud remain uninvestigated and continue with impunity
-banks are allowed to claim to charge "no fees" for currency conversions, but the rates they quote for buying and selling are different and 8% apart.(co-op bank)
-consumers are harrassed with onerous KYC and AML regulation. Guily until proven innocent is the motto.
-their hostility to the crypto space and failure to provide regulatory clarity has forced many consumers onto unregulated fly-by-night venues to gain exposure to crypto. It also prevents traditional institutions from offering crypto products that the market has an enormous appetite for
-to be fair, they have been successful in protecting many consumers from making lifechaning money with bitcoin, so thank you
promote competition – we promote effective competition in the interests of consumers
-overbearing regulation makes it extremely costly for new market participants to enter. This is not promoting competition, it is stifling it
-the FCA has been openly hostile to the crypto space. This is neither promoting competition nor in the interest of consumers.
The FCA should be held accountable for its failures.
Don't care about the people...
Don't care about the people.... what is the point in their existence?! useless.
Absolutely Terrible
Absolutely Terrible, no benefit to anyone!
I think the FCA are improving
I think the FCA are improving. Lots of what they are doing sounds good, but lots of it is jam tomorrow, like the new Duty of Care consultation.
However they have failed to complete their internal review of the Woodford scandal. It should be an independent review, not a case of the FCA marking their own homework.
The Gloster review showed how it should be done.
They have a tough job and lots of them work hard. The problem was that the lions were led by donkeys. I think Charles Randell was making progress but he has been asked to leave without transparency as to why. When the FCA get more confidence in their ability to admit their mistakes, that will be a sign of progress. We do not seek the Arch Angel Gabriel - that is unrealistic - but we deserve a better regulator. I think they are making progress and in two years I hope to give them 3 or even four stars, but for now it is only 2.
Simply the worst customer service ever
BEWARE of Mr Bailey BOE Gov who declined to comment
Mr Bailey declined to comment. on this article which is too long to post here and they dont allow links so google this in double italics for the complete link "" FCA buried finding that top bosses 'missed opportunity' to stop investment scams"".Exclusive: FCA planned to admit that it 'missed opportunity to reconsider and act on,' intelligence about a 'boiler room' scam, allowing ordinary savers to lose millions of pounds
The City watchdog buried its own finding that its top bosses missed an opportunity to stop scammers pushing investments which later collapsed with almost £70m of savers' cash, internal correspondence indicates.
The documents raise further questions about Bank of England governor Andrew Bailey's failure to stop an epidemic of investment fraud when he was boss of the Financial Conduct Authority.
In October last year, the FCA drafted a letter in which it admitted it had "missed (an) opportunity to reconsider, and act on" intelligence that was provided directly to Mr Bailey.
The finding was later deleted and, a year later, the letter has still not been sent to its intended recipient, a whistleblower who provided Mr Bailey with evidence about a series of alleged scams. The Bank governor had been told in 2018 about a sales company called Amyma that was deliberately targeting pensioners, making false claims and using high-pressure sales tactics to push investments which later turned out to be worthless.
Despite repeated warnings, the FCA failed to take effective action and Amyma was allowed to continue operating. One of the investments it was pushing, Blackmore Bond, went on to take £47m from savers before collapsing. Two other "minibonds" being sold by the scammers and other sales firms have resulted in combined losses of more than £20m.
Newly unearthed emails show that two of Mr Bailey's closest aides - including his private secretary who ran his office at the FCA - discussed evidence provided by Paul Carlier, a bank whistleblower.
The watchdog's head of enforcement, Mark Steward, told Mr Carlier he was "making inquiries" and the FCA's head of intelligence was also copied in on correspondence about Blackmore.
While the regulator outwardly stated it was investigating, one email indicates that it took a different approach internally.
Just half an hour after Mr Carlier provided his evidence, a manager in the FCA's intelligence team emailed Mr Bailey and Mr Steward recommending that the regulator should simply make a log of the evidence, pass it to another team and take no further action. The correspondence contrasts with Mr Bailey's statements to MPs on the Treasury Select Committee earlier this year when he said he had been unable to prevent investment scams because warnings from the public weren't being passed on by the FCA's customer contact centre.
Gina Miller, who runs the True and Fair Campaign for better financial regulation, said the emails pointed to a "culture of cover-up" at the FCA under Mr Bailey's leadership.
"I cease to be shocked by the ineptitude and disregard with which the FCA treats victims, all too often due to its own regulatory failure."
Ms Miller, who is also known for her campaigning work on Brexit, called for a "radical overhaul" of the FCA's complaints department, adding: "This document proves that the FCA decided to delete its initial finding that there was 'a missed opportunity to reconsider, and act on, the intelligence,' presumably to prevent criticism of Mr Bailey and Mr Steward."

The FCA what a joke!
The FCA in my opinion is a complete joke. When you're given poor advice by a financial adviser they go through the motions but do nothing. In my experience only litigation has an effect and it's a judge that will pick up anomalies/corrupt practices by financial advisors, which the FCA failed to identify.
Abismal group of foreign people to talk…
Abismal group of foreign people to talk or deal with, seems to be set up by someone who has absolutely no reality on costs for businesses, while they then rapper the U.K. businesses of money so they can investigate them!!! Absolutely absurd
The FCA are not fit for purpose
The FCA are not fit for purpose. Under their watch an avalanche of FCA regulated companies have cost the good and decent folk of this country billions of pounds. Whenever these companies have been discovered to have perpetrated violations of the law, the FCA do absolutely nothing against the companies or their Directors.
Shame on everyone who works at the FCA.
Should be closed down ASAP.
If FCA cant protect, who can?
I am out of words, that FCA ignores UK residents complaints and does nothing to investigate UK registered companies who involved in money laundering and Fraud, who are under FCA regulation. After 2months email back and forward, provided all information about Fraud, as i did my own investigation, giving bank details, bank transactions, you simply ignoring me. These comapnies every day scamming innocent people who ask for help. Is for you £350K loss too small to take some actions?
What is your purpose ?
Fuming
Consumer Watchdog - Really?
I am not at all surprised by all the extremely low ratings for the FCA. My own experience leaves me with despair for anyone seeking to obtain any action on anything at all. I feel as if I have upset them because I have disturbed their sleep by making contact. Their complacency is unbelievable and leaves me with no confidence whatsoever in the organisation fulfilling the function for which it was set up to perform.
I can not believe that this outfit is at all proactive in protecting the consumer. In fact I would be surprised if it is proactive in anything.
A one star award is far too many
The FCA reported on a motor finance scam – but what about our mis-sold caravans scam?
On the 4th March 2019, under the headline “Car buyers overcharged £1000 by dealers for loans, says watchdog” BBC News reported Jonathan Davidson of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) saying, with reference to a newly published report on motor finance:-
‘We found that some dealers are overcharging unsuspecting customers over a thousand pounds in interest charges in order to obtain bigger commission payouts for themselves.’
Reading this I naturally thought of what had happened to us and possibly to many other ‘unsuspecting customers’ who had bought caravans from Bourne Leisure in recent times and so on the 15th August 2021 I wrote to the FCA the following:-
‘I have recently come across the FCA’s report “Our work on motor finance – final findings” (March 2019) in which concern was raised that some of the dealerships were overcharging interest rates on loans by as much as £1,100 per purchaser. This led me to wonder if the FCA has also carried out a similar investigation into how static caravans are financed. To this end I wish to draw attention to the attachment of Haven’s website from December 2019 which featured an example of a “Pre-owned holiday home package”.
‘The costs involved are: van £14,218 + site fees £2,682 + rates £572 + gas & electric £288 + insurance £235 = total of £17,995. From this a £3000 deposit is deducted leaving £14,995 to be borrowed which is £777 more than the cost of the caravan. Bearing in mind none of the first year costs should have been added on to the loan, and the deposit should have been taken off the £14,218, this would have left £11,218 to be borrowed which is £3,777 less than the loan based on the “package” version.
‘This clearly reveals the depth of the scam and there are people paying far more for their holiday homes than they should be. This probably affects hundreds of caravan owners who have bought from Haven with finance from Black Horse or a similar company.
‘Is the FCA aware of this hire purchase overcharging scam?’
To which the FCA responded two days later:-
‘I understand from your query that after coming across “Our work on motor finance – final findings”, you want to know if the FCA has carried out an investigation into how static caravans are financed. You’ve said that Haven featured an example of a pre-owned holiday home package financed by Black Horse or a similar company, where people are paying more for their holiday homes than they should be. I appreciate this may have caused concerns so I’ve provided information below which you may find useful…
‘I thought it would be useful to provide you with information about the FCA and what we do. We're responsible for the conduct and supervision of regulated firms such as banks, building societies, insurers, investment firms and those offering consumer credit in the UK. We set the rules and regulations for authorised firms to follow in relation to their regulated activities (such as credit broking or insurance services). We don’t have the powers to look into individual complaints as we have to remain impartial as the regulator and these powers were given to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
‘We expect regulated firms to adhere to the rules and guidance we have in place. We expect firms to treat customers fairly and to communicate information in a way which is clear fair and not misleading. If you’re unhappy with the way you’ve been treated you may have the complaints process and Financial Ombudsman Service available to you …
‘You’ve asked if we’re aware of this hire purchase overcharging scam. I’m not able to comment on whether this information has been provided to us previously but I do want to let you know that I’ve today logged this information so that the wider organisation is aware of the points you’ve highlighted. We appreciate members of the public raising their concerns with us, because this can be a valuable source of intelligence which better enables us to supervise the conduct of the firms and individuals we regulate; helps us to understand what’s happening in the industry; and can contribute towards the work we do to ensure the market works well for consumers.
‘Just to set expectations, we wouldn’t be able to provide you with an update and it’s not possible for us to tell people about the outcome of any action we may have taken in response to the information they have provided to us. This is because much of the work we do with firms is covered by legal and policy restrictions on what we can disclose. I can appreciate this may be frustrating but rest assured the information will be reviewed carefully…’
From the above I assume the answer to my question as to whether the FCA has investigated how static caravans are financed is …
