We had our whole house rewired which took several weeks. We agreed a mutual time to move out and the work began. During our visits any snags were corrected and the work was tidied up at the end of each day. Even after finishing a minor issue was corrected promptly.
We were pleasantly surprised and would recommend this company to others.

We ideally wanted to find a family run appliance shop so if there were any issues it would be considerably easier to speak to someone to help rectify. With this we went to Herbert and Todd in Harrogate, where we were greeted by Dave. Dave was so helpful and honest. He didn’t push any specific brands, he went through every option and knew all the answers to any questions we had. Dave was also very understanding of our 2 year old child who has little patience and was running around.. basically being a 2 year old.. which also made us feel at ease and not in a rush to leave the shop. Because of Dave alone, we chose to buy the majority of our new appliances from Herbert Todd and trust his honest recommendations.
We did in fact visit the York store to simply view a quooker tap. Although the reception was pleasant, the knowledge or understanding wasn’t on par with Dave at Harrogate.
Since then we have had our appliances delivered and have actually had an issue, which is the manufacturers fault, I emailed Dave my concern and he responded in the same day and was straight onto it for me, it still isn’t rectified as of yet however Dave has kept me informed during the whole process. Regardless of the outcome, I will use Herbert and Todd everytime at Harrogate with Dave or Colin… spoken to Colin a few times, also super friendly and helpful!!
It’s difficult to find service like this anymore, we are so happy we decided to visit, thank you Dave!

Washing machine repair: phoned company and engineer came within 3hrs. Engineer was very friendly and efficient. Repair completed within 40mins. Excellent service.

Waiting for a cooker deliverThursday morning at 11:45phone i to find out when the delivery was, and informed that it was not on todays delivery sheet, having disconnected the old cook this was not good.
Also found out our cooker was EX-display we were told one was in stock (we took this to mean in the store not on the shop floor ex displays normally have a price reduction ) don’t know what would have happened had we not phone, we were. Not happy but stuck with no-cooker, Todd’s did rearrange delivery for the afternoon, (the delivery team were extremely helpful and efficient I would rate them 10 /10 )
Very disappointed with this purchase don’t think they will be on my list to use in the future.
Did refund the delivery cost
After reading the reply from Todd’s I would like to state that at no time did John the sales person say or indicate the cooker was the one on the shop floor, I agree he offered to order a box cooker after I phoned about non delivery but as we had already remove the old cooker we were a bit stuck so had little option but accept the cooker

I'm not happy with manufacturer that keep delaying in my cooker hood repair under warranty cover. Alice and store manager John provide me advise on how to deal with manufacturer and they also help me to get the repair process quicker. I will definitely recommend Herbert Todd & Son to my family and friends as their after sales service is good and they won't let you down to resolve any problem relate to your purchase at their store.

After washing machine failed on 29th December 2023 we visited Herbert Todd, had great help from the sales lady purchased a new machine and had it delivered installed and up and running within an hour.

We bought a double oven and had it fitted 09/12/2023 by an Electrician not by Herbert Todd as it was too long a wait. When I turned the oven on for the first time the fan started making a horrible noise. This noise got worse and worse. On the 11/12/2023 my husband rang Herbert Todd and explained what had happened. They said they would exchange the oven for us. They first asked my husband to return it to them, he said he couldn’t do that. They agreed to bring a new one in place of the damaged one. We asked them if they would not charge us for the cost of fitting and removal. But they refused as there contract with us was just for supply.
As we were sold a faulty oven we feel this is extremely unfair and they should have covered the costs as they sold us a faulty oven. All our White goods were from Herbert Todd. We will never buy from them again. Their customer service is non existent. We are absolutely disgusted at their service. In future we will use nationwide companies.

Herbert Todd and Son really cares about treating its customers well. First, the staff in the store were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful about choosing my stove. Then electricians came twice to my house before delivery to check and recheck the electrics after finding a defect in the wiring. And then, on the delivery day, while a gas fitter briskly dismantled the gas supply, two electricians worked very hard at the long, complex job of rewiring, which they did brilliantly, before installing the new cooker and removing the old one. I know I would not have received this level of service from an online retailer.

Writing this review on behalf of my friend and elderly neighbour who is unable to go on the Internet. She bought a new kitchen appliance from this local company, thinking a family business could be trusted but she had nothing but trouble from day one. Wrong item was delivered and couldn't be returned. Charging her extra and up selling add ons. Things such as cables that should come with the item. Expensive fees for delivery and installation and then refusing to replace/exchange unless extra fees are paid. Completely unreasonable and a rip off. Will be taking this further and seeking independent legal advice. She's been left with the wrong item and all these added charges for an appliance (wrongly advertised and not matching original description). She should be getting a replacement, exchange or her money back (full refund). Would not advise anyone to go there. Very disappointing experience.

Bought a second hand static and the TV developed a fault. Took it to Herbert Todd at Monks Cross. They analysed the fault within a day or two ( small fee). TV was uneconomic to repair. John help find another that was comparable and within our price range. Great friendly service. Thanks.

I approached them via email to install an induction hob bought elsewhere to replace an existing gas hob. This needed a new cable to be wired from the consumer unit through into the kitchen.
The quote was very reasonable, and critically co-ordinated trades to get a gas engineer to remove the old gas hob at the same time the new induction hob was being installed. The email replies were prompt once they got going (albeit I had to chase initially to get a quote). The contractors were on-time, friendly, and did their job well.
I will look at other services from this company as a result of such a good experience.

We bought a kitchen and all of the appliances from Herbert Todd. The service we received was excellent and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Adam was great and helped us to design the new layout of the kitchen to include everything on our wishlist and John was very helpful in sourcing us the appliances that we wanted. The kitchen was fitted by a Herbert Todd joiner and this was to a high standard. We would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking for a new kitchen. We love ours, thank you!!

We have an office in York that needed a dishwasher to be fitted. The problem was the kitchen was full of cupboards and there was no room and I'm trying to organise it all remotely. Herbert Todd & Son made everything so easy for me and organised the trades to all come in on the same day to make things easier. We now have a very happy office and a great job completed. More companies should work like this !!

I have just had the master bedroom upgraded with fitted cupboards, & the sitting room re-floored. I am really pleased with how both jobs turned out, from concept to completion. The cupboards are stunning & the quality of workmanship/fitting was excellent. I felt that my ideas were incorporated where possible, & I was included in all decisions. I also appreciated that the have relationships with other providers, for example carpets, which meant I could connect with trusted suppliers. Adam & Jason were a pleasure to work with & I am already planning the next job with them! Thank you!
