I call in at the Buff pub in Orpington regularly, for a meal and a couple of pints. The staff are always welcoming and alert, the landlady is a gem and the food is first class.
They have regular entertainment, an active darts team and several TVs for sport. The place is quite big so you can always find a quiet space somewhere if you need it.
One of my favourite haunts.

I refer to the GORDON ARMS IN PETERBOROUGH. Won't be returning anymore visited on Sat 5th Feb 2022 ,total rubbish meal for the 4 of us ,service was good though .food cold ,5 small onion rings £2.67 . Nachos had no cheese on them again cold, brownie sundea ,chucked together what a mess. Greene king get your act together witherspoon pubs put you to shame. As yet no response from Greene king after complaining.

We went to the Glasshouse Pub (Jan 7th) for a lunchtime meal and found it very welcoming, clean, friendly staff (Andrea and Leanne were exceptional), excellent hot meals, well presented and superb value for money - scrumdiddlyumptious.
We will most certainly be returning

At the Maple Leaf on Covent Garden no food just turned the TVs off at 10:02 on a Sunday when they advertise NFL. Appalling. Avoid.

We booked our Christmas day dinner at the National Hunt as my wife works in the care industry and had 5 calls in the morning until 1330. We know the green king quality and we also know this pub and the Landlady with staff, they are a friendly bunch of people, there were three in our party, we were greeted with a shot of brandy and a warm welcome, thank you Faye, our food was brought promptly beginning of course with the starters and drinks, there was music, tv and a great atmosphere, main course soon followed which were delicious, thank you team, Faye and the staff were attentive, they made sure we had all we needed, I must say it was nice being waited on, thank you, folks, for also working Christmas day. Mince pies, coffee or tea followed which made the day complete. Thank you everyone at the National Hunt it was a great 2021.

Used Morden Brook, part of the Greene King group, for a "wake".
The staff apologised in advance for the long wait for the food due to the capacity that they had to cater for. The food was excellent, value for money and hot.
The establishment was conveniently located for our occasion and the staff, courteous throughout.
One of our party said it would have been nice if they played some background music.

Tap & Railway, West Moors. Having checked the web site prior to visit I was pleased with the range and variety of menu. Site said meals served 11 to 11 so arrived for lunch at 1130 only to be told, very politely food doesn't start until 12 noon. It was known the web site was wrong but hadn't managed to correct the mis-information. Not a good start but the 2 meals we eventually had tasty and well served, so we'll be going back - but after 12 noon!

Had a works drinks evening at the Woodmans in Peterborough. Even though it states 11 pm closing time, they called last orders at 9.45 . Stating lack of customers! There were about 12?of us still there! Shocking service , when you would assume they would be pleased with the custom in these Covid times

I went to the Hungry Horse in Darlington on Friday felt I'll ever since with food poisoning not sure I want to visit again

Booked for a Christmas lunch for 10 December, just two of us.I paid the deposit on line immediately. Asked me our food choices which I did and sent the email. Then I got another one asking the same thing, then two days later got another one! Then today got a call from the pub to ask for my choices again. Now I've just got another email asking me yet again for our food choices because apparently "the Elves" made a mistake. I don't know what to expect when we go next week, maybe 4 starters and mains each or they haven't even got us on their list! I pity anyone whose booked for Christmas Day if they can't even get a booking for two right without resending emails and ringing up. Pathetic!

Very poor experience trying to book a table at the linwood farm restaurant. I've emailed them, I've messaged them, I've tried to phone them about 20 times since yesterday & each time it goes to voice mail stating 'leave a message', then another voice comes in & states, 'mail box is full, you can't leave a message'. Finding the whole experience excruciating! Thing is I've tried to book a table for 16 on their online portal, but states I have to call them as it's over the limit for accepting online bookings. This is meant to be a family festive meal & I'm left wondering, why on earth would a company be so unfocused on customer service, especially during these challenging times. It seems as though they obviously don't need the business or customer service is that inadequate that they lose business... It's a lose, lose situation for both parties!

Having been to the Millhouse, Broughton, Nr Chester last Sunday 14th November for Sunday lunch, we ordered to Roast Beef Dinners, after waiting over 40 minutes and watching food orders appear for guests who had ordered after ourselves, our food finally arrived. It was lukewarm and very disappointing. We were informed that the food was been servied up as the staff member went to check on the progress. Maybe new hot plate may be in order as like I said the food was Luke warm. Very disappointed with the food and won’t be using again.

Went to Windmill Farm for Sunday Carvery, very disappointed been 3 times hoping they would improve, sorry, they haven’t, firstly you couldn’t do any damage with knives, they are blunt, the choice of meat is good, but the quality is poor, the Yorkshire Puds are ok, but the choice of veg is pretty poor, the gravy is good, the price is ok but personally I’d rather pay more and have a bit more quality. The staff are fine.

Been in a few times with my friend and the barmen always let's on as he knows us from another greene King pub. The service is great as the waiters/waitresses show the customers so much respect. The food is incredible. Will be returning

Visited the good companion pub in Portsmouth for a meal with my husband. The food was excellent and our waiter Will could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much of a problem and he could have not been more polite or attentive. Big thanks to Will for his fantastic service and we will be back!

Went to the Greswolde Arms near Solihull last night for a beer with a few friends. Nicely refurbished but the service was hopelessly slow. By about 9pm there were only about 20 people drinking in what is a huge bar. Despite the low numbers every time we went to get served there was a queue of at least four people waiting. All of the staff apart from the barman were under eighteen and couldn’t help and the restaurant drinks orders were taking priority over people waiting at the bar. I asked if the manager could help out for a bit and I was told he had much more important things to do. The staff were polite enough just not suitable for working in a pub. Give the place a miss until they sort it out.

I have just been ejected from the wacky warehouse at the new Florence in stoke on Trent.

No time limit was mentioned when we paid entry, there were no notices either.

After a short while I went to get more drinks and while I was away a member of staff approached out table and asked us to leave as our time is up.

My wife explained that I had just gone to fetch drinks and that no time limit was implied. The young girl replied "well like you've got like 1 minute your time is up.

Rude to say the least. This Venu Is clearly poorly managed and the staff don't seem to have any training. I will not be back.

I am currently standing in a cold entrance trying to finish my beer out of the rain..

Disgusting customer service

Went to the jingling gate pub on Stamfordham Road Newcastle last night, spent nearly £100 on food & drinks. When the fish & chips came, I had a couple of bites, then I realised one half of the fish was soggy & slimy, only the top half was cooked, obviously the frozen fish hadn't been turned over in the oven. Got offered a free dessert but I told them I couldn't stomach any more food, then gave me my £10.50 back. Been up all night being sick off an uncooked fish, not nice!!!
