Website very user friendly. Unfortunately only found 1 of 2 components which l knew one of already. Found out another way and both are actually with the same company so why it didn’t find both not sure!

Dealing as executor trying to trace deceased investments. Same address for over 30 years. Gretel found one investment out of numerous ones that exist. The process was attritional. AVOID
EDIT: You asked for a review - I didn't just open Trustpilot and write a review. If you only deal with a few companies then you should make that clear to executors trying to trace the deceased investments. The deceased had numerous investments and your search only found one. Fortunately using other search mechanisms I have found plenty more. Maybe Gretel is just too niche at present.

We’re sorry to hear you feel this way, especially as our team supported you through the process and did help identify an investment. Gretel can only return results from providers who’ve chosen to share their data with us — if others aren’t participating yet, we can’t match them.
It’s also worth noting that Gretel is a completely free service, designed to make the process of finding lost accounts easier, not to replace every step an executor might need to take. Given that, we’re proud of the support we provided and disappointed to see a negative review.
Response to EDIT: Thank you for your follow-up. We do make clear in our FAQs that a search may not always return every result — either because a company isn’t yet partnered with Gretel or because there are no unclaimed assets under the details provided.
As a completely free service, Gretel automatically continues searching on your behalf, and you’ll be notified by email if any new entitlements are identified in future as more providers join our platform.
We appreciate your feedback and are glad you were ultimately able to locate additional investments using other methods. Gretel’s network is growing rapidly, and we’re confident coverage will continue to improve over time.

Thanks for your feedback. Gretel can only provide matches where companies have chosen to partner with us and share their data. If a provider isn’t yet participating — such as some of those you’ve listed — we won’t be able to return a result at this time.
That said, our coverage is expanding all the time as more organisations come on board. In the meantime, our Company Search tool (available from your dashboard) allows you to reach out directly to many providers not yet sharing their records through Gretel.

Gretel can only return results where financial institutions have chosen to share their data with us, so if no matches are showing, it means nothing has been identified yet — not that the service isn’t working. Once registered, Gretel keeps searching in the background and will notify you if a match is found as more providers join.
On the login side, please note that Gretel does not generate or store passwords — that’s handled by your own device or browser. If you experience any issues, our support team is always available to help you get back in.
Many customers have already been reunited with lost pensions and accounts, and our coverage continues to expand.

Absolutely brilliant
Absolutely brilliant. Was tearing my hair out trying to remember where my son's Jisa was now he's turned 18. I'd never have found it in a million years without this site that found it in seconds. (lovely surprise for him to find out he had nearly £3k!!) Do not give it a second thought and use it!!!

Been on this site for months with zero…
Been on this site for months with zero results. It seems the providers linked to this site are very few. Gretel recognised only one company. Email sent to said single company from Gretel but have heard nothing since. I started to test it by inputting various pension provider companies, none of which were recognised. At this point I will be looking at another service as this one is very disappointing.

Thanks for leaving feedback. Gretel can only match against providers we’re partnered with, and while our network is growing, not every company is yet included. Our Company Search tool helps you contact many major providers directly, but again, it doesn’t cover every firm on the market — something we’re actively working to expand.
Many customers have already reconnected with lost accounts through Gretel, and once your account is set up, it keeps searching in the background so you won’t miss future matches as coverage grows.
Very prompt and helpful customer service
We had problems with the identity confirmation system, but someone responded to my emails and telephoned very promptly to resolve the issue.
I was cautious about using the service, but it all seems to have worked very well.

Gave them a good amount of details I knew the company involved but couldn't interact with them online so gave Gretel my info and nothing. So I found time to ring the company and hey presto lost policy from 25 years ago was found in a few mins

Thanks for your feedback. Gretel works by searching data provided to us by financial institutions that are partnered with us. If a specific company isn’t yet sharing their records through Gretel, then unfortunately we wouldn’t be able to generate a match — regardless of how much detail you supplied.
That doesn’t mean the service isn’t effective: many people have successfully been reunited with long-lost accounts through Gretel, and we’ve received plenty of 5-star reviews from those customers. It simply means not all providers are on board yet. We are growing quickly, and more companies are joining all the time.
We’re glad you were able to find your policy, and we hope you’ll continue to keep Gretel running in the background for any future matches.

Our services are hosted via an AWS Premier Tier Services Partner, with real-time monitoring for any suspicious activity. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest using industry best-practice encryption protocols.
We understand how distressing fraud and unwanted contact can be, especially if you have previously experienced a stalking case.
While we cannot control external criminal activity that may target individuals from other sources, we can confirm there is no evidence to suggest your data with us has been exposed or compromised.

Still not one single match
About 9 months has passed since my last review and still not one single match despite Gretel having all my personal details and past addresses. I am starting to wonder if it’s just a smoke screen for selling personal details on to third parties. If I died tomorrow I am pretty sure my solicitor would trace all my old pensions as part of my estate and it wouldn’t take them over a year to do it, so what exactly is the point of this service?

To be clear, Gretel doesn’t claim to be able to find every lost account instantly. We search the data shared with us by financial institutions we’ve partnered with. If a company hasn’t joined us yet or hasn’t provided specific records, we won’t be able to return a match—no matter how complete your profile is.
That’s not a failure of the service; it’s a reflection of the fact that not all companies are participating yet. We’re growing quickly, and new providers are coming on board all the time. Once your account is set up, Gretel continues to search on your behalf in the background, and you’ll be notified by email if a match is ever found.
In the meantime, our Company Search feature allows you to contact many major institutions directly—particularly those that aren't yet sharing data with us. It’s available on your dashboard after registering.
We also want to highlight that many users have found lost accounts through Gretel, and we’ve received a number of 5-star reviews from people who’ve successfully reconnected with their money. It’s unfortunate that we haven’t found a match for you yet, but that doesn’t mean the system isn’t working—it just means the right data hasn’t come through yet.
Lastly, to address your concern directly: Gretel does not and will not sell your personal data. We exist solely to help people recover lost financial assets, and we take that mission—and your privacy—extremely seriously.

Didn't find it useful, particularly as it will only accept details of one person in the household when I wanted to search for myself. My husband registered in May 2024 and nothing. Tried to recently do a new one for myself but it just brought up old details of his and wouldn't let me put details in for myself.

Just to clarify, it's entirely possible for more than one person in a household to use our platform—but for security and data protection reasons, each individual must register separately using their own details. Attempting to reuse or combine with someone else’s account (even a partner’s) can cause the issues you described.
As for asset searches, our platform checks data provided by companies we’re directly partnered with. If a company hasn’t shared certain records or isn’t part of our network, that may explain why a match wasn’t found. This doesn’t mean the platform isn’t working—it simply reflects the current scope of our data partnerships.
We’re always working to improve the service and expand our coverage, and we encourage each user to register individually to get the most accurate results.
