Only female player, raised concerns, then blocked – inclusivity in question
I participated in football sessions via Footy Addicts for around two years at Oaks Park High School, in games advertised as “co-ed.” One aspect I did value was the flexibility of being able to join different games across venues, which made it easier to fit sessions around availability.
Before joining, I checked with the organiser (Throughball) that women were welcome, and I attended regularly as a paying participant. During that time, I was the only female player consistently attending these sessions.
Over time, I noticed changes in the group dynamic, including less inclusive behaviour and a more closed style of play. I raised this through the platform’s feedback system, which is provided to players after matches. I regularly provided post-match feedback over time, which included both positive ratings and occasional constructive comments when issues arose in sessions. My feedback related to general player behaviour within sessions, including instances where play became less inclusive, such as certain players dominating the game, limited passing to others, and situations where less experienced players appeared to feel sidelined. These observations were not limited to my own experience but reflected the overall dynamic of the sessions at the time.
Shortly after submitting more direct feedback about player behaviour and sportsmanship, I was blocked from attending future sessions by the organiser (Throughball), without warning or any opportunity to discuss the concerns.
I raised this with Footy Addicts, who confirmed that organisers have full discretion to block players and that there is no appeal process. While I understand the importance of organiser autonomy, this experience raises questions about how feedback is handled and whether players can raise concerns without risk of exclusion.
It also made me reflect on what “co-ed” means in practice. While the sessions were open to all, being the only female participant for such a long period — and then being excluded following feedback — did not feel aligned with an inclusive environment.
I’m sharing this as a factual account of my experience. Others may have different experiences, but I think there is room for improvement in how feedback, inclusivity, and player protections are managed on the platform. I hope the platform reflects on how inclusive participation is supported in practice, not just in description.

The people I played with were all different levels and very friendly. I would highly recommend this app to anyone interested in playing football either for the first time or getting back into it.

But different people have different standards.

An excellent way to gather
An excellent way to do sport and socialise in the same time, the app bring together people across London. You can make friends easy.
Whether you play with men or woman your ability shouldn’t hold you back from playing as you can learn a lot and everyone is super nice.
The only thing should be improved is that to give at least 1-2 chances to everyone calling sick a last minute as it happens and happend to me, and give a refund. If someone fill my place then what’s the issue not to do that.
The communication by the organisers side isn’t the quickest but we can live with that I guess.

A low effort and ease of entry into competitive football.
This app has allowed me to continue my fitness goals and maintain my passion for football with low effort.
It has bridged the gap between finding friends to play football with and scheduling a day where we are all free.
It’s quite difficult to plan and organise a football match with friends esp at a competitive level with 10+ people.
If you’re looking for a good level of competition and low effort and ease in the planning and organisation of these events, foooty addicts is the app for you.
Footy addicts has bridged that gap and has memberships and discounts throughout the year that make it possible and affordable to play 2X a week.
If you’re worried about the players you are going to face, I can assure you everyone is friendly and welcoming. The attitude of players is very encouraging and if you make mistakes or your level is not the most competitive. That shouldn’t be a worry as they’re are levels for all individuals and each player encourages the players on his or her team.

Overall excellent experience over several years. My only suggestion would be an in app register for the game you are participating in- this would benefit all players and organisation of the session.

Really great app for finding football in cities. Only thing I would say is, smaller cities don't have organised football in it, it really is just major cities.

Great idea and lots of venues to choose…
Great idea and lots of venues to choose from. I would only say that there needs to be more opportunities or a clearer search criteria to accommodate over 30s, 40s and even 50s and 60s. I am 42 I can still play with young lads but it can be a struggle. I still want to play however when I'm in my 50s and even older and at present this company doesn't do enough to promote that. If I was in my 50s or 60s now I would not have many options using this site. Other than that, I love everything what the company stands for and it's an ideal way to keep people playing the game.

Mostly good but sometimes poor footballs, many players late, and loads of dropouts late on. Value for money? Only if the game starts on time. Nobody brings white. It is always black or dark colours. Bibs essential.

Thanks for the honest feedback, John. We know that late arrivals and last-minute dropouts can affect the flow of a game, and it’s something we’re actively working on. Sometimes delays are unavoidable for players, but we fully agree that improving reliability will make the experience better for everyone.
We’re currently developing a check-in and verification system that should help reduce no-shows and keep games running on time.
Regarding kit colours and bibs, you’re completely right. Organisers are encouraged to provide bibs, and players supporting the session by bringing the requested colour makes a big difference to team organisation.

The excellent organisation of the host and his reliability make every week an easy experience. He also tries to balance teams well and keeps an eye on the tone of language and any potentially aggressive play.
