SCAM ALERT – Smart Cover rebranded as Home Tree Services Ltd & Smart Cover DI Limited!
⚠️ DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!
I am a genuine customer (Ref: SMCOV785872) and was fraudulently charged £189 by Smart Cover DI Limited on 17th January 2025 — despite cancelling my boiler service policy last year via email and phone.
This company now trades under multiple aliases:
• Smart Cover DI Limited
• Smart Cover Insurance Services
• Home Tree Services Ltd London
• Hometree Marketplace Ltd
Lloyds Bank identified this as fraud and refunded me, only for the company to take the money again without consent!
They ignore all emails and calls — classic scam tactics!
Raise the issue with your bank’s fraud team, Action Fraud, and Martin Lewis!
Avoid at all costs!

However, we have confirmed with Hometree Home Cover that they've been in contact with you regarding your refund and making contact with SmartCover, and we hope that this matter will be resolved promptly and to your satisfaction.

They are an unreliable and most of their staff are rude
This company is a joke, when we applied for a new boiler which we got through Bambu, we thought we were buying it, but it turns out we are leasing it. We were not given the 16 day cooling off period and have had nothing but trouble ever since. Our yearly service is due in February, but every time we send a reminder to get this arranged they state that it isnt due until April. We have a battle every time we ask them for something and all we want is for the boiler to be regularly serviced at the time it is due. They are rude and obnoxious and their staff just want to tell us what to do rather than help with our query. As soon as we are able to pay it off we will do that and look for another company who looks after their customers as they aren't a good company to be with and I wouldn't recommend anyone gets a service from them.

When I got my boiler fitted I…600 hundred a year for a service every 18 months, the boiler has a 10 year warranty, 600 hundred a year for a service which takes 10 minutes, yes great value
When I got my boiler fitted I definitely give 5 stars, but 4 years paying you decided sell your house an you still owe nearly full price for boiler, payed over 2000 , please always read the small print, worse than a pay day loan

Hi Jackie, we’re so sorry to hear that you’re disappointed by the terms to end your plan. We dedicate a full page in our agreement to this, showing a table with the settlement amount to end the plan in each year of your chosen term, so it’s definitely not our intention to conceal this information from customers considering our plans.
According to MoneySuperMarket and Experian, the APRs of payday loans are in the region of 1,250% to 1,500%, which is well over 100 times more than the cost of spreading the cost of your boiler with the Heating Plan, so that option would be significantly more expensive. Your plan also includes servicing and maintenance of your boiler at no additional charge, which would not be included with a loan.
