I have no idea what ID.me is
I have no idea what ID.me even is nor why it was necessary for me to create an account. I was trying to log in to my retirement account with the state of Arizona which I have had for over 20 years and has always worked just fine. This process was complicated and seemed repetitive, and when I finally finished mine, we were unable to create one at all for my husband.
Way too hard to get support.
There no way to be more extremely dissatisfied! ID.ME is the gateway to me other sites and to have no way to effectively regain access to your account is extremely disappointing. No phone number, no human, no real chat feature. Roy is about the most unhelpful bot i have ever encountered. I put in 10+ request for help, went to your Facebook page, searched for a physical address and there's no way to contact y'all. That is nuts when you need an ID.ME account for so many things. I was blessed to finally have someone contact me and that's a shame. I get you guys are trying to cut costs, but Roy is NOT the answer. This was by far the worst experience I've ever had trying to get support. You guys are too important not to have a real way to get support. 1p thumbs down👎
Very kluge and difficult to use
Very kluge and difficult to get verified. Doesn't allow simple online upload of verification photos. Frequent error message and failure to process submissions. Doesn't seem to support Firefox browser. But apparently they have won a government contract that FORCES you to use this company for access to some federal websites. Our tax dollars being misused again!
It was an absolute nightmare
It was an absolute nightmare, taking me almost 5 hours to complete. The problem was that my cell phone is not from a major carrier. Eventually I had to check "I don't have a United States phone number" to get to a process where I could do a phone interview, but it took me HOURS and going to various different government websites to get to a link to do that, with the "help" being absolutely worthless. I hate the biometric stuff and it kept forgetting and making me redo photos over and over but I got past that part. I resent giving this data to a private company and having to agree to terms I do NOT in actuality agree with. It couldn't be more terrible. The chatbot and automated responses did NOT address my problem.
ID.me is a private company and the CEO contributed $100,000 to the Trump inaugural fund.
The experience of setting up my ID.me service was relatively easy. What I was not prepared for, and unhappy with was to find out that ID.me is a private company. The CEO - Blake Hall - contributed $100,000 to the Trump inauguration fund. The CEO of a company holding such large government contracts should not be contributing to the inaugural party for the incoming administration. This is unacceptable. I do not trust ID.me and YOU should not trust ID.me either.
Very difficult to use
Very difficult to use. After multiple attempts on different days and with different devices I was forced to ask the manager of my apartment complex for help using her computer. The main problem was getting my driver's license photo as well as my selfie accepted.

Forced to hand our id to a private company
Why are we being forced to give our identity information to a private company when login.gov already existed. Taxpayer data will now sold to anyone willing to pay for it. If not that, then it will be hacked soon enough. Taxpayers already paid to develop the login.gov system, and are now paying a second time for a worse system just to hand billions of dollars of our money to a private company with friends in the government. This is corruption. This is a disaster in the making.

Best government website that I have used.
The process takes a few minutes, but it is clear and the uploads and downloads are easy.
Video selfie never worked, video call was suspicious
After I uploaded my driver's license and provided my SSN, it asked me to take video selfie. I tried again and again and it didn't accept my video selfie. Then it directed me to a video call verification with a live agent. When I joined the live meeting, the meeting link was Google Meet. It totally looked like a phishing scam to me. I hanged up.

Duplicative and laborious
I already verified my info with id.me. And yet when I had to use I used my 2FA and STILL was required to provide duplicative information with glitchy screens and a poor user interface. Am being forced to use this process but do not recommend.
Ridiculously obtuse verification system.
A sticking point appears to be getting a selfie to match the photos on my DL and/or Passport. My DL photo and my Passport photo don't really closely match so i would not expect a selfie (using really weird software) would not match. Which then creates a verification problem. And yet facial recognition works very well when we travel. Why, why, why was this system created.
