I arrived to the rental office, having prepaid about $45 for a 2-day rental on Priceline. Green Motion first hustled me for an additional almost $90 in "mandatory" insurance due to the (very appropriate) limits on my personal Progressive Insurance policy. THEN... I was charged a $2000.00 deposit until the vehicle was returned. Had I not been transported to the car rental location by a shuttle bus, leaving me stranded and on a time-crunch if I declined the rental, I would have walked out right then. On the way back to return my car to the rental facility, their old location came up in my GPS. Due to the confusion, I ended up missing my return flight, resulting in the need to rent a car (from AVIS!) and drive almost 9 hours home due to having to be back for work. Seriously, this was the WORST rental experience EVER.

Only because zero or minus stars aren’t available. Ohh the one time I didn’t check reviews. Paid $27 online, took shuttle to theyre office then they want proof of my insurance and $2000 charged to my card for 3-5 days…. Hell no !!!!!

I made the mistake of renting from Green Motion because they had the car I needed at an affordable rate, even assuming I took the maximum insurance based on that recommendation through other negative reviews. I figured I would avoid the "double charging for minor scratches you didn't cause" by paying for the insurance and roadside assistance and everything would be fine. Then, I had an actual emergency, and fell victim to their systemic incompetence.
While I was sleeping on day 2 of 5 for my holiday rental, someone ran into my parked Green Motion vehicle and rendered it undriveable - the bumper was smashed into the wheel and the tire was punctured and flat. The driver who caused the accident was polite enough to knock on doors until they found me. This was roughly 9AM. I called to report it and had the reporting calls done by 10. I figured it would take 2-3 hours to resolve from there - not ideal, not the end of the world.
Except once the claim went in, nothing happened and I received hardly any communication or information. I had conversations with innumerable hapless staff at the "emergency" number, and one call from the rude manager of the branch I'd hired from, but no helpful information EXCEPT from their third party insurance provider who called at 5:30 PM (and confirmed they were having all kinds of issues with Green Motion - she seemed genuinely stunned by our saga). Green Motion staff claimed that two different individuals were handling my case and would reach out, they never did, and whenever I asked to be connected, I was told "they're on the other line". The manager refused to give me a phone number, telling me in an offended voice "I'm not giving you my cell" -- making it clear that my persistent request for a number that actually rang at their desk instead of the general line was not possible because they LITERALLY DON'T HAVE A PHONE AND DON'T WANT TO BE REACHED. The phone number online is an endless tree that always ends with "email us here" or "go to our website" - I tried every combination.
Despite promises that they would respond promptly to my emails and attempts to reach the "staff assigned to the case," I never once heard from Green Motion with any useful information about timing or how I would get back on the road. I was also told by the manager that it was "his discretion" whether I got a replacement car (again, don't forget that the car was parked when it was smashed - I had done literally nothing to create this problem), and he weaponized the idea that I would not get a vehicle from them if I was pushy, and that even if I did, I would have to pay the Excess waiver ($200+) a second time for the new vehicle because "that's how it works." And, he claimed I could only get the car if I rode in the tow truck (that they were refusing to give me information on who was dispatching or when) to Heathrow to get a new car, which I'd then receive "as a favor". At one point, they had me call Citroen to arrange recovery, who then routed me to Citroen's insurance provider, who confusedly told me "who are you, and why are you calling again? We don't work with random people - we work with companies."
Two more absurd details: in order to file the claim, you have to wait for a 2-page attachment to arrive via email (took 3+ hours), which can only be completed on a laptop, and requires a drawing and signature -- things that require a printer, which most tourists don't have.
After waiting 7 hours for literally any actionable information from Green Motion, I gave up - a friend drove me to Heathrow to rent a different car from a company qualified to rent you a vehicle. I was happy to spend $600 so I would never have to deal with Green Motion again. The damaged car, which sat on the side of the road all day with glass and plastic strewn about the street, was finally retrieved between 9 and 10PM, a full 12 hours after it was reported, and nobody followed up to say "hey we assume you need a new car when are you coming?" They also did not pick up the debris that was left behind.
The icing on the cake was this: on my way to work on Tuesday morning (the car was due back on Monday and I was back in the states), I received a call from an English phone number. "Hello sir, you were supposed to return your car yesterday - can you update us about what's going on and where the car is?"
There are other ridiculous details that I've omitted, but the takeaway is this: there is no way to characterize Green Motion's practices other than criminally negligent and grossly incompetent. The maximum insurance can't save you - they simply don't care about their customers, and you're making a mistake if you give them your business because they will do everything they can to ruin your holiday.

I will be adding to this review when I wake tomorrow, it’s currently 3.00am, and have just noticed a sum of $400 taken from my credit card for a buckled rim on my rental car (that I did NOT do) but that I pointed out to the employer that took delivery of the vehicle. He categorically stated that there would be no further charges as he could see that the vehicle went out in that condition! (Plastic wheel trims had not even a scratch on it) he even thanked me for pointing out the problem, Please take time to read reviews before renting from these scammers!!! I will be posting negative reviews on every website I possibly can, in order that this company doesn’t ruin anybody’s dream holiday!!!!
I would advise anyone renting a vehicle with plastic wheel trims, to remove all trims and check for wheel damage, I’m sure my rental car will go straight back out in the same condition, and they will steal another $400 from their next unlucky client! (Red Toyota Corolla) License Plate 59B XKE….
…. And not so much as a reply from them or this review? They obviously rely on ‘1st time customers’ as opposed to ‘returning customers’ DISGRACEFUL!!

Too many hidden fees constantly tried to upsell you on everything. Sold me insurance I didn't need and got charged way too many extras per their rental agreement.
It ended up costing me twice as much as I expected. I could have bought a used car for what they charge stay away from this business. Keep your wallet in your front pocket cause they'll probably try to grab that too.

We thought it was going to be an easy procedure until we arrived to pick up the car. The lady asked for my moms occupation, my mom then got rejected because she works for the military… we never got asked during payment online, so we were absolutely furious.. turns out it was in the terms and conditions…. Our mistake, but we never got our money back and had to rent a car elsewhere for double the price..
also, the lady said “yea, sorry.. we dont get the money as well so yea”. Not a very professional answer dont you think?

Rented a 12 pax van from Green Motion in Miami on 2 July. Paid $1045 online. When I get to the counter (location is about a 5 minutes away from the airport, not located with the rest of the car rental companies) they told me about insurance I had to purchase in addition to the rental. I have my own car insurance that is accepted by most car rental companies, but Green Motion would not accept. This brought my total to $1,175. Green motion then billed my cc $1,216, in addition to the $1,045 I paid online. I called their office and the lady who answered said there was nothing she could do adjust the incorrect payment and to remove the online payment. So at this point, I am now billed over $2,200. I called my bank to dispute the charge and also filed a claim with the BBB. I returned the van on 8 July, and Green Motion billed me an additional $156 for a cleaning fee due to beach sand being in the vehicle.

Less than 1 star if possible. Agreement says ALL MANDATORY FEES INCLUDED, but local office is charging for using own insurance, despite our was actually on list of insurances they had some agreement, second guy in office quickly removed this posters from customers view.They brought car with broken windshield, cracks hidden under wipers, serving guy didn't mentioned it, if I wouldn't notice, they would charge me for it later. Well first I want to say that I had to put one star or else it would not let me share. So my family and I are traveling from out of state and I had a reservation there, well not only were they rude and unprofessional but they don't care if you rent or not. I have insurance and I was going to go through mine then they said you need a declaration page never heard that when renting with a reputable company, then they say because you are using your insurance our basic insurance will cost you $150 mind you I had already paid for the rental. This was on top of that, it also requires a $350 deposit which then turned to $500 + $150 and I was renting a mid size car. Again this is on top of what I paid already for this car. They have so much paperwork to sign, am I buying a house? I did not stay there, it's a rip off, they are scamming people. I had to make another reservation with another company and pay for that and had to pay for a Uber to get there. The woman who answers the phone Tina is a delight, yeah right, horrible. Where did they get these agents? They need some customer service skills seriously. This company is horrible from A-Z. PLEASE DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!! While there many people were leaving not just me, and they were very upset. Oh and they have a code you have to scan and it's asking you for your password to your insurance website so they can check I did not do that. Who does that?? Again please don't go there check other places. Reputable companies do not do business like this. For your sanity and wallet don't do it.

They require the declaration page of your car insurance in order to pick the car up, which is a PITA. No other car rental company I've dealt with has ever asked for this. I did take a pic of my proof of insurance, which I don't even usually do because again I've never been asked for it. I rented a car to be picked up AT THE AIRPORT. Their site isn't even at the airport!! It's 10 minutes away! You have to stand out in the weather and wait for their shuttle. The name "Green Motion" indicated to me that there should be something eco-friendly about the company. They didn't even have a place for me to recycle my empty plastic water bottles. The car had a faulty gas gauge. The second day I had it the needle was past the "F" all the way at the bottom like it had just given up. I filled it up prior to returning it, but the gas gauge still measured half a tank. When I returned it I explained to the guy that the needle wasn't registering properly. He acted like he didn't believe me. He said he was going to take it to the gas station and check it. I wanted to go right then and there but he said no. Like THAT'S NOT SKETCHY!? They tried to push me to buy their insurance and their EZ Pass/SunPass with threats that they would charge me $25 for a violation. They didn't really seem to care whether I remained a customer or not so I'm opting to NOT use this company again. EVER.

PLEASE DO NOT BOOK HERE!! If you think their prices are too good to be true you're 200% RIGHT. They FORCE you take their insurance plans even though your insurance already covers EVERYTHING. Ended up paying more than TRIPLE the amount... Customer service was HORRIBLE too, they are rude and obviously don't care (you either pay the extra amount or they tell you to gtfo with 0 refund). And If you're a local they have other ways to money trap you too. Whoever is reading this, please save yourself some time, money and headache by just booking somewhere else. Worst experience I EVER had with a company, don't let them ruin your vacation, BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

Worse experience ever. How can Orbitz work with this company? I had already paid all fees and insurance via Orbitz in the US. When I got to Hermosillo, Sonora Mexico the office was a in a sketchy warehouse in the middle of nowhere with very rude employees. They proceded to demand $15000 pesos on top of what I had already paid through Orbitz. DO NOT use this rental car company.

Over 1.5 hour wait at the rental agency AFTER a 1.75 hour trip getting to this place... there is only 1 airport shuttle on the rout rhat you have to take which runs ecery 30min, guess what, it was too full to stip twice!! Then you have to get off at a connecting stop to get on another shuttle...no company shuttle, staff was very low and overworked, fees for everything. I travel often and will never rent from this rental agency again, and will advise others to pass by this brand if they see it (u-save or green motion). YOU SAVE NOTHING, all you do is lose hours of your time in getting to this place and then sitting in a run down waiting room. PS - The shuttle driver literally raced to the agency then got out and started to aggressively yell at some guy, i think he was an off duty employee, right away about him not being patient? Along with this, he threw my bag on the ground and continued to angrily argue with the other guy. HORRIBLE PLACE TO RENT A CAR FROM.

Don't trust the price you think you are paying. You will be charged more one way or another. In my case it is by forcing us to take insurance something I have never been FORCED to do before. Our $60 fee turned into an over $200 fee. You are not informed of this until you get to the counter of the Green Motion building which is a shuttle ride away from everyone and everything else (in Fort Lauderdale). Something like a $150 charge should be front and center but if you can find it, it is very much in the finer print of the fine print if you book from a third party. If you don't believe me google green motion or check their "rave" reviews on BBB.
