Great Store

I got delivered my skates to México and it was like four days before scheduled. The price was fair and all the taxes were included before I purchased them so I didn’t have to pay any extra money. I highly recommend this amazing store specially if you live in another country.

Top notch

Just got back into skating after a 25+ year hiatus, and instantly remembered why I fell in love with "just rolling about" in the first place. Loco's videos reviewing frames, boots etc are absolutely top notch and their responses on email are genuinely from people who care. Cannot recommend these guys enough (though my Mrs may disagree due to all the Loco deliveries I am getting!)

Great service!

Amazing service and fast international delivery. I really appreciated the email explaining how rollerblades should fit, and their YouTube recommendation video helped me choose the right pair. Great company — I’ll definitely shop here again!

Good service, product didn't quite meet expectations

Everything to do with service was up to expected high quality. Sadly the part I bought, a replacement ankle strap, one component of it didn't fit as it was supposed to. Luckily for me it was the other part of the strap I needed to replace, so I was able to use that part of the old component, but it's sad that the hole in the fastener for the strap didn't line up correctly. I'd have to file it with a needle file to get it to fit.
Otherwise decent.

Ordering was easy, delivery was quick. Loco skates went above and beyond checking the warehouse for the specific colour of the model of skates I wanted and found some! Actual customer service which can be rare these days.

Hands down the best customer experience…

Hands down the best customer experience I’ve ever had ordering online,skates aside, period!!!! I’ve spent a fair bit wiht them recent, upgrading parts and new pad. Had some delivery issues, these things happen. What matters is comms and outcomes, and they smashed it.

Not only did they get my new orders back out rapidly, also incredibly flexible with returns and even upgraded me to better spec items + goodies! There’s a reason they’re number one in the UK.

AI marketing from Locoskates Was Very Disappointing

I just got a "marketing email" from the "founder and the ceo" of the company, and let me tell you, I have not seen a more AI email in my life.

You've got a great website, great products and good pricing, you could probably hire a couple of marketing interns at the very least, but instead, what you do is you ask AI to write you an email for the CEO to send out to all the fans of skating and that to me is just so wrong. Then when I call it out, I am told that the marketing emails might not be for everyone. While using AI.

My dude. They are for NO ONE, unless you also send them to other AI tools, in which case, they might be exactly the right kind of marketing.

Now Jake, the founder says that it was Harry, the head of Gen-Z marketer that made him send this email, in that case, I hope Harry gets fired, but since Harry is just an AI tool, I doubt that will happen. Want proof?

Here's one of the sentences in the email, it goes like this:

I’ve been skating since I was a kid. Not casually. Obsessively. The kind where you're out until it's dark

No you didn't. Stop lying. Stop making AI write your story. That's a fake story. If you don't have a real one, either don't send it, or close up shop. I'm done using their website.

Hey Anil - I’ve got to tell you; none of that email was Ai generated. (Not even the seemingly inconceivable story about how I used to stay out skating until dark!)

Actually, something really unusual and amazing happened after I sent it. We don’t usually receive replies to email campaigns, but in the last day and a half we’ve received 98 responses (and counting) from skaters all over the world sharing stories about their own skating journey. The majority were lengthy, detailed emails, several paragraphs long. It was just Harry and me in the office on Friday and we both enjoyed reading through the emails all day as they came through. Harry made me a PDF at the end of the day with all the emails combined so that I could keep it.

The whole strategy of that email was to show our relatability as a small business, but honestly; we were pretty perplexed at quite how much people were resonating (with the exception of you, apologies).

Anyway, I’ve pasted the email below for the benefit of Trustpilot readers. :-)


Hey [receiver]

I’m Jake. I run Loco Skates.

My friend Harry (our Head Of Gen-Z Style Marketing), made me write this. He says we have a genuine backstory that other shops don’t and that we’re “fully entering our relatabilty-maxing era”, or something.

So…

I’ve been skating since I was a kid. Not casually. Obsessively. The kind where you're out until it's dark, where you spend your lunch money on bearings, where your whole life orbits around which town you’re going to travel to skate next weekend and when the new copy of Skatermag is landing in WHSmith (yep, it was 1996!)

By 2002 I was British Aggressive Inline Champion. Deep in brand endorsements, (including K2 Skates) and involved in building brands of my own.

But how could I do this forever?

In 2004, I opened a skate shop. A small lock-up shop in Eastbourne with 80’s office-style carpet tiles and a changing room with a multi-coloured shower curtain. I ran some genuinely questionable magazine adverts and stocked some clothing lines I'd rather not talk about. I had no idea about retail, merchandising, marketing or numbers. I only knew about the skates.

Twenty two years later, we're still here. Bigger space. Better systems. Less carpet tiles.

We are small team of people who actually skate - Gaston, Harry, Max, Alex, Duncan, Panos - who come to work in a modern warehouse in Sussex that doubles as a walk-in shop, photo studio, dispatch centre and occasional skate spot.

People travel from all over the country to visit us. That still gets me, really.

Here's the thing about selling skates for a living: it never stops feeling like I’m secretly giving people a key to a whole new adventure. Every long conversation I have with a customer in the shop, every order that Alex tapes-up and every email Gaston answers is the potential for a new person to share the same journey.

That’s why I started Loco. Thats what keeps me feeling excited about it 20 years on.

I ran into one of my neighbours outside my house last week. Phyllis was in full tennis gear. We ended up talking about the decline of Squash. In all the talk of ‘dying sports’ it got me wondering if skating could ever become extinct… but it quickly occurred to me that that’s not possible. Humans will never grow tired of the feeling of inertia. They will always want wheels strapped to their feet in some form. Inline skates, Quad skates, self-driving ai skates from the future(?!). For every 80’s Dad quitting Squash a new Padel player arises! Skating is no different.

Humans skating, will absolutely go on forever and I’ll be planning to be part of that for as long as humanly possible.

Estoy muy contento de comprar con loco skate

Estoy muy contento porque llega a tiempo y bien cuidada la caja sin golpes ni nada malo, me gusta que la paquetería tiene un precio justo y que también ustedes pagan los impuestos aduanales ya que en otras tiendas cobran mas de 60 euros el envió aunque sea una compra mínima con un juego de baleros y las paqueterías de mi país son muy encajosas y excesivas al cobrar los taxes y con loco skate me dejo de preocupar por eso y solo disfruto mis productos, por cierto los patines esta super hermosos y de muy buena calidad, muchas gracias lo están haciendo muy bien, mejor que otras empresas, sigan así

Happy to sell stuff, but afte sales care is poor

All was good with the ordering and delivery, but I also ordered some protective pads. 
Rather than send them separately, they stuffed them in the skates which resulted in the plastic in the wrist protectors being bent. This maid that wrist protector really painful to wear to it was useless. 
I contacted them, they told me to send a photo which I did. 
Didn't hear anything back so had to chase it and then their response was to bend it back!! I'm not going to do that in case I break it and then where will i be??
I told them I'm not doing that and they just ignore me!
Happy to sell you stuff, but won't help if there's an issue!

Hi Phillip - Please be assured that your email was not ignored. Because you emailed over a bank holiday weekend the response time was a little longer than usual, apologies to keep you waiting. It's definitely not ideal for you to have to bend the wristguard back to shape. I could see why my colleague recommended this as an easy initial solution instead of having to wait for a replacement. However, we're always happy to replace an item if the easier 'fix first' option doesn't work. I can see that my colleague has already responded to your email earlier this morning to arrange replacement. :-)

Excellent shopping experience

Excellent shopping experience! I bought a set of Endless wheels (for a great price) from Loco Skates, and 7 days later they were on my doorstep in Australia! Amazing and highly recommended. Easy checkout, good communication and tracking info, and before I knew it, my wheels had arrived! Faster than others :)

Really good UK based company

Really good UK based company. I bought a frame set from them (FLT4 frames, 60mm wheels and 16 bearings.) I received them 2 days after ordering using standard shipping so it was really fast. There was a slight mishap where I received 64mm wheels instead of 60mm wheels. They rectified it instantly after contacting them about it, and sent the 60mm wheels out on 24hr delivery for free. I needed some laces too, and after paying they sent these out in the same package for me also, without charging shipping fees for them again. If I need anything else in the future I’ll 100% be using Loco only. Thanks!

After shopping for many many years online with loco skates and receiving fantastic advice I decided to take the three hour road trip to the physical store today and it did not disappoint. I obviously had to treat myself to some skates and again the customer service was fantastic.
