Ordered a tumble dryer online a week ago, my husband called the store on the same day to check when it could be collected, spoke to Noah who advised there was a pricing error on the item and that they were having a nightmare with the website however, we had already placed our order and had received confirmation he therefore, advised delivery should be the coming Wednesday. I called the store today as I have heard nothing, Spoke to Amy who couldn’t find my order, I asked if someone could please find my order, Amy advised no one available, I requested a call back when someone was available. I was called back shortly afterwards and spoken to very abruptly (didn’t get the guys name) and told that Noah had advised my husband pre-order that the item was out of stock, which is completely untrue. How could we order if it was out of stock and why would we? You couldn’t order it now for example, I’ve checked. No contact from the store in the meantime to advise that the dryer is out of stock/unavailable (a week has passed)they’ve waited for me to call today to chase. However, they have taken my money and abruptly advised that a refund won’t be completed for 7 working days. Bad attitude and rude too. First and last experience with this company. The price advertised was incorrect and now the company are clearly lying in order to prevent selling it at the reduced price that was advertised on their website. False advertising at best. I took photos of the advertised price showing the item as in stock, a photo of the order confirmation and of course I have an email confirming the order and that a member of staff will be in touch once in store for collection. Lies and rudeness are not good customer service.

Ordered a Freezer to be installed in the garage which was duly done. The following day I found a slight problem. On speaking to the owner of Herbert Todd the problem was quickly and satisfactorily resolved. Excellent customer service.

We chose Herbert Todd & Son to purchase a Rangemaster cooker based on their strong local reputation and our previous positive experiences with smaller purchases. Unfortunately, this experience has been very disappointing.
During an earlier visit, we were assisted by a staff member who did not appear to know the answers to our questions and, more concerningly, seemed to provide incorrect information rather than check. As a result, we had to leave and research key details ourselves before proceeding.
We placed our order with a confirmed delivery and installation date of 30th March. However, by that date the cooker had not even arrived with Herbert Todd, and we were only informed on the morning of delivery—after arranging our day around it. It later emerged the cooker had been expected the previous week but had not been checked. This basic failure in process, combined with poor communication, caused significant inconvenience and stress.
Attempts to resolve the issue have been equally frustrating. We were repeatedly promised updates “first thing” or “shortly after” specific times, but these calls were often not made. When raised, these commitments were not always acknowledged, further undermining confidence.
Rather than taking ownership, staff were often defensive and dismissive on the phone. While the manager, John, did work to resolve matters, his manner at times came across as defensive rather than supportive. Information provided was inconsistent, and responsibility was frequently deflected—blaming staff, internal systems, or Rangemaster—rather than being clearly owned.
We contacted Rangemaster directly and reached them immediately, contradicting suggestions they were difficult to contact. We also became aware of known supply issues with this model, which had not been clearly communicated to us.
We have now been told the cooker is ready and scheduled for delivery and installation on Wednesday, but this has required considerable chasing on our part.
A £250 Rangemaster voucher has been offered, but this does not reflect the time, inconvenience, and stress caused, and is of no value to us as we do not require further Rangemaster products.
While we have previously received good service from Herbert Todd on smaller purchases, this experience—particularly for a high-value item—has been very different. By comparison, we have received consistently excellent service from another Euronics retailer, which highlights how disappointing this has been.
We hope the installation now proceeds as planned, but based on our experience so far, we would be cautious about relying on Herbert Todd for complex or high-value purchases and would not use them again.
Delivery and installation of a new tumble dryer went perfectly despite working in a very confined area and having to relocate and reconnect the washing machine. It was not an easy task but the two young men accomplished it in a most professional manner and all done with cheerfulness. Superb service!

Popped in today for a toaster and also wanted to look for a coffee machine. None of the smeg products had a price label. After no sales people approached we went to the desk to find three staff Sat there. After asking for a price for the products on display we were told to look online, as they are all there! And also it depends what colour you want as the price varies on colour. As we couldn't get a signal we asked if they had wifi but no we were told to stand by the door as you will get a signal there. This was our cue to leave! We went to their rivals who rhythm with hurrys and spent £1000 on new appliances there. Such a shame as would of liked to support local business over big names. Unfortunately we will never return and will encourage friends and family not to bother too. The staff let you down big style.
Thanks for your reply, no prices were offered for any colour and the staff were quite happy to tell us to go outside and get the prices. At the time of typing I've still no idea of the prices you charge. I agree there are two sides to every story , I can assure you that my side is 100 % correct and maybe the other side is trying to cover for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Wanted to get another stoves oven as ours broke recently however after finding one and contacting the company to order I was informed that the stoves company is relocating overseas so I would not be able to purchase one until march 2025, which is too long to wait however I have since found one so just need to install it at the weekend , the representative of the company was very honest and up front regarding this make of ovens which is quite rare these days

I rang on Monday morning needing a new AEG hob to replace one broken by accident days before we were moving out and our buyers moving in. The team in Harrogate were extremely helpful and supplied and fitted a new one by Wednesday lunchtime. The price was competitive too. I will certainly use this family run business in future, as it was so much easier than dealing with the big companies or online suppliers.

Excellent customer service from John at York Branch. I popped in to look at washing machines as ours was on its last legs and whilst waiting for some help started browsing other products. I have had Fisher & Paykel for the last 18 years so happy to go with this brand again. Knowing we were having an extension the following year thought I would check out all appliances. John got me a great deal on washing machine, oven, microwave, hob, extractor and fridge freezer. Kept hold of them until we were ready for delivery. Arrived in good time for the fitting of the kitchen. Excellent service, much better than buying online.

The team are extremely knowledgeable about the different brands and went out of their way to find dimensions and answer all the questions we had. We ordered a fridge freezer for our new home and delivery was coordinated with our move date. Arrived on time. Delivered by two very polite and efficient people. We will be ordering our cooker when ready for it and would definitely recommend this company. There are not many companies that still exist and offer this level of service.
