We have used Meowtel for several years how and always had a wonderful experience with their pet sitters. Most importantly, the Pet Sitters we have used (3 different ones so far) have been very reliable, punctual, and great with our cats. Furthermore, the platform gives us peace of mind that an alternative Pet Sitter will be arranged if something happens that prevents the one we booked to come to the house. We are very happy with the platform and their service providers.

Cat Sitter Review

I began my process with Meowtel a few weeks ago. I initially downloaded the app and answered a few questions, and then took a break for a bit to consider if it was the right choice for me. I’d been looking at a few other apps (such as Rover) and the experience sounded overwhelming. As a graduate student who recently left FT work that was emotionally demanding, I wasn’t sure I would be up for the pet-sitting experience I was reading about. Up until this point, I’d mostly done pet sitting for trade purposes with low-income families.

Ultimately, I circled back to Meowtel. I figured I should start with animals I know best (cats) and get a feel for what might be a less-trafficked app.

I was pleasantly surprised that they required a minimum of 2 references and a background check, as it signaled to me that the safety of the cats was being prioritized. It also made me think that cat parents would prefer the app over other options. I was shocked that there was a virtual interview, too — I’d never heard of something like that for apps such as these. It again increased my confidence in signing up with Meowtel.

The interview was brief but pleasant. I thought that I would need to wait a few days to hear back, but I was approved at the end of the interview. The interviewer then walked me through how to add photos and access my calendar on the app, which was a very kind addition.

All in all, from the time I became serious about the process to the time I received my first booking, the process took maybe 4-5 business days. Is this much longer than I anticipated? Yes. Does that bother me? Nope, not in the slightest. I’ve had enough life experience to know what people are capable of; making sure people feel comfortable and safe with me is very important to me! Knowing that I will be going in to these client relationships with safety already established eases me.

It did occur to me to wonder if the folks who are looking for cat sitters also had a background check or a virtual interview completed. I think having the option for folks to have this done in exchange for a check mark, or something to signal additional safety to a sitter, would be beneficial.

As of now, I have a few bookings in place for next week. We’ll see how it goes! So far I am enjoying/appreciating my experience.

I felt better after meeting Kelly before going on vacation. Kelly was great with Oslo and he enjoyed her company. I will recommend to friends and will use Kelly again.

It's easy to find pet care providers and reassuring to know that all providers have been carefully vetted. Our kitty has received wonderful care from the same provider on two separate occasions, and we've been extremely satisfied with her. Meowtel is great to work with to get the care that our pet needs.

Meowtel helped us secure a wonderful kitty sitter when we moved to a new area. She is absolutely great, and the Meowtel site makes it so easy for us to see her availability and book her time. We also have peace of mind that if she's unavailable (which hasn't happened yet), we can find a backup sitter on Meowtel.

Every visit is a 10/10. The care, love and companionship that Amy shows our babies is unmatched. We are so grateful for all of the detailed updates and pictures. Amy understands how much we miss and love our babies and she she does everything she can every visit to make sure we are well informed (she even tells them everyday how much we love and miss them). The playtime she ensures she gives them allows them to stay active while we are away. Amy is the best and definitely is something she loves. We could be more thankful for her.

Chelsea was patient beyond belief and very understanding when helping us get a new pet nanny set up with short notice during a busy holiday season. Our scheduled pet nanny had a change to her schedule, and that meant she wasn’t going to be available. I was PANICKING, but Chelsea sprung into action and made sure we got set up with complete coverage. Cannot say enough good things about this experience.

The company vets the people it hired and is insured just in case. The website was easy to use and found me THE NICEST Local Lady to come and watch my babies while my husband and I went out of town. One of our cats needed medicine (pills) so I really wanted to find someone with Vet experience. She was professional, great communicator, my cats loved her; I can’t say enough wonderful things about my sitter and our experience with Meowtel. Having a company you can trust is super rare so thank you for providing this service! Will use again, keep it up!!

Kristin from Meowtel provided my cats with quality care and kept in contact with me the whole time. I was able to enjoy my vacation because I trusted her and was not worried.

I adopted my cats in late 2019, and once the pandemic hit I was basically the only person they knew and they were used to having me around all the time, so four years later when I finally couldn't put off traveling any longer, I was super anxious about leaving them in someone else's care. I stumbled on Meowtel, and found the website easy to use and polished in a way that just made me feel like they knew what they were doing. The sitter profiles and reviews made them feel like real people, and Meowtel's protocol sits in the right place for me between standardized-for-accountability and flexible-for-my-own-needs, whereas a different service I considered had a key protocol that simply wouldn't work for my apartment building. I've hired two sitters through Meowtel, quite different from each other in personality, who were both great with my cats and very responsive with me. I have friends who would cat-sit for me and I get that that works best for plenty of people, but if a new cat owner asked me what they should do the next time they travel I would probably recommend Meowtel.

I tried to apply. I didn't know how rigorous the process was. I didn't see the warning and just started filling out the application .

My two detailed references where not professional enough and I decided not to ask someone else to do yet another reference. I also couldn't make the resume deadline because I was traveling. I couldn't access the sample resume, I don't have Linkedin. I don't have a resume ready because I had one job for 36 yrs and I am now retired. Be prepared to submit professional not personal references and have a resume ready.
Having 40 yrs experience with cats, fostering cats, able to pass a background check, and 3 years with TrustedHousesitters with 30 excellent reviews is not enough.

If you try to work with them - prepare to wait 1-2 months for an interview, and this interview is conducted by sneaky/snakey people who already decided if you fit or not before you even answer the 1st question.

Happy to leave them a 1 star review, they totally deserve it, and I will never change it.

I had a horrible experience with this predatory app. Payments are a nightmare. Unexpected charges and fees make it like you need a lawyer before using the app!

Bri was so wonderful with our 3 cats. She’s an experienced caregiver and I felt very comfortable leaving my cats in her care. This was such an easy experience and we will definitely be using Meowtel again.

Meowtel is a wonderful service. There is always a place or service for dogs but this is for cat lovers only. The sitter is professional, goes above and beyond and my cat sometimes likes her.

I recently went on vacation and had Charles come in for 5 days. He was wonderful with my, Sophia and went above and beyond to make her feel comfortable. The entire process was easy and the value was exceptional. I would recommend Meowtel, and specifically, Charles, to anyone. Great job and thank you!

The ease of using the app was a big plus for a first timer. The sitters they showed in my area were all great, very good bios. My sitter was wonderful. My cat is 19 yrs old and needs meds twice a day and she took care of everything. My daily communication with her was great, pictures & comments. Because of Meowtel and my pet sitter, I had a great, stress-free vacation.
