I have paid for a EICR certificate with…
I have paid for a EICR certificate with this company but I have still not received it two weeks after. I don' understand why they ask for 6 to 7 working days to have the certificate issued but, anyway it has been 10 working days now and they have not replied to any attempts I made, to have the certificate sent over. I will contact the bank and ask them to stop the payment until they decide to replay.

I DON’T RECOMMEND using this company…
I DON’T RECOMMEND using this company for EICR or any electrical work.
First impressions during the visit to my property for an EICR – not good, the engineer was unprofessional and made me feel uncomfortable. He was entirely uncommunicative about the outcomes of the tests and telling me to just wait for the report. He also used what felt like alarmist tactics, implying the property would need extensive works without giving clear justification. Additionally, he made me feel quite uneasy by asking inappropriate personal questions about how much rent I pay for the property.
One week after the visit I received a request for more money because apparently the agreement was to check 8 circuits but it turns out that I have 13, and I need to pay for each additional circuit in order to get my report. And surprise surprise - the report was unsatisfactory and I was quoted several hundred pounds for remedial work.
Since I already had my suspicions about the company, I decided to call another engineer who did a much more thorough job on the property and sent me a satisfactory report the next day.
All in all, this company is unprofessional and unreliable and has caused me a lot of unnecessary stress and money.

Shady and unethical practices..
Shady and unethical practices... beware as they will pray on anyone who is not familiar with regulations.
After waiting a week, the report was not fully completed despite full access to the property. Then they quoted extra to come back and finish it. When questioned on the phone they lied and made up a serious earthing fault that didn't exist.
They don't follow standard industry guidelines (BPG4) - apparently they don't need to! so expect your installation to fail with little or no detail on the report so they can quote for hundreds of pounds of remedial work. (Bear in mind my electrics are completely standard and installed <10 years ago. No solar panels/EV charging points etc.)
Some of the remedial work was for "faults" that weren't even listed on the report.
Finally - Read all the small print - your fixed price "quote" will double before they will provide the certificate.
Update:
Sadly, a standard response from Hexo citing my disappointment at having a 'dangerous' installation instead of addressing their own practices.
I did have the house retested by a reputable and professional local firm who correctly passed the installation with appropriate recommendations/observations.
Max categorically and repeatedly told me on the phone and told me there was no earth bonding and the test result was "0"! Not only does this not make sense, it contradicts the report and is not true. There is also no evidence on the report that suggests that the oven needed the breaker downrated given the cable size and test results and metal consumer units and type A RCBOs are not required to be upgraded - the guidelines jointly published by Hexo's own trade body explicitly list these as examples to prevent this type of upselling!
Even if remedial work was required, the report would in no way be sufficient for any company to understand what is required.

We are sorry to read your review and are disappointed that this was your perception of your experience with us.
We categorically reject the suggestion that we engage in "shady" or unethical practices. As a specialist EICR company, all of our inspections are carried out in accordance with BS 7671, and our reports are reviewed before being issued to ensure they accurately reflect the condition of the installation.
Regarding the additional charge, our quotation was clearly based on an inspection of up to the number of circuits stated on your quotation. As explained before your appointment, and detailed on your quotation, booking confirmation and invoice, any additional circuits discovered during the inspection are chargeable due to the extra testing time required. This is not hidden in "small print" and is clearly communicated before the booking is confirmed.
With regard to the earthing issue, at no point did we invent or fabricate faults. Our engineers identified observations during the inspection based on the condition of the installation at the time of testing. Any remedial recommendations we make are supported by the findings of the inspection, and we maintain comprehensive records and evidence of our observations.
You also mention Best Practice Guide 4 (BPG4). As its name suggests, BPG4 is guidance intended to assist inspectors in exercising professional judgement; it is not a substitute for BS 7671, nor does it override an inspector's responsibility to code observations based on the specific installation being inspected. Every EICR requires the competent judgement of the inspecting engineer, taking into account the age, condition and safety of the installation.
Finally, our remedial quotation was produced solely to rectify the defects identified during the inspection and enable a satisfactory EICR certificate to be issued. We never oblige customers to use us for remedial works, and many customers choose to instruct their own electrician.
We appreciate that receiving an unsatisfactory EICR can be frustrating, particularly where remedial work is required. However, our responsibility is to accurately report any defects we identify and to prioritise electrical safety above all else. We stand by the findings of our inspection and wish you all the best moving forward.

Guys arrived late - they did not let me know but when I phoned the office they did then call me back and update me- was booked between 1-4pm and arrived about 4.40pm.
Testers friendly and polite and testing with 2 men only took 10 minutes.
Basically I knew a new consumer unit would be recommended but certificate read much worse than this as it it was more dangerous. Also suggested new smoke alarm when current one only a few months old and working fine- they quoted £120 to do this part of the work! Also mentioned bathroom socket.... there is none.

Firstly, we apologise for the delay in the engineer's arrival. Your appointment was booked within the 1–4pm window and arriving at approximately 4:40pm was later than expected. While we are pleased that our office was able to provide you with an update when you contacted us, we accept that you should ideally have been notified proactively. We will take this feedback on board.
We are also pleased to hear that you found our engineers friendly and polite.
Regarding the EICR findings, we would strongly disagree with the suggestion that our report was made to appear "worse" simply so that we could recommend additional work. An EICR is not a quotation for remedial works; it is an official assessment of the condition and safety of an electrical installation against the current requirements of BS 7671. If potentially dangerous defects are identified, our engineers have a professional responsibility to record them, regardless of whether the remedial work is subsequently carried out by HEXO or another contractor.
You mentioned that you already expected a new consumer unit to be recommended. The fact that this was anticipated does not influence the outcome of the inspection. If the existing consumer unit or its protective devices do not provide the appropriate level of protection required by the current standards, this must be recorded in the EICR.
With regard to the smoke alarm, our inspector could not determine whether it was in date or not. If we find during our remedial works that there is nothing wrong with the current device, we will not replace it and refund you the amount paid.
We have not mentioned anywhere a bathroom socket so we are unsure what you are referring to on this point.
Finally, we appreciate that a remedial quotation can be frustrating, particularly when several items are identified at the same time. However, customers are never required to instruct HEXO to carry out remedial works. The purpose of the EICR is to provide an independent assessment of the condition of the electrical installation, and customers are free to use any competent electrician to carry out any necessary remedial work.
We are sorry that the experience left you with the impression that the report was exaggerated to generate work. That is not how we operate, and we stand by the professional findings recorded during the inspection.

Hexo Electrical has great staff and their electrician Marius was diligent and friendly. He knows what he is doing and not waste time to chit chat or to look for excuses when part of the job is more difficult where we experienced an additional fault in the lighting. He went out of his way to isolate the issue and rectify it.

Delays, unanswered emails and phone calls
Booked to carry out a report prior to exchanging contracts which failed, Report produced very quickly and remedial works happened very quickly after. Then no certificate provided
after 10 days. After multiple phone calls, messages and emails I was lied to and said the certificate would be sent in 5-10 minutes which did not happen. I then received another phone call after I called them again to say more remedial work needs to be carried out at a cost of £400 which they have reduced from £500. I am extremely unhappy as this has yet again delayed our house exchange.

DO NOT BOOK! They are cheats trying to make money.
Its a new built house, build in 2019 and compliant but Hexo has issued unsatisfactory EICR without proper reasons just to make more money by carry on remedial work. We have many other house in same locality none of them have had their EICR fail as they used other companies.
At the time, I was clearly told that everything was “100% fine” and that I should expect a satisfactory report. However, I later received an “unsatisfactory” EICR with multiple issues flagged costing £££ to fix, including incorrect details about the age of the property.
Given that this is a modern building and have received satisfactory reports from different companies, I have serious doubts about the accuracy of the inspection.
Overall, this was a disappointing and concerning experience. I would advise others to proceed with caution.

You have two older type AC RCD protective devices in your fuse box.
These have been discredited since a change in the regulations in 2023.
You have residual DC currents in the installation produced by the appliances and LED lighting.
These DC currents have been proven to 'blind' these older RCD's and make them ineffective.
They need to be changed to type A RCD's
We have sent you images of the DC current reading and various typical appliances at the property.
DC currents are produced by:

• Fridge/freezers (inverter type)
• Induction hobs
