A WORD OF WARNING!

My experience with this company turned out to both frustrating and expensive. I spoke to a lady from the company offering tax back on a claim I had made previously for PPI (same company but different name FRS and it worked well - easy process and I got my money less the fee). The claim would have been for a very low sum and to be honest I was encouraged to think of it as 'some money would be better than none' so accepted their fee on a 'no win, no fee' basis. After signing up to their terms of service I put it out of my mind. A while down the line I was contacted by Frederick Edwards and asked to contact HMRC because there was an 'existing claim blocking the way' (my words not theirs - the exact wording I can't remember, but hopefully you get the picture). Now to be honest, I couldn't really be bothered to do this. As I mentioned this claim was small and not really worth my time and effort. I later received an email to say this needed chasing up, a phone call and then more emails. As I said, for such a small return I didn't think it warranted my leg work (these claims are easily made by yourself if you have the time and inclination to do so). After a phone call which I was able to answer (outside work hours) it was explained that unless I contacted HMRC that I would be in breach of Terms of Service and liable to pay a fee. This prompted me into action and I called and failed several times to speak to HMRC. I got fed up and stopped trying. Over the course of a few months I continued to get phone calls (during my working hours) which I didn't answer and emails which I returned explaining my frustrations with contacting HMRC. The responses were clear in that they insisted I found this information. I dragged my heels more than a bit (as I said the claim was really small). I then received emails saying that I owed £200 +vat for services received. Having received no recompense I made complaint about the costs and did not 'pay up.' The current bill for defaulting on payments is now £379 and having had a proper conversation with a member of the team. I am aware that my 'non - cooperation' (their words) has resulted in my bill. As you can imagine I am in between a rock and a hard place, I signed to their terms and therefore I have little port of call to complaint. Their complaints procedure is only escalated to their managing director and it would appear to me that there is nowhere else to escalate my concern to. This company is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority as they are not a claims company. Regulated companies exist though and are listed on the FCA website. So my word of warning... make sure you are willing to do a bit of leg work before agreeing to make your claim, whether that be with Frederick Edwards or any other claims management or tax rebate firm.

As you are aware, your review above and the numerous emails you have sent to us over the last week, all confirm YOU didn't communicate with us when asked to which is why you were charged for not cooperating.
Most clients don't need to do any leg work on a claim but if we need additional information, that only you can provide, it is your responsibility to provide it. On this occasion you failed to provide it which is why you were charged.
Then you ignored our reminders which is why you've been charged additional fees.
Therefore, as you've admitted several times, it's not our fault, its yours as you didnt cooperate.
We look forward to receiving your payment to settle your account.

Took a bit longer than the 12 weeks…

Took a bit longer than the 12 weeks originally stated but that isn’t the company’s fault, I called for an update and was told that my claim hadn’t settled due to a backlog at HMRC.

Few weeks later I got a text from Frederick Edwards saying that my claim was successful. Happy days

Worst company on the planet stay well…

Worst company on the planet stay well clear . There’s lots of better companies than this one. Ive asked them not to contact me at least 10 times they just keep harassing you time after time and very rude! Just Google and find a better company. They will reply to this with a load of lies as of before .(beware)!

Brilliant service and staff

Completely forgot I signed up with this company and got a refund from HMRC months ago, didn’t think anything of it until I got an invoice from Fredrick Edwards.

I rang to see what the invoice was for and spoke to Lynn, she took me through the reason for the invoice and couldn’t have been more helpful. I’ve now paid the invoice and we’re all happy.

Would definitely use this company and recommend to my friends and family.

DO NOT USE.

DO NOT USE. They make it sound like you just have to provide some simple details. Then they wait ages to tell you they need more, but what they don't tell you is there is a deadline, so they cancel the claim and say YOU have to pay THEM £200 + VAT!!!!!! Which is possibly more than their commission for the claim in the first place. You do the math.

As a gesture of goodwill, we agreed to reduce the fee charged to £60 + VAT to help you so I fail to see what we've done wrong?

Avoid this company at all costs. Their communication is so bad it’s misleading, they change their minds and make the rules up as they go and they will charge you bucket loads of money for doing absolutely nothing for you. AVOID, AVOID,AVOID . £240 charge for them not letting me know there was a deadline BUT THEY WILL NOT TELL YOU THIS. Record ALL phone calls with them if you are using them. Charge reduced to £72 for cancellation fee…not sure who cancelled it, it wasn’t me. They will communicate poorly until they think you owe them money, then they will hound you with emails, phone calls and invoices. I paid £72 to be told they could not proceed with my claim. Awful company, feels like a scam.
Frederick Edwards, don’t bother responding to my review with your inane pathetic excuses. I have read everyone else’s’ reviews and had a very similar experience. What a lovely company you are….
AVOID, AVOID, AVOID unless you want to part with your hard earned cash for absolutely nothing. If you do, this is definitely the company for you!

It might be legal but certauinly not right - Avoid.

Following an advertisement I replied and gave permission for this company to try and claim back possible PPI funds.
OVER TWO years later they finally get back in touch telling me they have information the claim had already been settled, they then said I must contact HMRC to get information from them to confirm this.
I tried to call HMRC several times and despite being on hold each time for about half an hour did not get to speak to them.
They simply said it was tough, if you cannot provide the confirmation then you breach their terms and conditions.
Due to this Fredrick Edwards closed my claim and then issued a cancellation invoice for £60 + VAT.

Oh I am sure it is all above board and legal but it does not make it right, take my advice and go elsewhere - save yourself money.

I'm very confused by your review.
I'm sure you can appreciate that we cannot be held responsible for processing delays at HMRC, this is out of our control.
I can see that we have been trying to contact you since January and it's you that hasnt cooperated when we've asked you to do so so I'm unsure as to why this is our fault.
Also, on the last call we had with you, we didnt say 'tough', we advised you to call HMRC at a different time as their phone lines are usually less busy so you could obtain the information required.
As you didnt do this you have broken the terms you have agreed to but as a gesture of goodwill, we reduce your invoice to £60 + VAT so I feel we have been more than fair to you.

SCAMMERS - Avoid!!

Constantly harassed with phone calls and bully tactics. I found this very intimidating and upsetting and stated to one of the callers I suffered from my nerves. Now I’ve been sent an invoice for cancellation policy. This is the biggest SCAM going. I advise everyone to call Ofcom and report this harassment.

Spoke to a rep called Lynn. She clearly guided me through the entire process clearly. Even when I needed help in terms of issues with my bank. Her advice was excellent and has now allowed me to continue with my refund claim. Thanks Dave

Absolutely stressful all it constant phonecalls I have a brain injury and memory impairment due to epilepsy constant badgering now I have had an invoice to pay them £240 for breaking the contract I'm really worried about this and I don't no were to turn

Where's my money?

18 days ago, HMRC sent me a letter informing me that they've sent a cheque to this company, which is money for me. I still haven't received it.
This company are very quick to send threatening letters, but not, it seems, so quick to send you your money. I would strongly recommend you avoid using this company.

I would not give even 1 star had the…

I would not give even 1 star had the option been available. This Company cold calls you then the information they give is completely misleading.
When I was called well over a year ago I informed the caller that I could not be 100% sure I had not received any tax back re PPI claims, she replied "Well you have a lot of PPI payments on various loans etc its still worth pursuing as you could be owed a lot of money"
I then repeated that I was not sure if I had ever received tax back and she replied by listing all the PPI claims I had made. She said with all these it's STILL worth pursuing,
I then agreed, now over a year later after I HAD TO CALL THE TAX OFFICE 8 TIMES AT LEAST ON THEIR BEHALF, I have been informed my case has been closed and they are going to invoice me for 40% of a previous claim I made and received via another company.
This company does not give you correct information in their cold calls they just try to convince you you are owed a lot of money but do not inform you of possible consequences in fact they do the opposite by harassing you into agreeing.
I have asked for a copy of the original cold call, I doubt I will get it, then I will pursue further help.
Please avoid this company at all costs!!
THE CONTENTS IN MY REVIEW ARE 100% CORRECT!! As, I am completely sure that all the other NEGATIVE reviews are 100% correct and Frederick Edwards patronising replies show their complete rudeness to their clients.
It's VERY clear from 99% of the reviews on here that this company is nothing short of a Cowboy outfit and I will be recommending to EVERYONE I know NOT to deal with this Company. I will also be taking matters further. I am totally disgusted by the replies on here to both mine and everyone else's Complaints but after my experience I do not expect any better treatment.
Frederick Edwards need to either STOP cold calling people or train their Staff to give the correct information and not hassle people or try to coerce them by giving false information. EVERYTHING I was told in the initial cold call was completely false information yet when I asked for a copy of that phone call I was fobbed off by being told I have to log a complaint!! My phone call to discuss this issue was clearly a complaint but they just try to put you off by making you run round in circles. I have logged a complaint and, as yet, not had a reply...let's see how long they take to reply to me and I would like to bet I am told it is not possible to give me a copy of the phone call....again I advise STEER CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY

I have merely pointed out that we have done nothing wrong and stated that I will be proving this to you via email along with copies of the calls.
If we had done something wrong, we would apologise and put it right, but we haven't.
We have over 30,000 clients and 99% of them are happy so a handful of unauthorised reviews don't concern us.

Don't we have laws to put crooks like this out of business? They're a bunch of shysters and charlatans who bully and harass people into paying spurious fees, and should be prosecuted for fraud. Avoid them like the plague!

You entered into a legally binding contract with us & then sent us 3 emails telling us to leave you alone, after the cooling off period had expired.

We have tried to call you on numerous occasions to discuss the contract that you voluntarily signed and you have ignored all our phone messages we've left.

I suggest you go see a Lawyer who will confirm we have done nothing wrong and our contract is 100% enforceable as its you that hasnt fulfilled your legal obligations.

We're happy to re-open the agreement and waive the non cooperation invoice issued, but to do that, you need to call us and agree to cooperate.

The ball is completely in your court.

Maybe answer your phone rather than leaving incorrect reviews!!

In reply to the below message I have still not received anything back from you by email/post or phone call to confirm you’ve cancelled my claim and deleted my details from your system. You’ve said there in writing that someone would respond to my emails and nothing has happened. Are you waiting for the 14 days to be up so you can then try and cheat me out of some money!?
This is affecting my mental health but also just confirming what I was worried about in the first place that your company is one not to be trusted. Sort it out

I cannot believe that this company are…

I cannot believe that this company are sending me threatening emails to pay their spurious invoice despite the fact that we are awaiting information from my bank.
I cannot do anything to move the situation forwards and am so angry about the behaviour of this company.
Every time I get a threatening email I will post a damning review. Frederick Edwards you are a disgrace.
Keep away from this company.

Here we go again. This is a nasty and aggressive company who despite my asking them to understand my personal circumstances have continued to harass and bully me.
Living with a partner with blood cancer and being his only carer is exhausting.
I am so stressed I have now complained to the Financial ombudsman this morning after yet another demand for money.
