Working as a monitor with FullSpectrum Education in the Activate program has been one of the most rewarding experiences. Every day, I have the opportunity to see firsthand the positive impact we’re making in schools and in the lives of young people. It’s been great to help build confidence, encouraging teamwork, promoting healthy habits, and creating an environment where every student feels included and supported. Watching students who were once hesitant become engaged, smile, and believe in themselves is incredibly fulfilling.
What makes FullSpectrum Education special is its genuine commitment to making a difference. The team is passionate, supportive, and dedicated to helping children thrive both physically and emotionally. It’s inspiring to be part of an organization that values positive relationships and understands that even small moments of encouragement can have a lasting impact on a child’s life.
I’m proud to be part of the ACTIVATE program and grateful for the opportunity to contribute to something that helps shape happier, healthier, and more confident students. Seeing the joy, growth, and enthusiasm in the children reminds me every day why this work matters.

I work with the Activate program in a Mastery School in Cairns. The children range in ages from 9 to 15/16 yrs.
I have never had such a meaningful, rewarding experience with students and staff in 'the education system'.
Full Spectrum's Activate program is meeting the needs of everyday children - they have a voice, they are being listened to and we are responding with all sorts of techniques and programs to offer them another way to be.
The program honours the reality that not all children are the same... and that if they are met in a truly respectful way, and given the space, they all shine in one way or another. Not all children are academic and they are not meant to be.
Every week students tell me that they love school and love their teachers. I see the light in the eyes when they share that they feel better about themselves and that their grades are improving.
The Activate program meets the needs of the whole child/person. I highly recommend it. Students in the program are in the 'lived experience' of communicating and learning how important it is to open up and trust others when they need support ...such an important foundation for our communities.

Working with Full Spectrum has been one of the most rewarding experiences. It's amazing to watch students from all backgrounds grow in confidence, build resilience, overcome their fears, and achieve goals they once thought were out of reach.
Being part of the Activate Program means genuinely standing beside our students and supporting them every step of the way. Seeing their progress and witnessing the positive changes in their lives is incredibly fulfilling. I'm proud to be part of a team that truly cares about making a lasting difference for young people and their families.
My experiences as a FS employee
I was employed as a casual Educator with Full Spectrum since 2021. I found the administrative staff reasonable and understanding. Full Spectrum staff are always helpful and pleasant to work with.
A standout feature of Full spectrum is that they provide educational services to all students, regardless of year level, pathway or ability. Full Spectrum does their utmost to provide a specialist educator suited to the client needs.
I would certainly seek employment with Full Specrum again if my situation required.
Full Spectrum delivers
Full Spectrum delivers a cohesive, evidence based program that helps students thrive at school.
Fulfilling Experience
I have genuinely loved working as a student mentor. It is incredibly rewarding to build trusting relationships with students, support their confidence, and watch them grow both personally and socially. Every session is different, and I enjoy creating activities that help students develop resilience, teamwork, communication, and a more positive mindset. Being able to make even a small difference in a young person’s life is what makes this role so meaningful and enjoyable.

As a tutor and mentor with Full Spectrum Education, I can speak to what happens behind the scenes, and it reflects what families and schools experience out front. The educators are qualified and current, the lesson planning is genuinely individualised, and there’s a real ethos of supporting the whole student, not just their marks. What a lot of people don’t realise is that FSE goes well beyond tutoring, offering in-school mentorship and support programs that help students grow academically, socially, and emotionally right within their school environment. The team culture is collaborative and student-first, which makes a measurable difference in outcomes. FSE is doing meaningful work, and I’m proud to be part of it. Highly recommend for families and schools wanting more than surface-level support.
ACTIVATE program
As an ACTIVATE team member, I’ve found the Full Spectrum Education program to be an incredibly valuable resource for supporting students in both primary and secondary settings. The lesson plans are thoughtfully designed, developmentally appropriate, and provide a strong framework while still allowing flexibility to tailor discussions to each student’s individual needs, interests, and goals.
One of the greatest strengths of the program is its focus on practical life skills rather than purely academic outcomes. Topics such as communication, teamwork, resilience, organisation, confidence, employability, and post-school planning create meaningful conversations that students can genuinely apply to everyday life. The structured progression of topics helps students build self-awareness and confidence over time, while still allowing facilitators to adapt sessions to suit engagement levels and individual circumstances.
The resources have also made it easy to build rapport with students. Rather than feeling like traditional classroom lessons, the activities encourage reflection, discussion, and problem-solving, allowing students to take ownership of their learning. I’ve particularly appreciated that the program supports students with a wide range of abilities and aspirations—from Year 5 students developing social and emotional skills through to senior students exploring university, apprenticeships, employment, and future pathways.
Overall, Full Spectrum Education provides a well-rounded, engaging, and evidence-informed program that equips young people with the skills they need to succeed both in school and beyond. I would highly recommend it to schools and educators looking to foster confidence, resilience, independence, and future readiness in their students.

Being an Activate Mentor has been one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had.
The best part of the role is watching students grow in confidence, challenge their thinking, and begin to believe in themselves. Knowing that something you’ve shared or a conversation you’ve had could positively impact a young person’s future is incredibly special.
It’s more than just mentoring, it’s about building trust, creating a safe space, and giving students practical tools they’ll carry with them long after the program finishes.
The students have also had a huge impact on me. They remind me every week why this work matters and continue to teach me just as much as I hope I teach them.
I’m incredibly grateful to be part of a program that empowers young people and helps them realise their potential. It’s a role that is both meaningful and deeply rewarding.
Helping students make good decisions.
Hi. I am enjoying my journey as a teacher/tutor at FSE. I meet a wide range of students from year 4 to year 10. I work with them one on one. I find they engage enthusiastically and are attentive. Their confidence and willingness to share has certainly developed. One student in year 8 has a lot of home problems. He presented with much anger and resentment. Over time he has opened up about how he feels and why he has outbursts. We discussed the Stop, Think, Act, Reflect chart and what it means and how to apply it. We talked about the effects of his choices short term and long term. He listened thoughtfully. He had not considered the long term effects and outcomes, especially if he was expelled. We talked about triggers and better ways to handle situations. He said, Mum told me to pull my head in."
I suggested that Mum was right and that the strategies I gave him might help him do that. He agreed.
Working within the Full Spectrum… How much I’ve been loving it and grateful for the opportunity
Working within the Full Spectrum Education program has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I am genuinely grateful for the opportunity to be involved. Throughout my time in the program, I have had the privilege of building meaningful relationships with students, supporting them through challenges, and helping them develop both academically and personally. One of the most fulfilling aspects has been mentoring students over an extended period and witnessing their growth in confidence, engagement, emotional regulation, and overall wellbeing. Seeing students achieve positive outcomes, overcome obstacles, and make progress towards their goals has been both inspiring and motivating. The program has provided a unique opportunity to make a genuine difference in young people’s lives, and I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of their journey. I am extremely appreciative of the trust placed in me, the support of the school communities, and the chance to contribute to such a valuable and impactful program.
Making the struggles worthwhile
There are moments in this line of work that completely strip away the paperwork, the session plans, and the daily grind, reminding you exactly why you show up. This one time, one of those moments hit hard.
it was at an year level graduation event, when a parent walked up from across the room. You can usually tell when someone is carrying a heavy weight—it’s in the posture, the hesitant steps, the way they hold their breath. She walked over, and before she could even finish saying hello, her eyes filled with tears.
As an ACTIVATE leader, you prepare yourself for a lot of things. You prepare for resistance, for breakthroughs, for high energy, and for quiet days. But nothing quite prepares you for the raw vulnerability of a parent looking you in the eyes, tears streaming down their face, simply saying, "Thank you for giving me my child back."
She started sharing an anecdote that I’ll carry with me for a very long time. She talked about how, just a few months ago, their home felt like a constant battleground. Mornings were defined by screaming matches, afternoons by slammed doors, and evenings by an overwhelming, suffocating tension. She admitted, with a trembling voice, that she had reached a point where she dreaded coming home, feeling like she had utterly failed as a parent because she couldn't reach her own child.
But then, she noticed the shift.
It started small—a moment of pause where there used to be a flash of anger. A calm, spoken boundary instead of a door slammed shut. She told me about an incident earlier that week where a major trigger happened—the exact kind of frustration that used to trigger a weekend-long meltdown. Instead of exploding, the student took a breath, used one of the emotional regulation tools we practice, and walked through it with total composure.
Standing there in the quiet of the room, listening to her talk about the peace that has finally returned to their dinner table, it was impossible not to get emotional. To see a mother crying not from grief or exhaustion, but from sheer, unadulterated relief and gratitude, is incredibly humbling.
When we talk about "behavioral improvement" on paper or in program reports, it sounds so clinical. It looks like charts, data points, and checked boxes. But in reality? It looks like a family finally breathing a sigh of relief. It looks like a child discovering their own resilience, and a parent realizing they aren't alone in the trenches.
Moments like these are the beating heart of ACTIVATE. It’s a powerful reminder that the ripples of what we do in these sessions reach far beyond the classroom walls—they go straight into the homes and hearts of the people who love these kids the most. I am incredibly proud of this student's hard work, and profoundly grateful to be a part of this journey.
We highly recommend Full Spectrum Education !!
Full Spectrum Education has gone above and beyond in supporting our family. We’ll absolutely continue enrolling our kids in their program throughout their entire school journey.

I was thrilled to recently receive a Justin Hodges signed 2025 Broncos jersey through a school event supported by Full Spectrum Education — and what an amazing time to receive it with the Brisbane Broncos Premiership win this year! 🏉
While my personal interaction with Full Spectrum has been brief, the experience was genuinely positive and memorable. From the moment I met Ben Maher and received the jersey, I could see the care and enthusiasm this organisation brings to the school community.
The connection with Justin Hodges made the moment even more special. Not only is Justin a true Broncos legend — but he also gives back in a meaningful way off the field. Since retiring from professional rugby league, Justin has been involved in mentoring and community programs aimed at supporting young people, especially through wellbeing and school engagement initiatives.
I’ve also learned that Justin has played an ongoing role in school-based mentoring programs, inspiring students to set goals, stay engaged in their education, and unlock their potential.
Even though my daughter’s experience with Full Spectrum is just beginning, it’s clear to me that the organisation partners with passionate people who genuinely support students’ growth — both inside and outside the classroom. I’m happy to recommend Full Spectrum Education and look forward to seeing the continued impact they have on students and families.
Full Spectrum, great results for students, great place to work.
Full Spectrum has been a great been an incredibly supportive and fulfilling place to work, I've been with them since 2020. It’s a wonderful organization committed to making a real difference. Ben, Jonothon and the team truly cares about both tutors and students, and helping achieve goals. I’m grateful for the opportunities to make a real impact on students’ lives while feeling valued every every step of the way.
Great Tutor!
Tony really helped our year 12 son consolidate his learning in Physics and Methods and prepare well for his final exams. Tony was personable, prepared and great at understanding our son's strengths and weaknesses and instilling confidence in him.
Listened to the kids needs
Alex has listened to the individual needs of our children and provided us with the right tutors for each of them. Skyler has a great connection with each of our children and they have gained confidence and this has reflected on their individual progress this year. Steven is a magician in math and provided so much support for our son.
I’d like to extend my deepest gratitude…
I’d like to extend my deepest gratitude to Howard, my son’s tutor, for his unwavering support and dedication over the past four years. His thoughtful guidance has really helped our son grow and feel much more confident with English. We’ve been lucky to have him on this journey.
A sincere thank you to FSE as well for your invaluable support over the last five years. It has truly been appreciated.
