Beware of dodgy sales tactics
There is a review from "El M" on 31st March 2025 which is very similar to the experience we have just had. The reply from FHS states "This certainly does not reflect how we operate or the values we hold as a company." however, 5 months on it seems not much has changed?
We had a sales person come to the door offering a no-obligation quote for 6 months. I'm usually very dubious but said that given he timeframe we would be interested. I did mention that it would be a long term project for us.
A few days later the sales person visited and I told him the same thing. Almost immediately he asked whether we would consider doing something sooner. I expressed doubts but explained i'd be interested in a price.
After measuring up, he was insistent that I give him my expected price first! I had no idea and gave a broad range. What followed was a long stream of numbers/options/payment arrangements all with a heavy pressure to get us to agree to something then and there. Like the other review we were quoted £2k for a door. I don't even know how many times we were asked "What about you just get the door done?"
I'm left with one quote that I can actually remember (just about) for thousands of pounds, scribbled on the back of their leaflet. Is this really how the company wishes to conduct itself?
I am a young man who is able to see through these techniques, but I am concerned for elderly or vulnerable people who may be more susceptible. I'd hate for my parents to have this experience, and that's what brings me to writing this review.

We categorically reject any suggestion that our sales practices are dishonest. All our appointments are completely free and there is no obligation to purchase. While we do sometimes offer promotions or incentives, the choice to proceed always rests entirely with the homeowner. Our team members are trained to explain products, outline benefits, and, yes, seek to secure business — that is the nature of a sales role — but always within professional and legal boundaries.
2. On the “no obligation quote for 6 months” and timing discussions:
When we provide a quotation, it is valid for a set period. However, part of our role is to explore whether a customer might wish to proceed sooner, especially if there are relevant offers available. This is not pressure — it is simply ensuring customers are aware of all options. The decision remains yours at all times.
3. On asking for your expected price first:
In some cases, our representatives ask customers for an approximate budget to help tailor product recommendations and avoid presenting unsuitable options. This is a common industry practice and is intended to save time, not to pressure.
4. On “streams of numbers” and “just get the door done” comments:
During a consultation, we provide multiple configurations, payment plans, and package options so customers can make an informed choice. We understand that a lot of information can sometimes feel overwhelming, but we believe transparency in showing the available options is better than withholding details.
5. On the £2,000 quotation:
A price in this range is in line with the fair market value for a high-quality, bespoke front door.
Our price includes:
A product that exceeds all current building regulations,
A Secured by Design specification as standard (an advanced police-preferred security standard that most competitors do not include),
Expert installation by our accredited and certified fitting team,
Precise measuring by our technical surveyor to ensure a perfect fit,
A 10-year independent, insurance-backed warranty,
An Assure Building Regulation compliance certificate to verify legal installation standards are met.
Considering these inclusions, we believe our pricing is competitive, and our products are superior in quality, durability, and security compared to standard offerings.
6. On quote presentation (“scribbled on the back of a leaflet”):
Our representatives often provide initial figures during the visit so customers can see the cost breakdown immediately, rather than waiting for a follow-up email. These on-the-spot notes are for quick reference, and a formal, detailed quotation can be provided upon request. This method allows customers to have the key information in their hands right away and is part of offering a transparent service.
7. On concerns for elderly or vulnerable customers:
We take such concerns extremely seriously. Our staff are trained to work respectfully with all customers, and we follow strict compliance guidelines, including cooling-off periods and consumer protection regulations. We welcome friends or family members being present during appointments for additional reassurance.
In conclusion, while we respect that our process may not have suited your preferences, we stand by the professionalism of our team and the value of our products. Solid job for new fascias/soffits/gutters and front door
Had new fascias, soffits and gutters replaced, which involved working on all 4 sides, along with a new front door. The crew were competent,diligent and were receptive to my comments: they were more than happy to fit a vent for an extractor fan I'm installing myself next, and they also freed up a sticking window when they replaced the pediment fascia above one of the windows that probably hadn't been able to open for years.
Communication with the company was good and I'm very happy with the results (love the new front door - much better than the old, broken one!)
There were a couple of things that stopped it being perfect, but they're entirely understandable: First up was that it took a couple of weeks for all of the scaffolding to come down (they took half down within a week, but couldn't get back for the rest for another week), but I was fully expecting this. Second thing was that there were quite a few nails and screws lying around after completion, but given I've got gravel on three sides of the house, they're near impossible to spot, so I'm not surprised. Both of these were things I was kinda expecting, so as long as you go in accepting the nature of having building work done, then the job's a good'un

Initial disappointing service remedied satisfactorily
We had fascia and guttering replaced last year. It was a drawn out process with delays over organising scaffolding.
Once work was completed it took a while for scaffolding to then be removed. During the work, part of the scaffolding equipment damaged our outdoor storage facility. There was a crack/hole made that allows rainwater to enter which defeats the purpose of outdoor storage. No mention was made that the damage had occurred and it was not noticed by us until some time later.
We had issues that one downpipe was not properly connected and water was gushing around the patio doors. They had to return to fix it and did so in a totally unprofessional way. It was not a smooth finish and it has taken until this year to realise that the line up of the downpipe does not allow rainfall to enter the water butt. The water would have to flow uphill to reach the butt!!
We had not been aware of the issue before this summer as it wasn't until the water supply finished that we realised it wasn't refilling. I contacted them to request their assistance in resolving this issue of their making. The downpipe is not in the same position as previously and sits further out from the wall and therefore not in alignment with the ground drainage either.
I have heard nothing from them.
Last year we contacted them several times to come and remove their advertising board. They never returned. This meant we had to take it to the local tip. This is hardly effective business practice and must result in them having to constantly order new advertising boards; neither economical nor environmentally sound practice.
As an update to this review I have been contacted by Fortuna with an apology and explanation of how these events came to pass. They have addressed all my concerns and offered to undertake any remedial work necessary. The customer service following this has been exemplary and I would not hesitate to use them again in the future after this small 'glitch'.

Just had all my doors and windows done by these guys. I’m really impressed, the price was really reasonable and actually best quote out of five I’d got. Loads of options to pick from, the guys were really friendly and kept me informed all the way. We had one issue with the wrong glass being fitted and they sorted it within the week no issues at all. Guys doing the work did a great job. When we had a small issue they came out the next day and made sure it was sorted and we were happy.
