Millennium Hotels Globally Lack Professional Standards
A Consistent Pattern of Disappointment – Millennium Hotels Globally Lack Professional Standards
As an international conference organiser with over a decade of experience delivering high-level events across the UK, Europe, and the US, we have worked with hundreds of venues. Unfortunately, Millennium Hotels – including the Millennium Gloucester, the Copthorne Tara in London, and their Nashville property – continue to fall well below industry standards in service, professionalism, and operational reliability.
Millennium Gloucester Hotel, London
An agreement was made to hold our space on first option in February of 2025 for a major conference in November 2025. This was confirmed in writing and understood to be a secured first option – standard industry practice. Despite this, the hotel sold the space to another party without notifying us or offering us the right of first refusal.
While the Cromwell Suite itself is a functional event space, the hotel's team lacks the professionalism, communication skills, and strategic thinking required for long-term partnerships. We had previously stopped working with Millennium Hotels due to poor experiences but decided to give them a second chance. Sadly, that decision proved to be a mistake.
Copthorne Tara Hotel, London
From 2014 to 2022, we hosted numerous conferences at the Copthorne Tara. Pre-COVID, the operational team was excellent – we had known some of the staff for over a decade and appreciated their professionalism and support. However, following the pandemic, the service quality deteriorated dramatically. The experienced team left, and what replaced them was high staff turnover, poor communication, and a visible decline in operational standards, cleanliness, and support. Despite the hotel's competitive pricing, the value simply no longer exists due to these shortcomings.
Millennium Maxwell House, Nashville (USA)
Our experience in Nashville was unacceptable by any standard. Delegates reported cockroaches in rooms – including live insects found in beds. Food quality was poor and frequently undercooked, raising significant hygiene concerns. We reported these issues to the local authorities and sought compensation, but there was no one within the hotel or the broader Millennium organisation with the authority, professionalism, or even basic customer service skills to address the complaint. The entire experience was an embarrassment to us as organisers and to our attendees.
Final Assessment
Millennium Hotels may offer large conference spaces that initially seem appealing to event organisers, but this is where the value ends. In our experience, the group lacks the vision, training, leadership, and service ethos necessary to support professional events. Their failure to uphold basic industry practices and respect long-term clients makes them an unreliable partner in any region.
We strongly advise other conference organisers to exercise caution and consider alternative venues with better operational track records and a commitment to professional service.
The staff lie and the boss knows it !!
Room was pretty nice, but we had an issue with the fan in the bathroom, it would not go off, so we called reception and the guy said it will go off after 10 minutes or so, but it did not go off, so we spoke to reception again and the guy said nothing he can do as he was on his own and basically refused to come to the room, we finally got to sleep after a few hours but it stayed on all night, we can out of our room and the electrician onsite was there dnd we told him and he said he would make note of it, then as we went to the next level the housekeeping manager was there and we mentioned to him and he said I bet that was a pain, he said speak with the duty manager who was on reception and she basically said they are on all night, some are louder than others, we don’t know which ones are louder, we mentioned that we had spoken to the guy on reception the night before and that he would not come down to our room and she even said he was not on his own do could have popped to our room, basically it seems nobody knows that the fans are on all night, the staff will not come and help and refuse to come and help, they lie and say they are on there own to get out of coming, and after telling the lady duty manager all this she really did not want to know, she gave us an very lose apology and that was it, didn’t care that the staff had lied to us, I stay in loads of hotels every year and we were looking forward to a night here, if loud fans affect you sleeping do not stop here please!!
Breakfast - a disgust
Hotelrooms newly renovated.
Cot wasn't prepared as ordered,
Ridiculous we got charged $ 15.00 for a child under 1??
Breakfast buffet absolute joke, no fresh fruit, we had to ask. Baked beans looked disgusting, ham was clearly not fresh, discolored already. No fresh coffee provided (proper coffee had to be paid separately). Nobody bothered to clear the used plates or offering coffee.
At a charge of $ 44 / p absolutely overprized unacceptable.
Not happy = a good day starts with a fab breakfast.
Clearly ripping of tourists from overseas and New Zealanders.
FRAUD!!!
FRAUD!!!
Requested a cancellation - customer service is not very good, hard to contact to

SCAM : charged without authorisation
Booked a room from my friend at millennium hotel at Rotorua for one night , and the friend decided to stay for other night and they charged me 300nzd extra without my approval, went there to ask now they making excuses that that friend said different stories.
We stayed for a few days at the Copthorne Salford Quay.
We stayed for a few days at the Copthorne hotel in Salford Quay. The parking was good and the location really convenient for all the Salford Quay amenities, museums and Old Trafford. It Was also 5 minutes walk to the tram stop which took us to Manchester city centre. The hotel was very good, it was clean and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was excellent. Drinks at the bar were a little expensive but we enjoyed a complimentary drink from the hotel which came with our club room. I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I was in the area.
Simply not acceptable…
I stayed at the 4‑star Copthorne Hotel in Wellington, New Zealand in February 2025 and was ultimately very disappointed with my experience. Despite its 4‑star rating, several aspects of my stay left much to be desired.
Parking was a headache from the start—the hotel offers car parking, but the limited spaces were completely full upon my arrival, forcing me to park on the street. My room, supposedly on the 8th floor, was strangely positioned at street level, meaning I had people and cars literally outside my door.
Security was another concern. The balcony door wouldn’t lock, and given its old construction, I was worried about potential theft. Inside the room, the temperature was a sweltering 30°C on arrival and barely dropped below 26°C, despite many rooms in the hotel offering air conditioning. The room felt more like a sauna, compounded by the lack of proper ventilation and curtains left open in direct sunlight. A small fan was provided, but it made little difference, and I couldn’t leave the windows open overnight due to excessive noise.
Additionally, the carpet was old, stained, and uneven in several areas, contributing further to the overall discomfort. Reaching the room required navigating two sets of lifts, which could be problematic for anyone with mobility issues.
In summary, I wouldn’t stay another night at this hotel, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it—especially in hot weather or for guests with health concerns. The room conditions simply aren’t acceptable, and I felt it was money down the drain.
Copthorne Dubai - Deira
As long as you like waiting for absolutely everything you'll be fine! Told our rooms (2 rooms) would be ready by 11am. Gone half 12 we were told another 15 minutes. Bags were taken so unable to get changed from our UK clothes to suitable clothes - no offer of this, even after asking.
Not enough sunbeds for even half the people staying there.
I stood for a good 20 mins at the snack area / bar for water - no one ever came.
I will say the concierge are brilliant and cannot fault them.
Basic very boring breakfast - had much better.
Were not allowed breakfast on the morning of arrival even as apology for rooms not being ready we would still have been charged. waited 30 mins for bags to arrive to room.
No water put in rooms next morning for 1 room.
No Milk. Broken Kettle took 40-45 mins for replacement.
Very disappointing considering the cost.
Cold room
Cold room. Radiator only just warm. Reception said no one else has mentioned it. WRONG answer to a guest. However, nothing else materialised. Breakfast time when busy, staff did not seem to cope very well.
Chair in room, arm very loose.
Not impressed with dated hotel.
Mahi like the fish slays
Mahi, like the fish, slays, hannah a standalone talent, Abby who has been here all night, these girls at Copthorne Aberdeen gave our whole company a great night, cannot recommend highly enough 👌
Hotel at Chelsea football club,great…
Hotel at Chelsea football club, great for transport and reception staff when on reception polite. Room spacious tea coffee facilities good, but that's where good things end. Bins no liners, bins not emptied for our 4 day stay ( took pictures) 4 day rubbish left on departure. Bedding not changed for the 4 days in fact bed only tucked in sheets not even straightened. Toilet roll not replaced after 1st day ( bought our own) bathroom ceiling needs attention where leaking ceiling not painted over looks awful.I have contacted hotel by email on 2 occasions with no reply so this tells me about their commitment to customer service and welfare.only worthy of 2 stars for location and bus and rail links.1st time staying here and last a lot more cheaper places for the price. Very very disappointed with hotel and lack of after stay communication.
At best incompetent, at worst fraudulent
Stayed at Copthorne Salford Quays with work. Drab room with paper thin walls, I got woken up by the person next door’s alarm. I found a hair in my scrambled egg at breakfast. Worst thing was discovering they had debited £75 from my credit card after they insisted on taking a swipe for extras, which I didn’t and never intended to have, despite the fact that the cost of the room was covered by my work. They also couldn’t provide me with a GDPR privacy policy when I asked for it. At best their conduct is incompetent, at worst fraudulent.
Copthorne Tara hotel Kensington

Awful room. Tired. Shabby. Broken furniture. Uncomfortable bed. Terrible old lumpy pillows. Old foil lagged pipe exposed in room.

Copthorne Plymouth
Copthorne Plymouth - dated hotel extortionately priced, impossible to speak to the head office, enquiries made through contact form go ignored.
Save your money and go elsewhere
Great Hotels - shame about the service
Great hotels but trying to to book on app or deal with customer service is beyond frustrating.
App like many others has lower prices than desktop which is fantastic - if you can get app to work!! System goes through to payment page and then sits there when doing card authentication.
Gave up after trying 3 cards and over 2.5 hours of login attempts.
Rang reservations who said I needed front desk - the call kept disconnecting so went to bed after taking all screenshots etc and waited until the next morning.
I tried the app again but saying and product so rang front desk. They told me to send an email with screenshots to reservations. I did this and waited and waited and waited eventually at the end of the day I rang reservations who told me that the reservations email goes through to the front desk Felt like I was going round in a loop here but rang front desk again and again found calls completely disconnecting. Having stayed in their hotels previously they are fantastic beautiful rooms and lovely amenities however if you can’t book what is the point.
I hate to be negative and hate to leave bad reviews. I’d much rather praise people for the great job they do and the service received.
I’m very frustrated to say the least that I cannot spend my money with this company because they don’t seem to want to let me.
Update- hotel rang me 2 days later and let me book at app price which was great however the Hotel stay wasn’t.
When we stayed, the food was hit and miss and rooms dated compared to others they have.
I I paid in advance for two rooms but on checkout was charged for one after I had left.
Rang the next day and received apology and email promising refund.
12 days later no refund and no one answers emails or phone .
Frustrated is not the word !!!
Bad customer service
My family and I had a late check-in after visiting Legoland for two consecutive days. The reception did not welcome us as expected; they just gave us the keycard for the room without providing any instructions. They didn’t inform us that we needed to book pool access separately, and there were no welcome drinks that we were supposed to receive.
When we entered our room, the television was not working. They sent someone to fix it, and although it was initially repaired, it stopped working again in the middle of the night. When I called the receptionist, I was told they would try to fix it the next day since they didn't have in-house maintenance or even an on-call service, which is unacceptable for a large hotel lacking 24-hour service for such issues. The receptionist mentioned he would attempt to fix it himself, but if he couldn’t, it would be addressed the following day. This was frustrating as we were only staying overnight as an extension of our Legoland trip. I asked why they couldn't provide us with a room where all the amenities were functional. Eventually, they gave us a new room, but it had a broken phone and an old television that wasn’t a smart TV like the first one.
The next day, when we asked the receptionist for pool access, we discovered it should have been arranged during check-in and should have included two pool accesses for an overnight stay. We also learned that we had uncollected welcome drinks. However, at that time, alcohol was prohibited before a specific hour in the afternoon, leaving us with only juice or soft drinks as options. It was frustrating that they didn’t accommodate us properly due to their mistake.
The check-in time was supposed to be 2 PM, and the check-out was 11 AM. Overall, it was a bad experience for a first-time visit, as it can ruin your night if the hotel leaves you without options unless you explicitly ask for assistance. The receptionist and the manager that night didn't sound professional in dealing with these types of complaints, giving me an excuse like, "We don’t have control over the availability of maintenance. We are here to provide you with information, work our 8-hour shift, and go home." I will never recommend this hotel to anyone.
Terrible stay at dated and dirty Salford Copthorne
Booked my daughter (19) into this hotel where a course was being held. Was also considering a nearby premier inn. Booked in the website as it had an offer for free breakfast and parking and would mean she didn't need to eat outside the hotel by herself.
Upon arrival the free breakfast was no longer on the offer (despite us paying in advance), and logging into the system showed no breakfast.
The room was dated, dirty (long black hairs over the bathroom floor - my daughter is blond). The tv kept turning itself on during the night. Room service (which was advertised on the tv) was not available. Used food trays were left in the corridors for hours (there at lunchtime and still there at 4pm) despite housekeeping going past tray. In the 3 days she stayed housekeeping didn't visit her room. Receptions often didn't answer phone.
I contacted millennium via FB who gave me an email for the local manager who would deal with the issue, never had a response. Told millennium again on fb, guess what, no responce. Terrible hotel company.
Wished she'd have gone to premier inn
