They weren't very responsive to my requests for technical help in a timely manner. The product works great once I was able to get it installed in an abnormal installation situation.

We were(until recently) a reseller of the Hilltopper kits. The products are fine. Our complaint is the way a recent interaction with customer service. It is not that they were unfriendly, but the way the situation was resolved left a bad taste in my mouth and my customer's. A customer purchased a Sprint 24 kit from us just under a year ago. He is a 90 year old man that put it on his 3 wheeler to go back and forth to his country club. It is kept inside and well taken care of. He was using it daily(very lightly)for rides of 6-8 miles. It recently stopped holding a charge. He is only getting about 4 miles per charge now. When I first filed the claim with Hilltopper, the response time was very slow. After a few emails, he said he was going to send us a charger in case that was the issue. After not hearing anything for weeks and not getting the charger, I sent a follow up email. The original person that I was talking with was no longer there. The new person was very quick to respond and was very friendly. So, why the 1 star rating? We were told that the battery was out of warranty because the warranty starts the day that we, the reseller, purchases the kit instead of the date the customer purchased it. The kit sat in a box until it sold. Maybe we are being irrational about this, but it seemed like the right thing to do would be to send a replacement battery at a discounted rate since it was under a year for the customer. Instead, we were told that we had to pay full price for a new battery, cable set, and charger. This may have been an anomaly, but we are unimpressed with the level of service we received. This was the one and only issue we have had with Hilltopper, so the problem is not with the product. We are disappointed with the resolution of this particular case. Take it for whatever it is worth.

The Hilltopper has changed my biking experience from just ok to wonderful. Instead of only going 1 to 2 miles a day I'm up to 12 to 15 miles a day. Hills are no longer an issue.

As I said when I returned it. U need 2 b able 2 lock on the throttle. Up a long hill where u need 2 keep power on a setting its not possible especially if u hit small bumps . A strong spring throttle doesn't work. Check out Swytch setup.

I am a 74-year-old retiree, ready for some fun! I have an awesome bike that I purchased 36 years ago and being able to keep the bike but make it new again was a miracle for me!

My wife and I have recumbent bikes, and have had them for almost 20 years. We ride almost every day. My wife recently had a knee replacement, and has had difficulty on some hills. We have researched E-bikes, and have decided to keep the comfort of of our old bikes. Hilltopper, seemed to be the best choice, so I bought (2) 20" Horizon kits. Since our bikes are quite different than most, mounting the battery bracket took a little longer than I expected, but not bad. Now we are loving the ride more than ever, and no hill has been a problem. Thanks Hilltopper!

There continue to be connection problems even though I upgraded to the Horizon from the Sprinter because I thought the connection problems would be solved in a more expensive model. I have to jiggle the junction where the wire from the battery meets the extension wire to even get power at all. When that finally happens it engages the motor to come on without even pressing the throttle which makes the whole thing difficult to control! There have been problems after problems in communicating with this company. They continue to advertise a customer service telephone number where no one answers the phone. . .ever. Nor will anyone return a call. Trying to get things done through email suffers delay after delay. They refuse to exchange defective parts even when I offer to pay up front and even when the kit is still under warrantee. Because of these problems both the Sprinter Kit and the Horizon Kit were (and are) inoperable for weeks and even months. They refuse to carry replacement parts for both models and claim you need to send in the defective part for them to test because they say to replace them they would have to remove the parts from full kits for sale. All this makes for more delay while your kit is still inoperable. This is not acceptable. They put the onus on you rather than taking responsibility for what appears to be not only defective parts but faulty engineering. I'm still having issues with them after more than a year of problems, delays, and excuses. They are congenial. . .but congeniality only goes so far. It appears they are trying to save money by not carrying replacement parts. I am not making up the following. They wouldn't even provide copies of keys for locking the battery. I finally had to go to a locksmith to find out which key to make the copy from and report back to them which one it was for them to tell other customers to make copies from when they could have easily done so themselves! I have never had so many problems with one company in my life!

The bike didn't work when I got it. Had it repaired something went wrong again. Bike is now in disrepair. To meny problems.

hilltopper helped with the installation installation in the shop for free and unscheduled when i discovered the fork dropouts needed adjustment (grinding) while i was attempting my own install. unexpected and very much appreciated!

I have been using my EV converted mountain bike at least 3 or 4 times a week for pleasure and workout. I'm relying on the EV parts as I am out of energy going uphill in Boulder Colorado. I am happy with the Hilltopper conversion kit on my mountain bike and it is working as I expected. By the way, it was easy to replace the flat tire in front of my mountain bike with the motor in front. I'm planning to convert my other bike to EV conversion too in a few months. Great job guys

The motor and other parts arrived in a timely fashion. Got it together easily enough and biking is a new experience.

I purchased my first Hilltopper kit in 2010 for my Adult Trike. It was so easy to install. I realized I made an awesome purchase within the first block of my first ride. Two years later, I wanted a different adult trike, so I simply uninstalled the kit on the old trike, and installed it on the new trike....SIMPLE AS PIE !!!! Last week, I upgraded my trike again (for the 4th time), and I also upgraded my Hilltopper kit, and purchased the Sprinter Kit. IT'S DYNAMITE!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!! I am now 71 years old, and because of this Hilltopper kit, I am now riding my trike as much as I rode my bike when I was a young, active kid...LOL Thank you Hilltopper. You add to the quality of my life in my old age.

Explained to dealer what I wanted installed on my used Schwin Trike. Just what I expected.

My conversion to a front drive ebike has been a success. I’m not much of a bike mechanic but it was easy.
The throttle ring was too small for my handlebar but I was able to wire it on vs using the screw.
Most disappointing was the tire it came with was flat.
I took the old one off the prior front wheel, which was a better tire anyway, but who wants to buy a flat tire?

We needed a brand new battery for our Hilltopper but we had the old water bottle style battery. Our representative at Hilltopper found one of the last ones available, tested it over the weekend to make sure it was in great shape because it was in the warehouse probably for a long while and sent it out in a timely manner. The battery is wonderful! We own two hilltoppers bike kits so far and it is an amazing product and at an affordable price point!

Wrote a five-star review when I first got the Hilltopper kit. Have enjoyed it now for a few months, and would definitely encourage anyone wishing to electrify their bike to purchase one. Easy to install, easy to use, and it makes an ordinary bicycle far more versatile and a lot more fun.
