We're with others who don't appreciate being forced to give biometric and sensitive data to a private company in order to access Treasury Direct (a company that made big donation to Trump inaugural). There is a petition against forcing people to use ID.me at change.org , and at least one lawsuit. Treasury Direct has a statement saying that ID.me is a separate, non-government entity over which it has no control, including how ID.me handles your sensitive data!! ID.me gives little info on how they are using/storing/protecting our sensitive information from data breaches and abuse! On top of all that, apparently ID.me keeps your sensitive data for 3 years after you close your account! Furthermore, if you choose not to sign up for ID.me, you could end up not having timely access to the 1099 you need for filing taxes. For us, this outrageous debacle means no more buying bonds/treasuries on Treasury Direct.

They collect hundreds of millions of dollars of tax dollars and put people on hold for an hour or more. They can tell you one thing and you find out that is not working that way. Another example of how government is the worst way to try and get something done. Maybe we need Nick Shirley on the job?

Awful. Don't use unless you absolutely have to. Set aside up to an hour to get set up.

ID.me was easy to use and once successful you can access your Social Security, Tbill and other apps easily.
I would recommend it for all.

Found the entire process very lengthy and time consuming. Do not plan on doing anything but waiting for an enormous amount of time to most likely not even be able to obtain what you needed verified to obtain.

First, I was on hold for three days with no answer.
Second, the instructions are too hard to follow.

1.5 hours waiting for assistance. Third time trying- I kept getting booted off the wait line for help. Very poor tech assistance once I got someone. I figured out the problem myself- horrible experience

Totally out of my realm when it comes to computers. Took me over an hr just to figure out things because it kept expiring before I could figure out the next step. Very stressful. Plus dont really think think this survey is going to help anybody because it is what it is in this computer world. I'll get one of my grandkids to help me next time

ID-ME was easy to use. The process was easy to follow. It is a life saver because I had an issue with login.gov.

Unless you are extremely tech savvy do NOT attempt this. It assumes you have the skills to move back and forth from one function to another. Very very confusing and if I didn’t have an ibond I never would have done it.

Frankly I felt it was a embarrassment that they would put out such garbage

Hack of an organization. Not user friendly. No one to call when their system can't verify data. Don't waste your time if you can avoid it.

I’d mark it even a worse experience if there was room for that. My advice is not to even approach this venue

I wonder if, like other tech companies seem to have done, this company misjudged the deluge of users that would be signing up from Texas as soon as the process was offered. Maybe that was why so many people had a hard time getting all the way through the sign-up process for TDCJ. It was incredibly frustrating. Also, even if it had worked smoothly the first time, the process would still have been a huge hurdle for many older and tech-challenged people. Not user friendly,

I only set this up as it was required to log into Treasury website that I needed to access. Rather a cumbersome experience, sending the user from computer to phone and back again. The video selfie took several tries.

It's not clear why a privately held company has been given this gatekeeper function over government websites. Most of us have no choice, but it would be better to not use it if you can avoid it. There is no reason to trust this company.

This syetm needs time to mature and you really need to get more information out to the public about it. The American people and their trust for their Government is at an all time low! In my humble opinion. So much work to do to try and retsore the trust. Why would you expect anyone to trust this?

I dont know who or what this system is and dont like it. I especially dont like the facial recognition. If I have the option to bypass I mostly certainly will.

I felt I had to use it and it being the second time doing so, was okay with it. I don't interact with it often, but when I did it was easy enough and I accomplished my Medicare research and choice.

I enjoyed the different colors flashing while taking a selfie!

Be prepared to be very frustrated with this site. It took me all morning to to fill in information with the constant emails for verification and I still got caught up in a loop of the same questions when trying to toggle back and forth between email verifications and back to this site. I finally just gave up on it and got very little accomplished.
