How to facilitate virtual support groups was well organized and run.
I liked to program organization. It was very easy to access and utilize.
I paid for "managed" cloud server and got neither management nor service
I paid for "managed" cloud server, VPS, a fairly pricey option. When my site got hacked, I tried repeatedly to contact customer service for any sort of assistance at all. Twice, they simply closed the ticket without even bothering to look at my site -- I mean, the entire site was behaving bizarrely.
Finally a supervisor told me it looked like a DDoS attack, so I rerouted my IP and DNS through Cloudflare. No help, because it wasn't a DDoS.
I moved the site to another host, much cheaper, and they immediately identified the malware and isolated it. Like, a week later, Hostwinds sent me an email complaining that my site was phishing. The server there was not, by that point, even connected to the WWW!
When I cancelled my account and complained about "zero" customer service, they naturally blamed me. Apparently I am not qualified to have them manage my server.
They have replied that "After carefully reviewing your case, our support team identified malicious content on your server and promptly provided guidance on how to locate the affected files." Nonsense! They did nothing of the sort until *two weeks later* when I had given up and already obtained a new server host!
Really, there are so many good and helpful webhosts around, you might as well get a good one!

Support people have to read the entire sequence of tickets associated with a particular problem. More than 20 emails relating to the same request which is a VERY straight forward request, install Plesk. Lookiing at history does not seem to occur and support people are unaware of what has been done (or not done) so far. In some cases they may have to reach out directly to the customer. Just because things work for the support person doesn't mean it is working under the conditions of the customer. I keep getting the same response and respond to it and then get the same response again, appear to ignore whatever I said. Nothing gets resolved. Had a problem with remote desktop and upgrading my server which neither appears to have been resolved (I have the email with the error messages on trying to upgrade). I solved my remote desktop problem after NO recommendations from the support people. There is NO documentation about when plesk needs to be installed and there is buried documentation on what server size is needed. But the most import thing here is support people need to (RTP) read the problem and sometime will need to reach out to the customer in direct dialogue. Dialogue means everything.

I tried to cancel my service but the cancel button was greyed out so i couldn't. Went around in circles with tickets but gave up. Fortunately my credit card is frozen so i havent lost any money. It doesnt stop them from trying to charge every single day. I blocked their emails at this point since i got so frustrated with going around in circles
Edit after response. Where can I send the copies of the multiple tickets and your automated responses? Your comments below are just not true. I will attempt to call and also go in and cancel again

Well, I had my precious service renewed and as well made a successful purchase of a new service. Most likely I feel better I had all that done. thanks.
Signed up and had three sites migrated
Signed up and had three sites migrated. Continual technical issues from day one. Large number of support tickets. Each time they stated fixed, only to have additional issues. Finally cancelled after four months and requested a pro rated refund. Was told would only issue a credit. Laughable to think I would accept a credit and remain with Hostwinds. I signed with Hostinger and site migration was fast, seamless and without issues. Nice to no longer hassle with negligent tech specialists who are woefully deficient in wordpress. Noting the huge difference in the two providers, I contacted Hostwinds several additional times for a pro rated refund. Basically, they told me it is not possible. I think a pro rated refund is reasonable, particularly based on the sales my firm lost in site defects caused by incompetent, careless migration. Not happy with the outcome from Hostwinds. Since when is a credit considered a refund??? Very happy I went with Hostinger... What a profound difference. No more worries.

Signed up for service, provided necessary documents(Drivers licences, credit card, info, etc...) My Administrative assistant signed the form and submitted. Tech support responded that the signature did not match up with my drivers license, which is correct I had my Assistant sign it for me, I do own my own company. Resubmitted the form with my correct signature only to be turned down for fraud.

Moved my site from Hostgator because of their constant annoying spam re selling Sitelock etc.
After the move my site slowed so much as to be unusable. Page loads of 7s or longer when the same pages loaded in under 2s at Hostgator. Tried to get support to help, but they would look for the first reason not to delve any deeper. Told me it was my theme or a plugin ( WP). Removed all plugins and changed the theme, same result. So i gave up on wasting my time and moved to Bluehost. Since moving they have been great.
Great Plan, Support is Good, 24/7 but need mprovement
I hosted my few sites in the past years in Hostwinds. The hosting speed and support is great too. I rate this but it could have been more improvement and also the price, I think I save the price. For unlimited sites, you can really save at least 50$ per year.
