Title: Refused to review or take my property details

Immediately after I emailed House Buy Fast with a detailed PDF brochure, I received a telephone call from a representative named Chris, despite my email expressly stating that email was preferred initially.

Chris told me that company policy prevented him from downloading the brochure because I might be a scammer. I understand the need for reasonable security precautions, but he had obtained my contact details from that email and had called me. I therefore offered to provide all the relevant property details to him directly over the telephone. He refused to take them.

I also directed him to the property’s publicly accessible Matterport virtual tour through Google. He said that he could not find it, although I was able to locate it while we were speaking. When I again offered to give him the information verbally, he said words to the effect of, “It doesn’t matter; I’ll get what I need from elsewhere,” and brushed me off.

My concern is not the company’s security policy. It is that, after declining to open the brochure, its representative also refused the safe and straightforward alternative of taking the information directly from me.

I found Chris’s manner rude, abrasive and stand-offish. The interaction felt dismissive rather than like a genuine attempt to understand or assess my property, and it did not inspire confidence in the service. I chose not to proceed and consider this a fortunate early warning. Prospective sellers should be aware of my experience.

A lot of information given can’t complain

I was contacted by Jeff the MD of the company who seemed genuinely alarmed at the service I had received.
He agreed if I so choose to rip up the contract or alternatively try again changing some techniques and try to achieve a sale that both sides would be happy with.
This was the kind of service and professionalism I was seeking originally.

Firstly I want to thank Chris Lunson for his polite, friendly and helpful manner. I chose HBF for an easy sale as I wanted to move back to my parents due to health issues, and to be nearer. I didn’t want the hassle of potentially multiple viewings or not knowing exactly when the house would sell. As I wasn’t planning on buying another house, I was happy to take a lower than market offer in exchange for less stress. HBF also paid for my own solicitor, so there were no fees there. Selling your house this way isn’t for everyone, so please make your own mind up. If you want, or need, full market value - and that alone is debatable as a house is only worth what a buyer is willing to pay - then this service might not be for you. If, however, you are like me and are happy to sell lower for less stress then I would at least sound them out. Thanks again Chris for always answering my questions and being a pleasure to chat to.
