We’ve now been living in our beautiful Regency-style home on the Whalley Manor development by L&Q Homes (formerly Laurus Homes) for just over eight weeks, and we couldn’t be happier. From start to finish, the entire buying process was an absolute pleasure, thanks to the exceptional support we received from Emily Sharples and Sinead Mann.
Emily, in particular, was a true star. She felt more like a friend than a sales representative – always approachable, warm, and genuinely committed to helping us through every stage. There was no pushy sales approach and, refreshingly, no pressure to pay extra for upgrades – a stark contrast to what happens on other developments.
As with any new build, we commissioned a snagging surveyor who picked up a few issues. However, the build quality was rated as excellent overall, and any concerns were addressed swiftly and professionally.
A huge thank you goes to Pete Wixted from Lovell Homes, who has been outstanding in ensuring everything was put right efficiently. He kept us informed and coordinated everything seamlessly. Every tradesperson who’s visited the house has been polite, professional, and a pleasure to deal with.
We’re genuinely delighted with our new home. It’s stylish, well-constructed, and located in a lovely setting. Our experience with L&Q Homes has been extremely positive, thanks to Emily’s personal touch, Sinead’s support, and Pete’s commitment to excellent aftercare. We would absolutely recommend the Whalley Manor development – and would strongly encourage all buyers to invest in a snagging survey to give peace of mind from the outset.

We have just bought our first home together from laurus in Preston. I have to say never in my life have I seen builds so shocking. To the sheer rushed job of our house... cutting corners everywhere.. and we have experienced no end of problems.since day 1 of moving in. As have numerous neighbours. Kitchen cupboard doors... 3 fell off in the first month. All drains completely blocked due to builders sweeping cement..rubble anything else they felt like down it. These backed up into our house and it stinks. The snagger we paid for.. thank god.. found 120 errors. 26 of which were major! The house has been rushed.. thrown together with no care for the owners and I would never ever reccomend anyone to get one. I'm not alone on this. I have been on. Numerous néw builds and this is literally the worst I have ever seen.

As first time buyers we were quite overwhelmed going into buying our home on Whalley Manor. But Emily and Sinead made everything so easy, and the process was faultless and we can’t thank them enough. Thank you.

Can’t explain enough how helpful, friendly & warm Mariann has been. We haven’t been the easiest of clients due to a couple of issues which has now been resolved. But still Mariann & also Luis has been very efficient dealing with this. Good communication skills. Mariann wants customers to be happy & try’s her best to get jobs finished off the way they should be she is very passionate about her role.

I met Heather couple months ago at the Laurus homes in Chorley and she helped me all the way throughout my process with a lot of professionalism and happiness. Everything went smooth and I finally got my first home !!!

The L&Q/Laurus development in Delamere is painful. The residents managed to organise some community meetings which were attended by the customer care manager and some project managers from L&Q (Laurus). All sorts of promises were made and I can tell you as a resident of Delamere that nothing has happened. I pity the people who bought there. The whole place has dragged the area down. The construction is very clearly rubbish and causing great anguish to so many people that I meet who unfortunately purchased properties there. I attended two meetings myself and heard all the things L&Q said they’d do and I can see its six months in and none of that has happened. Worst building company I’ve ever seen.

We have just recently purchased a house on the Hazelmere development.
The whole process with Laurus homes has been amazing, all thanks to Luis.
Luis has been so supportive and was more than happy to explain each step to us.

Hazelmere Property

Sales Advisor Luis has been absolutely brilliant from start to finish. Nothing has been too much trouble.
The property itself has a few minor issues but the aftersales team have already made contact to address this.
Overall the purchase has been largely stress free.

Saxon fields

Heather and Mariann are an absolute credit!! Nothing was too much , too silly to ask.
Very patient, understanding and full of advice because buying a home as you know is a very big decision.
Even with dealing with a lot of people and remembering everyone names all the details to each plot nothing was to much!

Heather and Mariann at the Saxon Fields site in Chorley went out of their way to answer all of my (sometimes silly!) questions and nothing was ever too much trouble. Well what can I say i have met the greatest n nicest people i have ever met , toni bradshaw aka( toni macaroni) n the lovely Olivia who have helped me so so much, so I wanted to buy a house and went to see toni and I had no idea about how this worked but toni put me at ease n said we will do it together which u don't normally get that kind of people nowa days but I had a hard time at first because I was buying on my own and juggling docs sending and legal jargon I was able to speak to toni macaroni when ever was convenient and this lady would sort it and get back to me ASAP explaining knowing I was panicking because I wanted this house , so every step of the way the team of toni macaroni n olive have been there , even nip in for a brew just to settle u its great , I am so happy I had toni n Olivia to help me , from an experience I heard was a nightmare was turned into making friends , we all even got sausage n egg buttys on completion day , I'm a happy boy with my new house and so is my lad , we thank you macaroni and Olivia ❤ luvz ya

… buyer beware- after sales repairs with L & Q poor - bath and shower problems (leaks) are common place on this site and L &Q are NOT interested and do not care about after sales service . Windows chipped/scratched - if you don’t scrutinise everything and report it within the first 7 days - forget it! They just want your money !
