Je fais un petit avis en français pour les frenchies qui pourraient être intéressés.

J'ai ma Retroid pocket 4 pro depuis environ 1 mois et j'en suis super satisfait. Je l'ai reçue dans une boite bien protégée, la console est super belle et les finitions sont top.

En terme de performance ça fait tourner énormément de jeux. Je fais tourner de la gamecube et de la ps2 sans problème. Je m'en sers aussi pour jouer à certains de mes jeux steam en streaming.

Je n'ai absolument rien à redire sur cette console c'est le meilleur rapport qualité/prix que j'ai trouvé.

je lui met 5/5 sans problème.

It can play my childhood PS2 games on full FPS. You can also play Nintendo GameCube and Wii games.
It's not powerful enough to play Nintendo switch games with it, but you can play some 2010-2020 2D titles without problems.

It's powerful enough to play Dreamcast, PS1, PSP, NDS with graphic patches to have a better experience.

Con : You have to have a computer and learn how and where install Emulators, BIOs and ROMs (games). It's not made for playing directly when you open the box.
Con 2 : Triggers (L2, R2 buttons) was broke two weeks after I've received the RP4PRO. Retroid sent me another back plate who have new triggers pre-installed with a screwdriver for electronic components 👍

I've already bought 3 retroids and I've already sent messages, I've always received good service and I only have praise to say about this brand, the products are of quality, I recommend it and soon I'll buy new releases, I've become a fan

I have spent over $600 on Retroid products since 2020 and have a love/hate relationship with them. Here’s a brief overview of my experience.

The good - Price and specs

The bad - build quality, shady release periods, and shipping times

2020 - Bought the Retroid Pocket 2. The RP2+ was released and Retroid sold an “upgrade kit” for $80 which I installed myself. 6 months later, the original screen went out. To fix the screen will cost me almost $50 since the part comes from China.

2022 - Bought the Retroid Pocket 3 on release day. 4 months later, they released the RP3+ to the dismay of everyone who bought the RP3.

2023 - Bought the Retroid Pocket Flip on release day. The Flip was discontinued less than a year and had several build quality issues in which I had 2 issues. The first issue most people experienced was the hinge cracking. I contacted support thru Discord and was sent the part to put on. It wasn’t hard, but my replacement ended up being faulty so had to wait for another to be sent out. The other issue was the DPad. Support sent me a replacement, but they expect you to replace it yourself. This one was more challenging and I ended up breaking a ribbon cable by accident. I had to pay $8 for the cable and am in limbo until it arrives.

2023 - Bought the Retroid Pocket 2S. This has been my favorite Retroid device so far with no issues.

Just FYI - A friend of mine bought the RP4 Pro from my recommendation but the initial batch had trigger issues that are being resolved but you will have to repair yourself (which isn’t too bad).

Overall, the price and specs keep me in the running on purchasing their products, but their quality control is still not up to par. For that reason, it’s hard for me to keep recommending their products to friends, family, or myself.

were always Polite when talking to them via E-Mail. Were quickly when having Problems and their discord support is quite good aswell.
The Hardware quality has gone way up from a few years ago, I got the RP1 a few months after it released and have their newest one aswell.
shipping took quite long + the shippment then was very long (but of course the shipment from China to Germany takes time so this isn't their fault.) but it got sent properly without issues

Have bought several products from them and all were great quality! The one time I had an issue customer service was very fast and helpful!

Fair pricing, good shipping. Arrived fast and well packaged. Had to contact the support once and they helped me at once without any issues.

I bought Retroir Pocket Flip. A tad expensive but it was a fun device. Except that after less than a month, its heaphone jack startev to malfunction. It would only play one headphone and the device's speakers would continue playing.

I never sa a hardware failure like this. The internals usev must have been very cheap. I tried everything software-wise, It's a hardware issue. I even googled, and I wasn't the only one with this problem. But no workarounds exist.

Supposedly, it had warranty. But that'd involve sending the device back to China and then waiting for it to return and paying shipping and taxes all over again.

Got the rp3+ recently andddd personally I hate it, terrible layout and came damaged.

I just find the control layout very annoying and uncomfortable, I personally play a lot of games that use the sticks and triggers, so when placing my hands to reach both is very uncomfortable. The flat back gives no grip, uncomfortable to hold the device in general, it only feels ok to play on the rp3+ when resting the device and my hands on another surface for support, AKA it makes this handheld gaming device feel not so portable (ex. Playing on the bus, while standing, or laying on your back). People complain about the start/pause button placements but honestly it's the least offending placement on the device, it just takes time getting used to. Home button placement makes it forgettable and so the button feels useless honestly. Triggers feel too stiff. Sticks feel a bit too close to screen as well.
Most of these complaints would also propably apply to the rp4, layout and shape wise.

Was my first time with a layout and device shaped like this so I didn't know I would feel this way and dislike it this much.

Though I will say I was pleasantly surprised at what it could run, kept hearing that it couldn't run much GameCube but I hadn't been having many issues with GameCube games honestly (PAL ROMs) but the graphics are poop.

One thing I was very upset about was the screen coming damaged though, minor damage that can be ignored, but would need replacement to fix. Haven't contacted support yet so won't say anything more on that (mostly haven't yet because I think I'm just moving on from this device)

If you have a decent enough sort of recent android phone, chances are your phone is honestly better than the rp3+ at emulation and gaming.

Def won't get a retroid product again in the future unless big changes come.

Great comp and products, owned two of them!!

I am on my second retroid device. Had the RP3+ and now an RP4Pro. They are hands down the best emulation platform I have tried yet. I have anbernic devices, Raspberry Pi based devices and none of those come close to how polished the retroid devices feel. Excellent work guys. Keep it up!

Retroid is awesome!
I recently bought a retroid pocket 4 pro and that thing blew my mind! from nes to ps2 and gamecube that thing handles retro gaming really well! I bought a console, a grip and a case and the quality of all the products was outstanding!

The handhelds sold here are of solid quality. When there is a problem, typically found right after the release of a new device, the company does make it right. They stand by their devices and support users who may experience small issues. These are hobby devices though and the company does require you to troubleshoot a little though.

Great store, product was delayed but was a pre-order and goretroid communicated very well throughtout

The shipping was quick (3 weeks China to Europe),
The design and overall feel is really good.
Immediate interaction with the community and makers of this device.

All in all really happy with the way things are done, can't wait for the next release!

Great products and A+++ customer service. I bought many of the handhelds over the year and my daughter loves her handheld. I bought newer models when release and it was the first time I had an issue but customer service took care of it. I would continue to support Retroid because of the quality products and quality care for us consumers. Thank you for the many years to come!

Top notch customer service and products. My most recent experience involved having to get a refund which was handled in a timely fashion.
