I recently purchased the Minirig4 portable speaker as it seemed to be exactly what I was looking for for a number of uses. The web store was a little clunky to use, but my order was processed and the unit arrived within a few days well packaged and tracked.
It is very well built and attractive as a product, and the sound quality is good for detail, and it is extremely loud for its size. Unfortunately, all other aspects are average verging on poor.
One of the things I wished to use the unit for was for powering a usb powered audio interface, while also acting as a mono monitor using the aux input. This works really well... except that that there is a high-pitched whining sound introduced to the speaker output that seems to be caused by the power supply output from the Minirig interfering with its own amplifier. Effectively this makes it unfit for purpose because it introduces noise and dissonance into the output.
Another case I hoped to use it for was as a Bluetooth speaker for my phone about the house. This works fairly well, but the Bluetooth range and stability and latency are frankly awful compared to basic Bluetooth speakers I already own, operating in the same environment, it's a considerably worse user experience than a first generation basic Amazon echo for example, hardly a premium speaker, or even modern Bluetooth.
I tried all the troubleshooting and diagnostic steps I could for a couple of days but the problems were consistent.
My next thought was that the unit may be faulty and so I thought I would get in touch with the manufacturers. Here the situation moves from poor to awful. I filed a detailed report of the trouble I had been seeing using the feedback form on their website, but to my dismay submitting this merely results in a opaque status message displaying on the website, with no email or support ticket number generated to give any confidence at all that the information has been received.
After waiting a couple of days and seeing nothing but complete silence I thought I would try and use the live web chat that they mention on their support page as being active between nine and five during working hours. When I tried it during those hours, I could not find any way to locate or activate a live chat feature. I tried multiple web browsers and debugging the source of the page. The description says use the chat on bottom right but the link on the bottom right just operates the shopping cart feature.
After web searching a little, I did see that they seem to respond to negative trustpilot reviews, where they offer an email address to get in touch to resolve problems. So I sent a request for a refund and explanation about how to cancel the purchase and return the goods to this email address earlier on today. Having waited all day to see if this elicited any kind of acknowledgement or response and again received nothing, I decided I had better bring it to trustpilot myself, and my next move will be escalating it with my bank to reverse the purchase.
I think the concept behind the Minirig is great. The feature set is fantastic, and I love the idea of a UK based company dedicated to providing a quality product. Well in my experience, unfortunately they do not provide a quality product, and their customer purchase support falls shockingly below the level that one ought to expect for a consumer purchase with a price that positions it into a quality bracket significantly higher than the market average. The faults are disappointing but the lack of any responsive avenue for addressing them is unacceptable.
I would recommend that you only consider buying devices from this company if you can collect them from a physical store and agree a return policy at the point of purchase.

The quality of the speakers is good, I won't say more than that because when you've spent £500 on portable speakers you would expect something amazing, that will last.
In sumnary, avoid paying crazy money for Minirig speakers, cheaper alternatives are MUCH better.

The connecting of these things despite the price tag, has caused me multiple rage sessions lol. The first soeakers nesrly 2 years old going strong, used 4 hours a day daily. New ones about 9 months old.
Overall, these products are incredible, industry leading for audiophiles, but by golly, getting them to connect, not lose sync, or behave is like fighting a cougar with a toothbrush. You wont win

Worst experience with a portable speaker, despite that I dealt with many.
After about two weeks of use, the device stopped working.
The support was trying to help me but we couldn’t fix the problem remotely.
I have to send it back with UPS but from Thailand to the U.K. it’s problematic.
The UPS system doesn’t accept the address.
I would recommend anyone to avoid this product.
It has been two months since the device doesn’t work.
Excellent support team, love the mini rig 4s, game changing subwoofer 4, while the sub 3 is still awesome, I greatly enjoy these speakers

Repped minirig for awhile but my opinion dropped alot upon expanding my collection of gen 3 to stereo+sub and seeing how poorly the app handles more than 2 speakers, the frustrating 50hz floor on the sub and the lack of low pass on the minirigs when paired with a sub.
Seeing them release gen4 with such poor backwards compatibility turned that opinion negative and to deep dislike on seeing them actively address gen 3's issues in a gen 4 exclusive app instead of improving their previous poor efforts. No loyalty to the custom base who've supported them that far, corpo behaviour ill fitting the indie company I chose to support. No tradeins, they'll care if you drop another 500 I guess. Regret every purchase and shall not make another. Advise purchasing from a more experienced corporation.

Bought a Minirig 2. Loved it.
A couple of years later upgraded to the Minirig 3 bundle - 2 speakers and the subwoofer. LOVE THEM EVEN MORE!
After hearing how good our Minirigs sound, friends have also bought them.
I recently had trouble connecting (faulty AUX cable was to blame) and the help I received from both Elli and Rachal at Minirigs was amazing.
A couple of years ago, I dropped my Minirig 2 and it stopped working. Sent it back to Bristol and it was repaired super quick. Try getting a 4-year-old speaker repaired by a brand that makes their speakers in the China - it's not going to happen.
So I highly recommend Minirigs.
Bought a mini rig for my hubbys birthday.
Anyway, got my hubby this, it started playing up, when playing music the music cuts out and a horrible buzzing noise replaces it.
I contacted Mini rig and they said it is the phone. However, we have tried my phone his phone friends phones, the same happens, all these phone work fins on my cheaper JBL!
My hubby wanted this to support a local business, but after thier crap goods, crap customer service and price tag, I'll take my business elsewhere.
Shame on you minirig, this is not how Bristol companies should behave, you should make high quality equipment and look after your clients..😞

Firstly, the speakers are exceptional, especially for the size. The sound quality is top notch and it's survived multiple hard drops. Secondly, the battery life is amazing and in 7 years there's not been any noticeable degradation. And thirdly, customer service is exemplary - after 4 years of daily use my speaker stopped charging; I I contacted them and they resolved the issue on the same day and issued a free replacement charger. 3 years later, the same charging problem came back - any other company would likely have told me it's out of warranty, but not these guys - another replacement cable is being sent to me free of charge! I would (and do!) recommend Minirig to anyone. No doubt my well-used speaker will die some day, and I will have no hesitation in choosing the same brand again.
Receive the Minirig 4 Red bundle as present, the speakers and sub look fantastic in red. As an already owner of a minirig 2 speaker, I was hoping for a lot and I got a lot. The 2 speakers were easy to pair to give stereo effect and sounded great. Then I connected in the sub and wow the sound was fantastic. The best position is to have the system lower than ear level if you can. I thoroughly recommend this system.

I’ve been using Minirig speakers for over 13 years now — since the very first generation — and I can honestly say they’re still one of the best audio investments I’ve ever made. The sound quality is absolutely insane for their size: clear, punchy, and full of depth whether you’re indoors, outdoors, or throwing together a DIY festival rig.
The build quality has always been top-tier — solid, compact, and engineered to last. While I’ve noticed a few small reliability issues with some of the newer models, what really sets Minirig apart is their outstanding customer service. Any time I’ve had a problem, they’ve sorted it out incredibly quickly and at minimal cost, no questions asked. You can tell they genuinely care about their community and stand by their gear.
If you’re on the fence — go for it. Minirigs are more than just Bluetooth speakers; they’re a long-term companion for music lovers, skaters, vanlifers, and anyone who values great sound in a portable package. Worth every penny.
Still own the original Minirig from 2012 and it’s no different to the day I bought it, besides looking a bit tatty! that’s years of being dragged around different building sites, skateparks, festivals and holidays!

Absolutely loveee my custom mini 4!! The frank water cat design is soo cool! The sound on this tiny little speaker is amazing, I’m so glad I invested in this. Being born and bred in Bristol this is exactly what I needed to help with the homesickness, I can now have my own little mini rave. Anyone sat on the fence because the price is a bit steep trust me it’s worth it!!

Amazing customer service! I purchased a speaker in September last year. I went to use it last weekend after being sat in a drawer for a month or so and the battery had expanded so much that it had caused unrepairable damage. I contacted customer service and they sent a replacement speaker out to me the same day.
Absolutely brilliant company. I dropped and damaged my mini rig and sent it back to Bristol to be repaired. They repaired it but unfortunately couldn’t source a new battery (the mini rig is a few years old) so they fixed the damage….and sent it back no charge! A company who knows how to keep their customer base. I won’t be going anywhere else when I replace this model!
Minirig 2. Generally great, if not amazing. But they are so tempremental. Some times it works fine other times not. Charging is tempremental even when teh charging ports havent come loose. Mine barely leaves the house and has been into the workshop now 4 times. In the latest incarnation i occasionally get poor bluetooth connection which can only be resolved by a reboot.
Charging cables are absolute dross. Its criminal that they charge for them. I have been to the workshop in person and theyve given me several and even told me to get a dedicate wall charger, which i have. Unfortunately it looks like it will be going back into the workshop again as it just wont charge, having been generally ok with the non Minirig charging cable.
Really love hate for me. I use it daily until it craps out on me and then it really does my head in. Have friends that own Minirig2 too and seem to have mixed experience some without issue, others tempremental. The number of times mines been in the workshop i feel like they should jsut replace it even though i bought it thinking it should last 'forever'.
I've been flying the flag for Minirig since the early days and they continue to make excellent products. I had a recent mixup with their repair department and they went out of their way to resolve the issue for me. Very few companies offer this kind of customer service and it hasn't gone unnoticed. Thank you.
I had been a long time fan of Minirig speakers, always recommending them as the best portable speakers, I had the original Bluetooth minirig which lasted a good few years before eventually dying but it had served me well and I hadn't been particularly kind to it. Many years ago I contacted their customer support team and they were very helpful and quick to respond with a quote for repair as it was well out of the guarantee period. I never actually got it repaired though this was no fault of Minirig.
A few months ago when the Minirig 4 was released in other colours than black I ordered myself one to finally replace my old broken Minirig. I'd been awaiting the release for a while and was very excited. I received my Minirig and was very pleased with it at first, liking the improvements made in the multiple generations since I last owned one. The joy ended pretty quickly as within a month of receiving my Minirig it had completely died, I tried all of the troubleshooting advice on the website, to no avail, so thought I would contact Minirig. The only way I could find to contact customer services is through a generic 'contact us' form on their website, no email address, no phone number, so I filled in the form. This was well over a month ago and I have received no response, I also filled in the form a second time a week or two later, with no response. As this approach wasn't working I managed to find the telephone number of their shop in Bristol, I tried calling but there was no answer and even though I left a voicemail I never heard back.
Essentially it's a really good little speaker when it's working but I have doubts about the reliability and if something does go wrong the customer service is absolutely appalling.
Once a fan and a promoter, now annoyed and recommend people to look elsewhere.
